As he walked the hall, he\nlooked and giggled as he saw Nick on Jamal's bed, buck-naked and hugging a pillow.\nHe walked in, and hopped onto the sleeping Latino.\n\n\"Wake up, Nick! It's going on noon!\" He said playfully. Nick groaned as he\nfumbled for the bedsheets.\n \n\"Day off... Need sleep... Go'way...\" Merrick laughed as he tugged\nat the pillow.\n \n\"What're you talking about? The day's not off, it's on!\nLookit, the sun's shining, right now!\" Nicholas growled irritably as he pulled\na pillow over his head, \"Come on, even Jamal's up and about!\"\n \n\"Good for him,\" Nick said flatly, \"Give'em a medal, man.\"\n \n\"Okie, be like that~\" Merrick said as he gave Nick's naked,\njiggly butt a few hard spanks. The Hispanic guy curved his back and cooed.\n \n\"Oh ghod, don't do that, that ain't fair...\" He groaned as he\ncould already feel a hard-on coming on.\n \n\"Hehe, maybe on a red moon!\"\n \n\"Yeah yeah, whatever, red moon...\" Nick groaned as he pressed\na pillow over his head, \"Wake me up when it's... Later...\" He said muffled.\n \n \n~~~\n \n \n\"Heh heh heh!\" Jamal chuckled as he played with Lavi as the\nbuilt-in sprinkler showered upon the little pond he built. Over the past month\nand a half, he's been building this koifish pond on the side of the house so he\ncould give his pet a small habitat to live in, with an installed water pump and\nfilter, and a large mudpie right next to the mini pool. He has a fence built in\nso Lavi won't wonder off, and no pests can get in, other than insects, but it\ncertainly prevents Roxas from getting any funny ideas.\n \nThere is a small container full of fishing lures with the\nhooks removed so they could be used as toys. Jamal moved a toy fishing rod with\none of the shiny, disarmed lures to tease the small, otter-like dog in the\nclear water. The gold-colored lavellen looped and swam in the water with the\nmini school of live goldfish, attempting to catch the bright ruby red lure.\nAccording to Merrick, lavellen eat small freshwater fish such as guppies,\ngoldfish, and beta fish, or insects such as mealworms or crickets. It's just\ncheaper to buy goldfish by the school, so Lavi could eat anytime she wants.\n \nMerrick walked around the house, and smiled as he saw Jamal\nin the fenced area, seeing a lilypad twirl on the water's surface. \"It's\namazing how you humans can create such things.\" Merrick said with a smile as he\nentered into the habitat. The dark man turned his head and smiled at the merman\ncoming in.\n \n\"This is nuthin. You should see when we make a huge-ass\ndam!\" He said as Merrick sat next to him, \"How bout you though? You feelin\naight?\" He asked. Merrick shrugged and nodded.\n \n\"Yeah, I'm fine. Why do you ask?\"\n \n\"Well, it's been a couple of months since...\" He cleared his\nthroat and paused, \"You know...\" Merrick looked down, and nodded, \"And you\nhaven't been in the ocean since then. You not feelin sick or nothing, are ya?\nThat's a long time fo a fish to be outta water.\"\n \n\"Actually... I feel fine,\" Merrick said, \"Other than the fact\nthat I miss my pod and the ocean, I haven't been feeling anything bad from\nstaying out of it. I guess it was just a misconception...\" Merrick said, \"Like\nalmost everything else merfolk think about the land...\"\n \n\"What chu mean?\" Jamal asked.\n \n\"Well, you know how we merfolk can turn human when we come\non land, right?\"\n \n\"Yeah?\"\n \n\"But that alone can't keep us on land forever. Supposedly,\nwe shouldn't be able to last more than 14 suns on dry land...\" He snirked and\nshrugged, \"I guess we were wrong.\"\n \n\"Yeah, or maybe you last longa cause you been fuckin Adam,\"\nJamal said with a grin. Merrick giggled and blushed.\n \n\"Hehehe, maybe~\"\n \n\"Merrrriiiick!\" Called Yuri, \"Can you come in here,\nplease??