The Prologue is now complete and the main storyline can begin.","content":"Ragnorak awoke to the sound of multiple high pitched shrieks. He immediately sprung up and grabbed hold of his knife, quickly he sprinted towards the back of the cave to locate the shrieks.\n\nAs he returned to the area he noticed it wasn't as dark as it was during the night although he did have to adjust to the dim lighting. Crawling along the floor were sixteen kobold infants shrieking out for their mother. Ragnorak lowered his knife and stared at them in shock and disbelief.\n\n\"Where in the hell did they come from?!\"\n\nHe knew that they had obviously come from the eggs but questioned their sudden appearance. She had just laid those eggs. Upon hearing his voice they called out to him and and started following the sound of his voice.\n\nRagnorak took a step back seeing them begin to crawl towards him. His voice deepened into a growl as he spoke in a harsh draconic tongue.\n\n\"No! I am not your mother!\"\n\nThey whimpered at his tone, not having an understanding of what his words meant stopping briefly. The lizard man turned around and pinched the indents at his eyes in frustration.\n\n\"Alright, there's sixteen tiny kobolds that are motherless and you have a gnoll to track down...\"\n\nHis thinking aloud only brought the kobolds closer to him.\n\n\"I can either A, leave them here by themselves and go off to find that damned Venri'is, or B, take them with me for a bit until I find a place where they can be left and I can continue on my own.\"\n\nAs he continued to weigh his options for better or for worse, the tiny kobolds continued inching their way toward him.\n\n\"Hmm what to do...\"\n\nHe paused before looking up.\n\n\"That's it!\"\n\nThe whelps latched on to his feet and nuzzled against him. He looked down at them sighing loudly.\n\n\"Great...Looks like I'll have to deal with the lot of you.\"\n\nLeaning down he picked them up one by one placing the young on his arm. Slowly he walked back towards the entrance. Looking out and listening closely it was still raining heavily.\n\n\"Of course....\"\n\nHe looked at the helpless young kobolds with a glare. The lizardman leaned against the wall nearby his temporary camp site and slumped down until he sat on the ground.\n\n\"It seems as though I'm stuck here...\" He began. \"Raising kobolds for the time being...\" Those words he growled out in anger.\n\nThe kobolds huddled closer to him for warmth, gently nuzzling his chest they began to rest.\n\nRagnorak sighed out. Thinking about where he ended up, Ragnorak growled. Here he was looking after 16 kobolds, stuck in a cave due to the rain, when he was supposed to be tracking down his target.\n\n\"Great...\"\n\nHe looked to the mouth of the cave. The rain hadn't seemed to ease up. A growl escaped him.\n\n\"Just you wait Venri'is...I'm coming for you.\"\n\nThe kobolds shifted in his arms and snored gently. Ragnorak emitted a low growl making them settle down in one spot.\n\nIt was still mid morning and Ragnorak went deep into thought.\n\n\"I don't even know where to begin with these runts...I shouldn't have helped...\" He mentally sighed. \"Although it was for the best that I did.\"\n\nThe lizardman looked down at the sixteen tiny kobolds trying to decide what to do with them.\n\n\"It's still to early to say I guess. And since the rain has yet to stop, I can safely say that Venri'is probably didn't make it too much further.\"\n\nA slight grin came about his face at that realization.\n\nThe kobolds nuzzled into his chest, each with a smile causing the lizardman to groan.\n\nHe looked down at them glaring only to see the sixteen innocently shifting to find more warmth.\n\nRagnorak sighed pulling them closer against his body.\n\n\"I really got myself into this...\"\n\nHe closed his eyes and sank down the wall.\n\n\"Hmm...\"\n\nHe decided to try and get some rest again slumping his head to the side. In a matter of minutes he found himself resting.\n\nFor now Ragnorak's mission was put on a temporary hiatus. His new task would prove to be his most difficult he's ever faced.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Chaotic Time wizard series","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/745795-king-of-the-kobolds-prologue-part-1-wait-until-the-mourning.json"}}
