Someone who rises  \nabove such things and deals with them  \nin ways that we are only beginning to try.\n\nBut sometimes we don't want strength.  \nSometimes we don't want compassion or  \nconfidence.\n\nSometimes we do not need a creature to   \nembody our desires. We need one who   \nwill embody our reality. Our sadness,  \nour pain, our loneliness, our hate, our  \nmisery.\n\nHe is the shadow dwelling in my heart.  \nHe is the past I have overcome.  \nHe is the pain I have conquered and them  \nhatred I have left behind.\n\nHe is the silence I wish I had when people  \nignored what I had to say.\n\nHe is the hatred and loathing that burned   \nthrough my veins at all the injustice  \nin my life.\n\nHe is the pain from my past that  \nI never quite managed to express.\n\nHe is the embodiment of my darkest places.  \nThe masculinity I have never been able to   \nreconcile. The soft feminine side I have never  \nbeen able to fully accept.\n\nHe stares from the shadows in muted  \nsilence because he knows no one is  \nlistening anyway.\n\nHe is loneliness and hatred and pain.\n\nHe is not me as I am now.\u0026nbsp;  \nHe is who I once was.  \nHe is who I could have been if  \nnot for the friends and the support  \nI now have in my life.\n\nWhile I wish for the heart of a lion  \nI will never forget the tears of the oryx.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"National Poetry Writing Month","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/692851-heart-of-the-lion.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/693581-wings-of-the-raven.json"}}