\" \n \n\"Hang on, I'll be right back,\" Merrick then stood up and\nwalked out of the fenced pond, and back into the house. There, he found Yuri at\nthe kitchen table, with a strange, long object in a longer box, \"Ooh, is that\none of those fishing rods?? The tools humans use to hunt fish?\"\n \n\"Sure is!\" She said eagerly, \"This one is built to shoot the\nlure up to half a mile away, has a power lock onto the mechanism, and has 10\ntimes the strength an average fishing rod!\"\n \nMerrick blinked as he crossed his arms, \"Right, I'm just\ngonna pretend I know what you're talking about.\" Yuri laughed as she rolled out\nsome brightly colored paper.\n \n\"I just need your help wrapping it,\" She said as she put the\nbox onto the whiteside of the paper.\n \n\"Wrap it?\" Merrick came over, and held one side of the paper\nwhile Yuri tapped it down, \"Wouldn't you want to use it instead?\"\n \n\"It's a present for Adam,\" She said, \"It's his birthday next\nweek.\"\n \n\"... His birth-day?\" Merrick asked as he tilted his head\ncuriously.\n \n\"Yeah, his birthday. The day he was born?\" She said. Merrick\nblinked curiously, having no idea what she's saying, \"Don't merfolk celebrate\nbirthdays?\"\n \n\"No... What would be the point?\" He asked.\n \n\"You mean you NEVER had a birthday before?\" Yuri asked as\nher eyes widened.\n \n\"No, I haven't. I was born once, not every year.\"\n \n\"Well, a Birthday is a holiday that all humans celebrate -\nit's to mark the occasion of which we are born into this world!\"\n \n\"Heh,\" Merrick scoffed, \"Why? Seems kinda pointless - we're\nALL born, aren't we? I suppose you celebrate the birth of animals as well?\"\n \n\"No... Just humans...\"\n \n\"Ha,\" Merrick held down the flap of the wrapping paper,\n\"Typical.\"\n \n\"Anyway, on a birthday, we buy gifts and cards for the\nperson we're celebrating, and we throw parties either at home, or somewhere\nelse, and then we eat cake and ice cream! It's fun!\"\n \n\"If you say so...\" Merrick replied.\n \n\"... So wait, you have NO idea when you were born?\"\n \n\"Am I supposed to?\" Merrick asked, \"You know, Adam once told\nme of another human holiday once. He called it 'Christmas', and he and I gave\neach other a gift. Just how many holidays do humans have?\"\n \n\"Hundreds!\" Yuri said with a chuckle.\n \n\"WHAT?!\" Merrick yelped in surprise, \"Why do humans need to\ncelebrate so much?! What's to celebrate?!\" Yuri laughed at the merman's\nsurprise.\n \n\"Well, it all depends on what nationality you are. In\nAmerica, the most popular holidays are Christmas, Easter, Halloween,\nValentine's, St Patrick's, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, New Year, and\nthe list goes on.\"\n \n\"And you all buy presents on each one???\"\n \n\"Oh no, just a couple of them. You remember when we took you\nto that national park last month? And when it got dark, there was huge flashing\nlights in the sky?\"\n \n\"You mean the fireworks? Yeah, Adam already told me about\nthe 4th of July. But seriously, what's the point about all these\nholidays?\"\n \n\"It makes life interesting. And it marks the occasions of\nhistory of humanity. What do merfolk do to remember important events in history\nanyway?\"\n \n\"The Razirah of the pod tells stories, that's what. Some of\nthem are true, and some of them are exaggerated. But we don't make a big party\nabout them.\"\n \n\"Well anyway, this is what I'm getting for Adam for his\nBirthday. And Jamal is getting him a couple of games for the PS3. Are you gonna\nbe getting him anything?\"\n \n\"I suppose I should... But what do I get him?\" \n \n\"Well, I could give you some money and take you to browse\nthe shops.\"\n \n\"Maybe... I need some time to figure it out...\" He pondered.\n \n \n~~~\n \n \nThe next day, Merrick is sitting at the cliff. It's noon,\nand he is looking at the ocean, furrowing his brow as he thought. Jamal walks\nup behind him, and squats down, \"Hey man, what chu thinkin bout?