MOAR DRAGONS. This is a follow-up to my poem The Jade Emperor and is also in conjunction with my short pieces Letters To The Jade Emperor. In this particular fantasy world, Yu Long is the ruler of China but many foreigners are caught off guard by the way he acts and make the grave mistake of underestimating his true power and intelligence.
Reno Blazefire (my primary fursona) is also part of this world as part of her backstory and is best friends with Yu Long as well as his advisor. That's where the lion reference comes in.
Only a fool underestimates a dragon.

* * *

Beware the Jade Emperor
sitting upon his golden throne.
Do not be fooled by his
detachment or his disinterest.

Nothing gets past the celestial
dragon. Ruler of the empire.
Nothing escapes his notice
or passes by unobserved.

Mock his apathy and aloof
attitude all you want. But
beware of his claws the
moment you turn around.

The Jade Emperor is no
fool. He is not a figurehead
placed on high to be moved
and manipulated at the whim
of others.

He is the one whose wisdom
surpasses that of generations.
His courage burns as brightly
as the lioness who stands by
his side.

Wings of gold and green
shadow the land. Every
movement, every whisper,
there is not a single one
that does not reach his ears.

The lioness stands loyally
by his side.

The tigers work tirelessly
to fulfill his commands.
Blessed with his companionship
and respect.

The dragons are his soldiers
protecting the land from harm.

The snow leopards spread
their wisdom and act as
ambassadors to those foolish
enough to think that the
Jade Emperor is a mere puppet.

Any one who falls under
the gaze of Yu Long will
soon find that he is greatest
puppet master of them all.

Behind a mask of indifference
hides the greatest mind China
has ever seen.

The Jade Emperor may
wear garments of silk but
his muscles are as strong
as steel.

Fire burns deep in his throat
and claws like iron stand ready
to tear down anyone who would
harm those he loves.

Wings like mighty sails
crack like thunder with every beat.

Beware the dragon who
sits on the Imperial Throne.
His eyes see all. His intelligence
is unparalleled.

The wisdom of others is mere
child's play to him.

Do not let his attitude trick
you into letting down your guard.
A dragon is still a dragon.
And the one you stand before now
rules one of the greatest empires in
the world.
