McCain?\"\n\"Yes Ma'am?\"\nTerry jumped up from his seat as the nurse called his name.\n\"There's been\nsome confusion with the paperwork,\" the charge nurse told him as she looked at\na pair of clipboards. \"We have you named as the father of the children from two\nof our mothers, tonight.\"\n\"Abigale and\nMarcy?\" he asked and the woman's eyes went flat. \"Both are correct,\" he told\nher with a smile which turned his cheeks deep red.\n\"Uh-huh,\" the nurse\nreplied with fierce disapproval written on every bit of her.\n\"Are they\nalright?\" he almost shouted as the heat in his blood spurred him into\nsemi-hysterical concern.\n\"For now,\" the\nnurse told him, \"but there were some ... complications. Trauma to the basal layer\nlooks bad enough to scar. It's unlikely either woman will have children again.\"\n\"But they're\nalright,\" Terry said as the fear which had gripped him began to relax its hold.\n\"Don't look too\nrelieved,\" the nurse spoke with a disapproving look.\n\"When the\ndoctors took them out for surgery,\" Terry told the nurse. \"I didn't know if\nthey'd make it.\"\n\"Uh-huh,\" the\nnurse huffed with an unpleasant look.\n\"So,\" Terry\ntook a breath and then asked the question which had stuck in his throat, \"how\nare my babies?\"\n\"Well,\" the\nnurse scowled, \"you'll be happy to know you're the proud father of a baby boy\nand a baby girl. And for some reason they both want to see you. I should warn\nyou polygamy is still illegal in this country, Mr. McCain.\"\n\"Only if I\nmarry the both of them,\" Terry told her with a sheepish grin, \"and Marcy already\nsaid no.\"\n\"Interesting,\"\nthe nurse commented with an annoyed twitch. \"Sign here, please.\" He scribbled. \"And\nhere.\" He scribbled again. \"This way, please. You may now see your ... family.\"\nTerry nodded\ndumbly as he stepped through the doors to where they were waiting for him. He\nhad gone into a dead panic when the doctors declared they were going to have to\noperate. A bunch of medical jargon had flown through the air to tell him that\nsomething had gone horribly wrong and the lives of both mothers and children\nwere in danger. Now as he moved through the halls, he heard the sweet sound of\ncrying infants.\nThe mini-squalls\ncut off almost immediately upon him entering the room. Abigale and Marcy had\nbeen put side-by-side and each of them held a small bundle in their arms. The\nordeal had left both women looking exhausted and worn, but the smiles on their\nfaces told of their elation.\nThey survived ... they all survived.\nTears began to\nwell up in Terry's eyes as he moved over to Abigail's bed and stared down at\nhis son. Deep blue eyes stared up at him and the boy's mother let out a weak\nlaugh.\n\"He was waiting\nfor you,\" she told him.\n\"So is this\none,\" Marcy called from the other bed, \"come see.\"\nTerry moved to\nthe other bed where his daughter lay and she too looked up at him with wide and\ncurious eyes. Something about their gazes looked strange in his mind. They were\ntoo searching ... too intelligent ... too ... aware. Or maybe this is how all fathers see their children.\n\"Whoa,\" he\nbreathed, \"I ... I don't know what to do. They're so beautiful. I ... I just.\"\n\"Oh, sit down\nbefore ya fall,\" Marcy scolded him gently, and his rear quickly found a seat.\n\"We were\ntalking about you,\" Abigale told Terry, and her face told him there was another\nhard truth coming.\n\"You ... don't\nwant me in the picture,\" he predicted.\n\"It wouldn't be\nfair to you,\" Marcy told him. \"We kinda used you to get these little critters\nand now ...\"\n\"Now I'm in the\nway,\" Terry lamented.\n\"Terry,\"\nAbigale told him, \"what we did ... it was wrong ... but I don't want you to-\"\n\"No,\" Terry cut\nher off, \"you don't get to do that now. Those are my children. Mine. You don't get to dangle them in\nfront of me and then tell me I can't be a part of their lives.\"\n\"So, what's\nyour plan, kid?\" Marcy asked with a furrowed brow.\n\"I'm going with\nyou,\" he told her. \"I've got my own place and a job. If you move ... you tell me\nwhere and I'll set up somewhere nearby. Dads are important ... even if they've\ngot two moms they still need me.\"\n\"Well damn,\"\nMarcy scowled as she looked over at Abigale, \"you were right.\"\n\"Told you,\" the\nbrunette mother said with a glimmer in her eyes. \"He's one in a million.\"\n\"Fine,\" Marcy\nhuffed, \"but he doesn't get to put his dick in me again ... it was just that one\ntime.\"\n\"But I can\nstill have him ... right?\" Abigale asked Marcy hopefully.\n\"As long as you\ndo it on your own time,\" the older of the two women conceded. \"I still need my\nAbby-time.\"\nTerry was grateful\nthat he was already sitting because his whole body went rubbery when Abigale\nturned her gaze back to him.\n\"You don't need\nto get your own place, Terry,\" Marcy told him with her businesswoman voice.\n\"We'll get a house and you'll stay with us. Abby and I get a bedroom and you'll\nget your own. I was going to be mean and get you a twin-bed but I don't want my\nAbby being uncomfortable when she's getting all freaky with you or having you get your boy juice all\nover our bed ... so, I'll get you a queen.\"\n\"Uhm ... thanks,\"\nTerry managed to say as his head swam. \"So ... what's next?\"\n\"Next, I need a\nnap,\" Marcy told him as she leaned back and held their daughter to breast.\n\"Yeah,\" Abigale\nnodded as she did the same, \"that sounds nice.\"\nTerry looked\nbetween the two of them with a helpless expression on his face. I thought I had been found by a pair of\ncougars ... only to discoverer a pride of lionesses. Then he looked at his\nchildren and he could not help but smile.\nI am a buck ripe for slaughter ... and though this adventure is somewhere I have\nnever travelled ... gladly do I go into that blessed night.\n \nTHE END","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/286985-unintended-intruder-11.json"}