\"\n \n\"There's something I want to get for Adam's... Birthday... And I\ndon't know if I should go and get it or not...\"\n \n\"Wut do'ya mean? What is it?\"\n \n\"I know he likes collecting shells, so I want to find an\nexotic shell for him, kinda like the octopus-slug shell I brought him once.\"\n \n\"So? Why don't you go out an git it?\"\n \n\"I... I-I can't...\"\n \n\"Why? You scared?\"\n \n\"Yes,\" Merrick replied, \"I don't have a weapon anymore.\nBesides that, I don't want to be out there... Alone... I don't want any...\" Merrick\nput his hand onto his heart-symbol on the back of his neck, \"... Beasts to come\nand kill me...\"\n \n\"...\" Jamal paused, \"Well, how bout I go wit you? Me n' Yuri,\nwe can barrow her dad's boat, and we can go.\"\n \n\"I still don't have a weapon. I'm used to wielding my\ntrident, but it's long gone.\"\n \n\"We got stuff you can use here. We got yo back, man!\" Jamal\nsaid with an encouraging smile.\n \n\"Mmm...\" Merrick turned back to the sea, \"I guess... If I'm not\nalone, maybe it'll stay away...\" He mumbled.\n \n\"What do ya mean?\"\n \n\"Never mind, it's... Not important...\" Merrick said, \"Ok, let's\ngo ahead and do it...\"\n \n \n~~~\n \n \n\"How's dis, huh?\" Jamal asked as he held up a straight,\nwooden shaft with a gleaming kitchen knife tied tightly to it. All three of\nthem are on Mr Umiyama's motorboat, bobbing on the ocean.\n \n\"I suppose it'll do,\" Merrick said as he took the makeshift\nweapon.\n \n\"You owe us a new broom, Merrick,\" Yuri said as she stood\nthere in her bathing suit.\n \n\"Aight, les go,\" Jamal said, wearing a snug red speedo with\na white cross on the bulge - once in a while, he works part time as a lifeguard\nat the pier.\n \n\"Wait!\" Merrick said, \"Hang on,\" He then turned to Yuri, and\napproached her, \"This is only necessary...\" \n \n\"Huh?\" Before she could say anything, Merrick then pressed\nhis lips onto her own, \"Hmm?!\" She blinked as he narrow eyes blinked in\nsurprise. Almost as soon as he kissed her, Merrick pulled back, almost too\nquickly, \"M-Merrick! What was THAT about?!\"\n \n\"Yeah, dude! Why you- Ohhhh!\" He said as he nodded and\nsmirked, \"Aw yeah, NOW I rememba.\"\n \n\"Remember what?? Why did you kiss me?! I thought you were\ngay!\"\n \n\"It's a trick merfolk can do,\" Merrick explained, \"We're\nable to give humans the ability to stay underwater without drowning for as long\nas they need to, just by kissing them. Trust me,\" Merrick said as he rubbed his\nlips with his hand, \"I wouldn't do that unless it was absolutely necessary.\"\n \n\"But... How does that work??\" Yuri said, \"Just one kiss, and I\ndon't drown? That doesn't make any sense.\"\n \n\"Neither does having infinite holidays to celebrate,\"\nMerrick said.\n \n\"Well, s'long as we goin undawater,\" Jamal said with a grin,\n\"Wanna make sure I don't drown?\" Merrick giggled at that.\n \n\"One kiss is enough, but... Just cause you're sexy...\" Merrick\nthen came over to the big, muscular black man, and tenderly kissed those thick\nlips. After lapping his lips with Jamal's Merrick can't help but feel a sense\nof satisfaction from it, like the feeling of washing your hands.\n \n\"Ok, lets get on with it,\" Yuri said, \"I'm starting to feel\na little left out here,\" She said as she put her goggles on.\n \n\"Heh, git a bo, gurl,\" Jamal said as he put his goggles on,\n\"You'll feel betta.\n \n \n \n~^~^~^~\n \n \nJamal and Yuri looked as Merrick's body transformed from his\nfair-skinned human form, to the blue and silver true form. They watched in awe\nas the merman loomed around them, holding the spear Jamal strung together. He\nmoved downward, along with the two humans.