#1 of Short tales

A lone wolf walking down in a cold night of winter chasing a white rabbit that eluded him for weeks, found him self lost in an unknown territory. the still open wounds from the fight that forced him to leave the pack made walking down the snow even more painful...

alone in the dark the smell of the elusive rabbit was the only thing motivating him to keep going, it had been days since his last meal and he knew if he didn't eat anything, soon he would probably exhaust the remaining energy of his dying body... it was hard to tell what was more painful the still bleeding wounds, or the memories of the selfish life he lived, only now lost in a unknown territory far from home and everything he once knew he realized how dependent he was from others, and how he never worried for the people that once formed his family...
it was only now that he understood the mistakes he made and how the decisions he took forced him into a narrow path preventing him from turning away or walking back and he had saw only one path left to follow....
after walking into the total darkness of a cloudy night the lone wolf found him self at the edge of a frozen lake he stood there for quiet some time trying to gather the remaining energy on his body when a sudden winter breeze could be felt like razors cutting small wounds directly into the skin the sudden wind pushed the clouds allowing a full moon to illuminate the sky and reflect all its beauty over the frozen lake.
at that moment the wolf saw across the lake the shadow of something moving... he searched the air for a trace of smell, after a couple of sniffs he thought he caught the smell of that elusive bunny... he thought in the possibilities... walking around the lake would take too long and the rabbit would be gone by the time he reached the other side, but if crossed over the lake he would probably die like he have seen it happen in the past.
for a couple of seconds he found him self trapped in a difficult situation, take one last risk and get his pray or take the safe road and risk to lose the trace again...
he took a couple of steps back... he gather the remaining force in hes almost death body and charged at high speed towards the moving shadow, he had almost made it it was passed hall ways that enormous frozen lake when he realized something... the shadow across the lake was not the elusive rabbit it was a young cub with a paw trapped in a death bush... the moment he realized that he stooped in the middle of the lake forgetting completely where he was or what he was doing... he stood there contemplating the young cub crying for help... several minutes passed and he saw a pack of wolves approaching the young cub crying for help.
that same moment he heard the ice crack bellow hes feet. he know what was about to happen... but instead of trying to escape or give a last fight... he stood there waiting for the unavoidable consequences of the path he chose.
suddenly the light started to banish and he felt an excruciating pain all over his body... breathing become impossible and he knew what was about to happen. but he did not fought he gave up and accepted hes faith...
after a couple of seconds felling hes life escape in a wave of pain... everything started to fade away, there was no cold the hunger stopped the memories hunting like shadows started to fade... it was a relief there was no more pain no more cold no more hunger no more loneliness... he knew it was the end... but he did not fought back it was pointless givien the choices he took when he has alive.
it was the end.
the end of the road he chose to walk.
