# Grand Duel Academy: Chapter 5 Author: Rose the Lopunny Tags: Female, Gallade, Male, Pokemon, YuGiOh, lopunny, zorua #6 of Grand Duel Academy Hey, all! FINALLY I have another chapter of this up! Expect more over the summer, as my writing juices are flowing! Anyway, while on a walk, Rose runs into Shimmer, his crush. When he asks her out, he's turned down, but decides to ask like a man...by challenging her to a children's card game! So, the two will have a battle of love! Who will come out on top? Read on and find out! The sun rises on another great day on Academy Island.  Students were waking up, though most were still asleep, as it was a weekend.  Several weeks have passed since the first day on campus, and all of the students had their own way to do things.  We focus on two here in particular.  Rose was currently asleep on a pile of books and papers, snoring softly.  His roommate, Hudson, was asleep on his bed, chip bags and his DS on his chest as he had fallen asleep like that.  Rose yawns, slowly waking up. Rose: Ugh...stupid history, always hated it.... He arranged his stuff back on his desk, putting away his homework as he goes to shower.  When he gets back, Hudson was back up, already back to playing his game.   Rose: You played that thing for 8 hours straight yesterday.  Aren't you getting tired of it? Hudson: Hey, it's Phoenix Wright!  You can't stop once you get going! Rose chuckles, smling as he gets dressed. Rose: I'm going to go out for a walk around the island. Hudson: Kay, don't die.   Rose sighs, smling as he gets his backpack on, his disk inside as he heads out.  The island was fairly large, several miles across in every direction.  There were paths going through the heavily forested island, connecting all of the major buildings to one another.  Rose walked down a path, smiling as he saw several other students, most of them sitting on the sides, working on homework or trading cards.  However, as he walked, he also noticed several couples.  They seemed to be mostly couples of the same caliber, wearing the same color of blazer or vest.  Rose sighs, taking a seat under a tree, looking at his deck.   Rose: Damn it....I wish I could really show her what I can do..... ???: Show who what?   Rose looks to the voice, seeing Shimmer leaning against a tree.   Rose: S-Shimmer!  H-How long have you been there for? Shimmer: Long enough.  Already got a crush? Rose: Y-yeah....but, I don't know if she'd be interested in a Photon Purple.... Shimmer: Why should that matter?  You love her, right?  Just go for it. Rose: I....Alright.   Rose stands up, going over to her.   Rose: Shimmer...please, go out with me!   Shimmer flinched a bit, then chuckled.   Shimmer: Seriously?  You wanted me?  Nice try, not interested.   Rose flinched, tearing up a bit, but he held it back.  As Shimmer turned to leave, he grabbed her shoulder.   Rose: If you won't agree like this....then I'll fight for it! Shimmer: I'm listening... Rose: I...I challenge you to a duel!  Tomorrow, right here, high noon.  If I win, then you'll go out with me.  Even if it's just one date. Shimmer: And if I win? Rose: ...I'll never bother you about this again, I won't even speak with you unless I truly have to. Shimmer: Interesting... Very well, see you tomorrow.   Rose lets go of her shoulder, and watches her walk away.  Rose gulps, turning back and going towards the card shop.   Rose: If I'm going to win this....I'll need to use THAT deck..... ------------------------------- The next day comes, and Rose is asleep on his desk once again.  But this time, instead of papers and books, the things are cards.  Hudson wakes up first for once, looking over to Rose.  He sees all the cards, and sighs.  He gets out of bed, going to nudge Rose.  The rabbit slowly wakes up, groaning.   Hudson: Dude, you're putting way too much into this. Rose: No, dude...you don't understand... Hudson: But she's just a kid!  And a weird one at that... Rose: She's not weird, she's....eclectic.  Besides, I know that I can make it with this deck... Hudson: What's wrong with your old one, you've done well with it already. Rose: There's two reasons.  The main one is I already know her deck.  I've seen her use those Evilswarms, and that Ophion of her's shuts my deck down to anything but useful.  I can't get out my fusions, and those Pandemic spells stop my only chances of getting rid of it.  This is a deck I've been planning out and collecting for some time now....I think it's time that I use it. Hudson: Ok....what's the other reason? Rose: That...is a secret.   Rose smiles as he puts the last card back into the deck, smiling as he slips it into his deck box.  He looks at the time, taking a deep breath.   Rose: Nearly time....you wanna come with? Hudson: Meh, I got nothing better to do.  Damn game makes no sense anymore.   Rose chuckles, smiling as he gets his disk on.  The two of them head out to the same pathway again, where Shimmer was leaning against the same tree, this time with her disk around her arm.   