\n \nMerrick felt his tailfin get tugged, and he turned to see\nYuri's hand plucking at him. He looped around, purring a curious rumple at her,\nand saw her pointing her finger at general direction. Merrick turned his head,\nand smiled as he spotted a distant pod of dolphins. He then undulated his tail\nto swim forward, and sent out a squeaking signal over to the dolphins. \n \nThe sea mammals turned from their original track, and swam\ntowards the merman. The dolphins squealed and clicked as they swam at Merrick,\nbefore the blue merman swam in between them, and brought them to Jamal and\nYuri. \n \nJamal laughed as a dolphin came up and rub against him as it\nswam, while Yuri felt at a dolphin's head, at the tight rubber. Another dolphin\nplayfully nipped at the back of Jamal's speedo, making him turn around, and\nmake the dolphin back off. Merrick giggled as his two friends pet and played\nwith the dolphins. He rang out a few instructive clicks to the dolphins, and\nthey moved down deeper, while Jamal and Yuri casually grabbed onto their dorsal\nfins, and drift along the water. \n \nThey went to a mound of reef on the sandy bottom. The\ndolphins started to click at the sand, and dig their snouts into it for any\nprey that might be hiding within. The two humans watched as Merrick loomed\naround the reef, his gills fluttering as he made strange noises at the rocky\nfortress. The merman drifted along, until he suddenly stabbed his spear down\nonto something!\n \nHis fishy blue tail disappeared behind the reef, and came\nback seconds later with a bleeding shell. The knife had stabbed into a large Ancyloceratina\nhermit crab, inhabiting a 2ft tall spiral shell with short spikes along the\nridge - it almost resembles an upside-down tornado. He signaled left, and\nright, and then swam over to a particularly bumpy patch of sand. He gurgled a\nrumbling sound, and Jamal jumbled as he saw the patch of sand suddenly lurch\nup, and put its gangly tentacles onto the end of the spring-shaped shell.\nMerrick withdrew his weapon as the sandy octopus yanked out the hermit crab,\nand devoured it, leaving Merrick with a hollow, black and red shell.\n \nMerrick swam over to Jamal and Yuri to show them the shell.\nThey both nodded in approval, while Jamal gave it a thumbs up. \n \nSuddenly, they noticed the dolphins all swimming way, rather\nquickly. While Jamal and Yuri looked around curiously Merrick sent a few\nsignals for anything that might have scared away the dolphins.\n \nHe then gasped as his blue eyes widened. The two humans\nlooked as Merrick let out a terrified call at them, before the merman tugged\nthem up, and swimming quickly back up to the surface.\n \nYuri narrowed her eyes as she could make out some distinct\noutline of an aquatic creature, but she'd have to get closer to really see it,\nbut it seems to be disappearing. She felt her arm get tugged at by Jamal, and\nthe two swam back up to the boat.\n \n \nJamal is the first to climb out of the boat, and saw that\nsilver and blue fish boy shuddering and curled up on the boat, \"Yo, what's wit\nchu?\" Merrick didn't answer as Yuri climbed out of the water.\n \n\"Merrick, what's happened? You just took off like a bat out\nof hell. Was there something you should have warned us about?\" The merman shook\nhis head.\n \n\"Wut, was a Great White comin over? Or some other\nsomething?\"\n \n\"No... A Great White, I can handle...\"\n \n\"Then what was it?\" Yuri asked, \"It could've gotten to us,\nyou know.\"\n \n\"No...\" Merrick then looked up to the two humans, \"It doesn't\nwant you...\"\n \n\"We don't even know what IT is,\" Yuri said as she crouched\ndown to Merrick, \"Is something wrong?\"\n \n\"...\" Merrick paused and shook his head, \"We got what we came\nfor, let's just go...\" He said.\n \n\"Merrick, what aren't you telling us?\" Yuri asked.\n \n\"I'd rather not say, alright??\" Merrick said, \"Please, lets\njust move!\" He said, clutching onto the shell he just collected.\n \n\"C'mon, Yuri,\" Jamal said as he put his hand on her\nshoulder, \"Leave'em alone. It's none of our bidness.\"\n \n\"It is our business if whatever it is comes for us!\" Yuri\nretorted.\n \n\"I told you, it doesn't want you!