Saw the full moon tonight, and figured, \"Why not?\" Apologies in advance for any errors found. The imagery is drawn from Mohawk traditions about the Moon and Sun, respectively.","content":"On the Moon\n\nBy Mohawk Puma\n\nLook upon the Moon,\n\nsee her lovely silver face.\n\nWise grandmother, keeper of the tide,\n\ngrandmother to all children.\n\nThe People look to her and say,\n\n\"Keep us safe, Grandmother,\n\nYou who watch over the night,\n\nthe tides, our children, our women.\n\nGuide us and protect us, through the\n\nLong nights of winter.\"\n\nAnd the Moon does this, for she smiles\n\nupon her children. And they\n\nhonour her with ceremonies and praise.\n\nFor it is she, and the Elder Brother, the Sun,\n\nwho watch over the skies, night and day.\n\nSo it shall be, and so it ever will.\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