Shimmer: So you showed up. Rose: Wouldn't miss this for the world. Shimmer: Cheezy, let's get to it.   The two of them, along with Hudson, attach their D-Gazers, the area around them becoming the battlefield, as they both activate their Duel Disks.  Rose and Shimmer meet in the center, trading decks.  It's then that Rose notices something.   Rose: You sure have a lot of cards in here.... Shimmer: Full 60. Rose: Interesting.   They shuffle and cut each other's decks, before returning them and going to their opposite sides.  They both draw their five, smiling   Rose and Shimmer: DUEL! Rose: I'll be a gentleman, and allow you to go first. Shimmer: Whatever.  I activate my Field Spell, Madolche Chateau! Rose: F-Field Spell?!   The field changes, as they were now in the courtyard of a massive cake and candy castle.   Rose; Wait, Madolche?  I thought that you used Evilswarms! Shimmer: I have two decks.  Got a problem with that? Rose: Not really...this just makes the duel even more exciting!   Shimmer chuckles, as she takes another card from her hand.   Shimmer: Anyway, while Chateau is on the field, all my Madolche monsters gain 500 ATK.  I then activate my spell, Madolche Ticket.  Next, I summon out my Madolche Mewfeuille.   The spell appears on her field, then the cute kitty appears on its sweet puzzle piece.   Shimmer: When Mewfeuille is summoned to the field, I can special summon another Madolche monster from my hand.  And I summon Madolche Baaple.   The cute sheep appears next to her other monster.   Shimmer: I now overlay my two monsters to Xyz summon Wind-Up Zenmaines!   The two monsters fly into the vortex, as the large toy comes out of it in Defense mode.   Shimmer: I set a card facedown and end my turn. Rose: Wow, a great first turn! Shimmer: Your move.   Rose smiles, drawing his card.   Rose: Alright...I set one monster in face-down defense position.  I then set two face-down cards and end my turn.   The cards appear on the field, Hudson flinching a bit.   Hudson: Dude, come on!  She's got something that powerful out! Rose: I know, trust me.   Shimmer chuckles, smiling as she draws her card.   Shimmer: I'll end my turn. Rose: Alright, I summon my Magical Exemplar to the field, in attack mode!   The woman appears on the field, 1700 attack points strong.   Rose: I then activate Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy your facedown!   The whirlwind whips up, as her face-down Mirror Force was destroyed.   Rose: Yes! Shimmer: Not bad. Rose: Thanks.  Now Magical Exemplar's effect activates!  Whenever a spell is activated, I can add two spell counters to her!   Two small orbs light up around Magical Exemplar, floating next to her.   Rose: That's all. Shimmer: Alright....not bad.  I summon Cardcar D.  Then I use its effect, sacrificing it to draw two cards, then immediately end my turn. Rose: My turn!  I now sacrifice the face-down monster on my field, and summon my Dark Magician Girl!   The monster appears on the field, the sexy mage smiling as she appears.   Shimmer: Wow, now that brings back some nostalgia.... Rose: Just wait, there's more.  I now activate my spell card, Sage's Stone!  If I control a Dark Magician Girl, I can special summon her master from my hand or deck.  I now special summon Dark Magician!   The powerful mage appears on the field, as I smile.  Magical Exemplar gains two more spell counters, the orbs appearing around her.   Rose: This should work....I activate my face-down card, Magic Formula!  I can equip this to a Dark Magician monster I control to give it 700 extra attack points.  I give it to my Dark Magician Girl!   The large book appears in front of her, as she begins to read, giving her the added attack points.  Yet again, Magical Exemplar gains spell counters, now at 6.   Rose: Alright, Dark Magician, Dark Magician girl, attack Wind-Up Zenmaines!   The two monsters attack, firing magical blasts.   Shimmer: I activate Zenmaines's effect.  By removing an Overlay Unit from it, I can negate it's destruction.  I use it twice!   Zenmaines absorbs a unit every time it uses its effect, glowing as it resists the blasts.   Rose: I set one card facedown and end my turn. Shimmer: Zenmaines now activates its second effect.  During the end phase that it uses its effect, I can destroy a card on the field.  I destroy Dark Magician Girl.   Zenmaines charges up a laser, firing it and destroying Dark Magician Girl.   Rose: Since Magic Formula went to the graveyard, I gain 1000 Life Points.  I then use Magical Exemplar's effect.  By removing Spell Counters from her, I can special summon a spellcaster-type monster whose level is equal to the number of counters removed from my hand or graveyard.  I remove all six and special summon Dark Magician Girl back to the field!   Magical Exemplar absorbs the orbs into a sphere, as she throws it at an empty monster zone, a portal opening as Dark Magician Girl comes running out, back on the field.  