\" Merrick said, \"It wants\nme, ok?!\" He said, \"Please... I don't want to think about it...\" Yuri sighed as she\nnodded.\n \n\"Alright, Merrick, I'll leave it there...\"\n \n \n~~~\n \n \nMerrick is walking along the beach, over towards the pier,\nwearing his fishnet tanktop-short jersey shorts combo. The merman looked at the\nsea, making sure to keep as far away from the shore as he can. \n \nHe's not too thrilled about coming to the part of the pier,\nbut he feels his has to. \n \nThe merman then saw her, playing with a few shards of a\nbroken mirror. Belinda then looked up at him, and stood up, looking at him a\nseriously as Merrick is looking at her.\n \nHe walked up to her, and held out an envelope, \"I'm sure you\nalready know, but here's the formal invitation.\" He said as he held out an\nenvelope. The Holsien took it from him.\n \n\"Tanks you...\"\n \n\"I thought you were living with your human.\"\n \n\"I am... He is werking...\" She said shortly, \"Dis is my spot...\"\n \n\"Hmph... A Sea Spot...\" He said.\n \n\"A... What?\" Belinda ask.\n \n\"Never mind. Just an inside joke,\" Merrick then walked past\nher, and paused, \"By the way... Thank you for saving Adam...\" He said. Belinda\nturned around, and looked at the back of him with surprise - shocked, even,\nthat he's talking to her besides yelling at her like the first time they met.\nThen, her purple eyes darted to the tribal heart design on the back of his\nneck.\n \n\"You... Dat symbol-\"\n \n\"My Sister,\" Merrick said, without turning around, \"Thought\nthat if she killed Adam, then I could come back to the pod...\" He said as he put\na hand over the symbol, \"That's why I called you... He said he's done a lot for\nyou, I figured you could help...\"\n \n\"Hmph,\" Belinda said, \"Even eef I am Latolcus?\" Merrick\nsighed aggravatingly before he turned around.\n \n\"My Father...\" He said as he glared at Belinda, \"Was\nparticularly hateful towards merfolk who stray from what he called the 'Proper\nGuidance',\" He said, \"I once saw him bellow at an Amnien meryin who happened to\nbe Coshiton...\" He said as he looked directly at her, \"I really don't like what\nI take after of him.\" Belinda sneered at Merrick.\n\n\"Den you must hate yourrsalf in dat tought.\" Merrick narrowed his eyes.\n \n\"You have no idea, how long and how much I hate myself,\nBlood Thief.\" He retorted. Belinda's expression softened; that was only a joke,\n\"So I guess that would make two of us who can't forgive what we've done.\"\nBelinda blinked in surprise at the merman.\n \n\"What... How-\"\n \n\"I may not be a Noita, but it's in your eyes...\" Merrick said,\n\"I've seen that guilt and shame in MY eyes every time I see my reflection.\n \n\"See you at the party.\" He said as he turned around, and\nwalked off.\n \n\"...Wait, hold on,\" Merrick said as he turned around, \"I have\nto ask you something.\" Merrick said as he turned back around, and went to\nBelinda. She looked curiously at him, rather taken aback from this less-hostile\nattitude of his.\n \n\"... Yes?\"\n \n\"You know about Capricorns, right?\"\n \n\"Yees. I hab only seen one in my life, dough.\" Belinda\nreplied.\n \n\"What did it do to you? I mean, did it... Touch you?\"\n \n\"Well...\" Belinda thought for a moment, \"All eet deed was\nnuzzle my shoulda,\" She put her hand onto the curvy symbol on her left\nshoulder, \"And den eet just... Vaneeshed...\"\n \n\"... Just like that? It never came back?\"\n \n\"No. I been in deh sea many time, and eet nevrr seen one\nagain.\"\n \n\"When was this?\" Merrick asked, almost urgently.\n \n\"Many, many moons ago,\" She answered, \"Long time before I\neben met my love in teh ret moon,\" She then looked at Merrick, \"Why do you ask?\nEes dis about deh Capricorn dat came to you dat time ago?\"\n \n\"Yes...\" Merrick said as he rubbed the back of his neck again,\n\"It's been 2 moons since I last went into the ocean, and a few days ago, when I\nwent to go get a shell for Adam and...