{"sf1_id":698315,"sf2_id":"k1VBLX71","title":"Labels","author":"ShingetsuMoon","words":200,"posted_at":"2014-04-28T00:01:00.000Z","tags":["Gender","Identity","Poem","Poetry","labels"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/698315-labels","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/k1VBLX71","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/7e/5a/7e5a3eb5-dab6-48d4-9ad3-413f60add442","description":"#27 of National Poetry Writing Month\n\nI think this poem is pretty self explanatory.","content":"* * *\n\nIt seems to me that  \npeople have such a   \nlove hate relationship  \nwith labels.\n\nWe love them.   \nWe hate them.\n\nWe get angry when  \npeople don't use them.\n\nWe get angry when  \npeople do use them.\n\nWe get upset when they  \nare used incorrectly.\n\nWe grumble that they  \nshouldn't be needed at   \nall when they are used  \nproperly.\n\nWe insist that others   \nlearn how to use them.\n\nWe get angry at those  \nwho innocently label  \npeople as something  \nthey are not.\n\nWe argue that labels  \nshould not be necessary  \nand that we should all  \njust accept each other  \nfor who they are.\n\nWe take comfort in labels  \nbecause they help give us   \nan identity and a place  \nto fit in in a world that  \nall too often makes us   \nfeel alone and outcast.\n\nWe shun labels because  \nwe don't want to feel  \nconstrained or chained   \ndown by the identities  \nothers would force upon  \nus.\n\nWe need labels.\n\nWe don't need labels.\n\nWe need to define ourselves  \nsomehow.\n\nWe shouldn't have to define  \nourselves for the comfort of   \nothers.\n\nAround and around.  \nBack and forth.  \nGood and bad.  \nNecessary and unnecessary.\n\nWhen will people  \nmake up their minds?\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"National Poetry Writing Month","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/697753-the-imperial-throne.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/698695-in-the-end.json"}}