At the same time, Rose's Life Points jump up to 9000.   Rose: I end my turn. Shimmer: Alright, I set two cards facedown and end my turn. Hudson: Alright, Rose, you got her on the ropes! Rose; Never assume anything when dueling, Hudson.  Especially against one like her.  I activate my face-down card, Magical Dimension!  I can only activate this spell card when I control a face-up Spellcaster.  I can tribute a spellcaster and special summon another one from my hand.  I tribute Magical Exemplar, to special summon a second Dark Magician!     A giant magic sarcophagus appears on the field, as Magical Exemplar enters it.  Smoke flows out of it, as it opens up, revealing Dark Magician in her place.     Hudson: Two Dark Magicians?  Really? Shimmer: Can't blame him, it's a classic. Rose: And once the spell's pulled off, I can destroy a monster on the field, I destroy Wind-Up Zenmaines!   The smoke flows around Zenmaines, as it engulfes it, setting off an explosion.  When the smoke clears, Zenmaines is destroyed.   Shimmer: Not bad. Rose: Thanks.  Alright, I attack with everything! Shimmer: But not enough.  I activate my face-down, Mirror Force!   She's surrounded by a rainbow barrier, as the attacks are reflected, destroying all the spellcasters.     Rose: N-No way..... Shimmer: Nice try. Rose: Tch.....I set a monster and set one card face-down. Shimmer: My turn.  I summon Madolche Magileine.   The witch flies to the field, smiling.   Shimmer: When she's successfully summoned, I can add a Madolche monster from my deck to my hand.  I add Madolche Chouxvalier.  Magileine, attack his face-down monster!   The witch fires a blast from her wand, the monster getting destroyed, a thin magician.   Rose; You destroyed my Magician's Apprentice.  When it's destroyed in battle, I can special summon a level 2 or lower monster from my deck in face down defense position.  I summon another Apprentice. Shimmer: I end my turn. Rose: As do I. Shimmer: Running out of options?  Alright.  I summon Madolche Chouxvalier.  I then overlay my two monsters together, to Xyz summon Madolche Queen Tiaramisu.   The knight and witch become light as they enter the vortex.  The queen of cake appears on her throne, smiling.   Shimmer: I then activate her effect.  By removing an overlay unit, I can return two Madolche cards to my deck.  However, due to my Madolche Chateau's effect, I can return them to my hand instead.  I detach Chouxvalier to return it and Baaple into my hand.   Tiaramisu absorbs a unit into her scepter, as a giant mixing bowl appears, the two monster's cake pieces coming out of it as they appear, returning to Shimmer's hand.   Shimmer: Once that's done, I return two cards you control to your deck.  I return your face-down Apprentice and your facedown card.   Tiaramisu then unleashes a wave of icing, causing the cards to be lifted and returned to Rose's deck as its shuffled.   Shimmer: Now Ticket activates.  Once per turn, if a Madolche card is returned to the hand or deck, I can add a Madolche monster from my deck to my hand.  I choose Madolche Butlerusk.  Now, Tiaramisu, attack directly!   Tiaramisu swings her scepter, smacking Rose on the head.  Rose winces, grumbling as his Life Points drop down to 6300.   Shimmer: I set two cards face down and end my turn. Rose: Damn it....not looking good.  I set a monster and three face down cards and end my turn.... Shimmer: Good move.  Now I'll have to get lucky with those annoying facedowns.  I use Tiaramisu's effect, returning your monster and the left face down to your deck, while bringing Mewfeuile and Magileine to my hand.   Rose grimaces as the wave takes the cards out.   Shimmer: Seems I chose right.  I summon Madolche Mewfeuille, then special summon Madolche Mageleine.  Everyone, attack!   Rose groans, as he's taken down to 900 Life Points.   Shimmer: I set another card face-down, and end my turn.   Rose had been blasted back from the attack, laying on the ground.   Shimmer: You have no cards in your hand, and two useless face-downs.  Just surrender and we can get this over with. Rose: ....no.   Rose grunts, slowly getting up, panting.   Shimmer: What?  Come on, this is pointless.  You're obviously not at my level, so why keep going if you know you're going to lose? Rose: Because.  No matter how bad the situation, I never give up before the last card is played.  I will do whatever I can, all for you.  Shimmer, I love you, and I'll do anything to go out with you.  And it starts....   Rose puts his hand on his deck, gripping the first card.   Rose: With THIS!   Rose draws, looking at the card, smiling.   Rose: Perfect.  Here goes, I activate my face-down card, Birthright!  When this card is activated, I can special summon a normal monster from my graveyard in attack mode.  I special summon my Dark Magician!   Dark Magician comes back to the field, posing.   Shimmer: He's not strong enough to take down my Queen. Rose: Don't think I'm done just yet.  