\" He paused, before looking aside.\n \nBelinda stared at him, tilting her head at him, \"What?\"\n \n\"... Never mind,\" Merrick said as he turned around, and walked\naway.\n \n \n~~~\n \n \nAdam sighed as he clocked out, and stepped into the garage.\n \n\"ADAM!\" \n \n\"Oh- Omf!\" Adam smiled as he hugged his boyfriend, \"Hey\nbaby!\" He kissed him lovingly, and looked at him, \"You ready to go?\"\n \n\"Uh-huh!\" Merrick said as they held hands and walked over to\nhis motorcycle. He put on his leather jacket and helmet, and gave Merrick a\nwhite helmet with a blue design of a fish. After Merrick has his head covered,\nthey mounted his motorbike, and rode off along the pier. \n \n \nThey're just going to hang out the aquarium, and then go\nhome for cake and presents. He's a little nervous about bringing Merrick to a\nplace like an aquarium; being a merman, he might be able to tell whether or not\nthe animals there are content being there. Then again, it probably wouldn't be\nas bad if he ever took him to Sea World; from what he hears, the whales and\ndolphins there are mistreated. If that's true, then he does NOT want Merrick to\nhave an episode like he did with Mermaids: The Body Found.\n \n \nSoon, the rumbling motor vehicle came to a stop in front of\na large building with glass doors, and several abstract bronze statues of sea\nanimals here and there in front of it. He parked the motorcycle in front of it,\nand dismounted it. Merrick took off his helmet, and gave it to Adam.\n \n\"You sure you don't want me to get you a leather jacket,\nbabe?\" Adam asked as he stowed the helmets into the large pouch.\n \n\"I told you, Adam,\" Merrick said, \"I'm resistant to the\ncold. The winds don't bother me at all.\"\n \n\"Alright,\" Adam said, \"Lets go,\" He and Merrick held hands\nas they went into the front doors. Merrick looked in awe as he saw the first\ninitial tank of the aquarium - a giant wall of 12inch thick glass with a built\ninto the building.\n \n\"By the depths...\" Merrick said in amazement as he put his\nhand on the glass. Adam smiled as he looked at his merman, \"It's... It's just\nlike the reef by the house...\" He hushed in astonishment.\n \n\"Can you talk to them from here? The fish, I mean,\" Adam\nasked.\n \n\"No. Not with this barrier here,\" Merrick said as he slapped\nthe glass, \"Besides, my signal doesn't work when I'm in this form. It only\nworks when I'm underwater.\" Merrick said, \"I just... It's amazing how huma- I\nmean people, how they can use these invisible walls like this...\" He said,\nabsolutely thrilled.\n \n\"C'mon, babe,\" Adam said as he put his arms around Merrick,\n\"There's more where that came from.\"\n \n\"Hehe, ok Adam.\"\n \n \n~~~\n \n \nThey walked through the aquarium, Merrick smiling as he saw\na ring-shaped tank with moon jellies orbiting in a color-changing electric\nlight. He looked in awe as a cuttlefish tackled another creature, even the\nvarious tanks of colorful tropical fish swimming in built environments.\n \n\"It's amazing,\" Merrick said, \"It's like humans can create\nANYTHING!\" He said as he looked around the aquatic establishment.\n \n\"Which reminds me, we got to get you a new outfit,\" Adam\nsaid as he plucked at the fishnet shirt, \"There are other clothes besides\nfishnets and jerseys ya know.\"\n \n\"Hehehe, but I like theeeem!\" He moaned, \"I don't like\nwearing clothes; I don't see how you hum- PEOPLE, sorry - can wear heavy sails\naround your bodies all the time!\"\n \n\"Well, if my parents ever visit, you're wearing regular\nclothes,\" Adam said as he and Merrick walked along.\n \n\"Oh come oooooonnn!\" The merman complained.\n \n \nMoments later, just when they were going to see the tide\npools, Merrick suddenly tugged at Adam's arm, \"A-Adam, let's go to the um...\nEating place here...\"\n \n\"You mean the café?\"\n \n\"Yes, that!
