Soon after a gaseous\nsubstance began to spray forth from its oddly shaped ears. Slowly the gas cloud\ndrifted downward, I ran past it, only after the sweet aroma touched my nose.\nRunning a few more yards, I looked back at the flashing red eye having eerily\nturned in my direction. Out of breath from pure exhilaration, I gulped in as\nmuch air as I could before turning and breaking into a dash. Nearly crashing\ninto another robotic monstrosity rising out of the ground. Caught by surprise,\nmy feet slid to a stop as I landed on my bum. My eyes travelling upward, I\nstared in dumbfounded awe at the metallic obstruction as it blared to life.\nIt's flashing red eye, swirled in a hypnotic fashion. This one spoke in their\nnative language, with a cute friendly tone. \"Fellow citizen, if you go any\nfurther, you will be killed. There is still time to turn back.\" It said.  I kept going. Running past it, a yard or two more out in the\ndistance I stopped to look back. My hands were on my knees, I was breathing\nheavily. The metal cat, having turned its infrared gaze, intent on seeing which\nway I was walking. Feeling light headed, I coughed up a single drop of blood\nbefore something exploded to my left. I felt an impact hit me on the left side,\nthe violent push knocked me off my feet, and sent me flying to the right with\ntremendous force. Landing hard on the pebbled dirt, my ears rang with a high\npitched whine as I sat up. Looking at the pool of blood which had been expelled\nfrom my mouth and my nose, I sat in a hunched over position overcome with\nexhaustion. Off in the distance I saw a black figure rise from the ground,\nthinking it was another metallic obstruction I shrugged it off. When it began\nto approach, that's when my heart skipped a beat and I felt overcome by a\npanicked tremble. The distant silhouette sent tremors through the earth, and\nas it loomed closer I recognized it as the scientist whom I belonged to. His\neyes were but slits in the bright otherworldly sun, his gaze focused onto me as\nhe took immense strides. With look of sadistic, hateful, contempt on his face\nas each paw pressed into the soft ground with a powerful shocking thud. I could\ntell that the scientist was beyond angry, beyond the point of reason. As both\npaws were placed a great width apart, my tiny form was insignificantly huddled\nbetween immense black furred paws. I looked up at the towering monstrosity\nlooming above. Jaws parted and unleashed a single powerful roar. With it he brought\ntears into my eyes and instilled an everlasting fear into my very being as I\ncovered my ears, shivering with terror. Feeling the ground tremble as his weight shifted, my eyes\nturned to see one of his massive paws compact the ground tightly. Pressing into\nthe rough earth with tremendous pressure, the fluffy toes sank just a bit\nbefore the ground would no longer yield. I saw just a small sliver of his sharp\nwhite claws peek from the slits in those massive toes, as his paw came to a\nstop. I began to sob as my eyes gazed at the massive heel in the distance,\nfollowing the black contour of silky fur to a large pad long enough to crush\ntwenty of me across its leathery surface. Three clawed toes began to slowly\nlower down as I shook my head, coughing up blood. The pressure squeezed the air\nfrom my lungs, as my vision faded in an agonizingly slow and painful death.\nWhen everything turned black, I waited to hear the audible crunch of my ribs\nbreaking, but the scientist stopped himself. As I overheard muffled roars, I\ndesperately needed to breathe, using whatever strength I could muster. My jaw\nground open, as my lips parted against the rough pad, using my tongue I poked\nat the heavy leathery surface covering my mouth. Tasting bits of sand and rock,\nI didn't care for the texture, the act of desperation gave just enough room for\na tiny bit of musky, but still breathable air. The paw peeled off of me, as the mountainous feline was\ndragged back by two of his own. Their grips firmly securing the black furred scientist,\ndragging him away from my barely alive corpse. I heard his roars of frustration\necho up from the elevator, as he was bitterly trying to return to a cool\ndemeanor. Lying on the ground, every breath of air I gasped came at such a\npainful price but, I endured it all. Time seemed to slow down more than ever,\nas my senses returned some ribs were cracked but not a single one broken, I sat\nup and slowly tumbled forward. Managing to stand up, I stood in place for a\nlong time, my world was spinning out of control. Dizzy and disoriented, as I\ntook my first step I began stumbling diagonally to the left, I lost all balance\nas I came to the edge of that large depression in the earth, and I fell into\nthe paw print as my vision turned to darkness. ...I don't remember how I even got out of my cell. No coherent\nmemories of a continuous series of events leading up to being there. I was\nnever outside, it was all a clever simulation to see how far I could run. I\nhave always been an indoor cat."}