I activate my second face-down, ANOTHER Birthright, bringing back my second Dark Magician!   The two mages are on the field, as Rose smiles.   Rose: I now overlay my two mages! Hudson: A rank 7 Xyz summon?!  What the heck could it be?   The mages become their purple orbs, going into the vortex.   Rose: I Xyz summon, Dark Magician of Illusions! Hudson: Another Dark Magician, of course.....   The new, more powerful mage comes out, still at the same strength as a normal Dark Magician.   Shimmer: Odd choice.... Rose: I'm not done yet.  I now activate his effect!  By removing an overlay unit, I can special summon a normal spellcaster-type monster from my hand or deck!  And there's only one left in it.  I special summon.... Hudson: Don't tell me... Rose: My THIRD Dark Magician! Hudson: You gotta be fucking kidding me!   Rose chuckles, as the original mage appears next to its evolved form.   Shimmer: You must have a fetish for those things. Rose: Nah, just nostalgia.  Now, I activate my spell card, Thousand Knives!  While Dark Magician is on my field, I can destroy any monster on the field.  I destroy Tiaramisu!   The thousand knives form around Dark Magician, as they fly at Tiaramisu, destroying her.   Rose: Now, Dark Magician, attack Madolche Mewfeuille!  Dark Magician of Illusion's effect activates, allowing me to banish a monster once per turn, when a normal spellcaster-type monster attacks.  I banish Magileine!   As Dark Magician attacks, Dark Magician of Illusions opens a portal beneath magiliene, as it sucks her in.  Dark Magician's attack hits Mewfeuille, taking Shimmer down to 6500 Life Points.   Rose: Dark Magician of Illusions, direct attack!   The mage fires an attack at her, making Shimmer grunt as she's hit full-force, dropping her life points to 4000.   Rose: This is the power of my will...of my love.   Shimmer flips back up, smiling.   Shimmer: Very, very impressive....unfortunately, it's over. Rose: You have no monsters out, there's no way you can block my monsters. Shimmer: Who said anything about blocking?  My draw.   Shimmer draws, smiling.   Shimmer: I activate my face-down card, Madolchepalooza! Rose: Madolchepa-what? Shimmer: In other words, your end.  When I activate this card, I can special summon as many Madolche monsters from my hand to the field as I can.  However, they are returned to my deck at the end phase. Rose: Wait....don't tell me.... Shimmer: I now special summon 5 monsters!  I special summon Madolche Baaple, Chouxvalier, Butlerusk, Hootcake, and Angelly!   The five monsters appear, Rose sighing.   Rose: Ok...I was expecting something that would be able to destroy my monsters. Shimmer: Again, I never said I was destroying them.  Time for a combo of my own.  I first overlay Butlerusk and Chouxvalier to Xyz summon another Tiaramisu!   The two monsters enter the vortex, the queen appearing.   Shimmer: I then overlay Hootcake and Baaple to summon M-X-Saber Invoker!   The two monsters combine, bringing the warrior to the field.   Shimmer: I use his effect.  By removing an overlay unit, I can special summon a level 4 EARTH warrior or beast-warrior type monster to the field.  I'll go with the earlier and summon out Madolche Messengelato.   The young mail carrier comes onto the field, as Shimmer smiles.   Shimmer: I overlay Messengelato and Angelly to Xyz summon my third Tiaramisu!   The queen appears, three powerful monsters on the field.   Rose: N-No way.... Shimmer: I use one Tiaramisu's effect.  By removing an overlay unit, I'll add Messengelato and Baaple back to my hand via Chateau, to return your mages to your deck.   The wave washes them away, Rose left with nothing.   Shimmer: Oh, last time, I forgot to use the other effect of Ticket.  If I control a fairy type monster, I can special summon the monster instead of adding it to my hand.  I special summon Madolche Puddingcess!   The young girl appears, curtsying politely.   Shimmer: Go.   All four monsters attack Rose directly, blasting him back.  The area around them reverts back to the forest path, Rose sitting cross-legged as he tears up.  Shimmer walks over, smiling.   Shimmer: Pick me up at 8. Rose: Wait....but...I lost.... Shimmer: Yeah, pretty badly.  But....I'm not sure what it is, but I like you.  We can go out on a date, and see where it goes from there.   Rose looks up, tearing up.  He leans in for a kiss, but she pushes him away.   Shimmer: I said a date.  We aren't officially going out yet. Rose: Ok, I can agree to that.   The two of them shake hands, Shimmer walking off as Rose smiles, Hudson going up and smacking his back.   Hudson: Alright, dude, you got your date! Rose: Heh....yeah. Hudson: So...wanna go and get something to eat?  Seeing all that cake and candy got me hungry. Rose: Sure, dude.  Sounds like a plan.   The two guys walk off, Shimmer watching them from behind a tree.  She smiles, pulling out her two remaining face-downs, chuckling as she sees her two Magic Cylinders.  She smiles, putting them back in her deck as she continues her walk.
