This is a follow-up to my poem The Jade Emperor and is also in conjunction with my short pieces Letters To The Jade Emperor. In this particular fantasy world, Yu Long is the ruler of China but many foreigners are caught off guard by the way he acts and make the grave mistake of underestimating his true power and intelligence.\nReno Blazefire (my primary fursona) is also part of this world as part of her backstory and is best friends with Yu Long as well as his advisor. That's where the lion reference comes in.\nOnly a fool underestimates a dragon.","content":"* * *\n\nBeware the Jade Emperor  \nsitting upon his golden throne.  \nDo not be fooled by his   \ndetachment or his disinterest.\n\nNothing gets past the celestial  \ndragon. Ruler of the empire.  \nNothing escapes his notice  \nor passes by unobserved.\n\nMock his apathy and aloof  \nattitude all you want. But  \nbeware of his claws the   \nmoment you turn around.\n\nThe Jade Emperor is no   \nfool. He is not a figurehead  \nplaced on high to be moved  \nand manipulated at the whim  \nof others.\n\nHe is the one whose wisdom  \nsurpasses that of generations.  \nHis courage burns as brightly  \nas the lioness who stands by  \nhis side.\n\nWings of gold and green   \nshadow the land. Every  \nmovement, every whisper,  \nthere is not a single one  \nthat does not reach his ears.\n\nThe lioness stands loyally  \nby his side.\n\nThe tigers work tirelessly  \nto fulfill his commands.  \nBlessed with his companionship  \nand respect.\n\nThe dragons are his soldiers  \nprotecting the land from harm.\n\nThe snow leopards spread   \ntheir wisdom and act as   \nambassadors to those foolish  \nenough to think that the  \nJade Emperor is a mere puppet.\n\nAny one who falls under   \nthe gaze of Yu Long will  \nsoon find that he is greatest  \npuppet master of them all.\n\nBehind a mask of indifference  \nhides the greatest mind China  \nhas ever seen.\n\nThe Jade Emperor may   \nwear garments of silk but  \nhis muscles are as strong   \nas steel.\n\nFire burns deep in his throat  \nand claws like iron stand ready  \nto tear down anyone who would  \nharm those he loves.\n\nWings like mighty sails  \ncrack like thunder with every beat.\n\nBeware the dragon who  \nsits on the Imperial Throne.  \nHis eyes see all. His intelligence   \nis unparalleled.\n\nThe wisdom of others is mere  \nchild's play to him.\n\nDo not let his attitude trick   \nyou into letting down your guard.  \nA dragon is still a dragon.  \nAnd the one you stand before now  \nrules one of the greatest empires in  \nthe world.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"National Poetry Writing Month","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/697433-boy-or-girl.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/698315-labels.json"}}
