So, gather round the campfire and listen close...","content":"Kalokin slithered over to just in front of the Illusion wall and coiled himself comfortably. His eyes lost focus as he started swaying to an unheard rhythm. All light in Magma darkened before spilling through the air to paint a vast vista behind him. Two gods screamed across the sky over a world of barren rock. A soft sound filtered through the air, music just barely loud enough to hear. A harp, a flute, and a simple drum played a plain, repeating tune that matched Kalokin's swaying. He inhaled softly, and when he spoke, his voice flowed without pause, like soft sand through the sky.\n\nLong ago and all too near, two gods owned the sky,  \nOne of silver, one of gold, and wicked did they cry,  \nEndless battles, did they fight, and endless sparks did fly.\n\nThose that fell to hit the rock, did crack and carve it deep  \nBreak the rock and sow the land, ending peaceful sleep  \nAnd now beset with broken form, softly did she weep.\n\nNew sparks fell, of softer kind, to generate new life,  \nPain and sorrow, endless theirs, suffering was rife,  \nBut carve a life and home they did, despite unending strife.\n\nMortals lived and mortals died and gods above did war  \nIgnorant of land below, survival was a chore  \nOn and on their battle waged, as endless as before.\n\nBut sacrifice did sway their fight, and Gold rose up as king.  \nSilver died a painful death, life severed as a string,  \nThough those who worshipped screamed below, they could do no\u0026nbsp;thing.\n\nHis body lays there broken, battered, high in the night sky.  \nLeft as a reminder, for all who ask him \"Why?\"  \n\u0026nbsp;But now their god was silent, though loudly did they cry\n\nHis strength now bathes the land below, gives nourishment and light.  \nRegret is his, not even Death, would stay to share his plight.  \nWhile Silver's corpse lays broken, high within the frosty night\n\nThe illusion ended with a scarred world to match the broken moon, kept company by a single burning star. Light faded back in, and Kalokin's eyes slowly gained focus. He turned back to the audience and spoke in a normal cadence, albeit at a softer volume.\n\n\"The winter solstice draws near. It has always been a time of giving, a time of charity, to give to those who have less and share what you have with those who have not. Many of you have travelled far and wide, and I know not what cultures you come from, but in the deserts, there is a tradition. On this, the eve of the solstice, any naga, and now, any mortal, may ask me any single question. If the answer exists, I will answer that question. If you ask something outside my knowledge, you may ask again. Do not feel obliged to answer, but to those with a curiosity in your hearts, now is the time to gain a secret...\"\n\nSo, I'm bored and I wanted to do something fun and odd for the holidays. Think of this as a kind of... open RP? maybe? It's just that Kalokin has an insanely detailed and convoluted past, and It'll be ages until I get the chance to tell all of it. In addition to that, I like to play mind games, and I like to see how many subtle hints I can toss about like scattered bread crumbs before someone pieces together a toasted slice of information, spread with a blackberry jam of... you know, I've completely lost track of where this metaphor was going. But back to subject. If you had any questions to ask, ask in the comments! Just be warned that the answers might not be what you'd expect...\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Child of the Sands","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/781803-not-for-no-reason-ch-4.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/812835-decisions-and-regrets-ch-5.json"}}
