Okay, that sounded silly, and you can easily guess what I usually read.

Part 01"Excuse
me."

"Huh?"

From the
scrubs, the figure of a young male wolf emerged. He wore a green jacket over a
white shirt and brown slacks, a black and green tie around his neck.

The one he
spoke to, and who leaked a surprised sound, stood by the riverside. She was
motionless, and her mouth was slightly agape with wide eyes. This was
understandable, for she never expected for someone to appear in a far away
place like this.

Moreover,
she was in a rather compromising state right now.

There was
not, even one piece of cloth on her body.

Fair pink
skin was exposed, glistening with water droplets under the rays of sun like a
tempting and ripe sweet peach. Her figure was like a goddess, proportionate and
with seductive curves, her ample bosom full, plump, and inviting. A golden
mantle fell over her shoulders and down to her waist; though heavy with water,
her hair was abundant and silky. Her wide open eyes showcased her brilliant
sapphire eyes filled with surprise.

Ten of ten,
hundred of a hundred, thousand of a thousand people would coincide that this
human girl was a beauty. Maybe an angel sent from heaven to heal the hearts of
the people with her presence.

A moment,
maybe two passed in silence.

The
beautiful girl raised both her arms. With one she covered her naked chest. The
other she held it towards the trespasser.

With her
sapphire eyes she began to see the ether threads, and using her will she weaved
them, casting her magic.

"Wait,
wait, wait!"

The young
wolf raised his arms and waved them panicky.

The
beautiful maiden ignored his plea and continued, the ethereal wove almost
complete.

"Please
wait! I'm just lost! I just wanted to ask for directions!"

That got
the maiden's attention. She stopped weaving the ether threads, but maintained
the unfinished wove just in case.

She
observed the male wolf in front of her. The fur that was uncovered by the
uniform had a color close to white, and it had an unruly appearance obvious
even from distance. His height was nothing impressive, but his body build under
his clothes was defined, not bulging with muscles but in good shape. As he held
up his big paws his eyes were closed tight.

"Don't
think that closing your eyes you can excuse yourself!"

"Closing my
eyes? No, that's, they're always like this."

"What do you
mean?"

"I can't
see. I have glass eyes."

The maiden
made an unconvinced expression.

It wasn't
because she didn't know what glass eyes were. She knew, that those with glass eyes
were those who couldn't see the light, who were blind to the images of the
world. What the wolf was trying to say was that he literally couldn't see her.

But she was
doubtful seeing his uniform. That uniform, Caliza Academy's uniform, meant that
he was student like her.

How could a
person with glass eyes enter the academy?

Caliza
Academy, a specialized military academy where promising youths gathered. Here,
these youths were taught physical combat, magic combat, arments engineering, grantmor
operating, among other courses. Their objective, everyone had the same.

To fight against
the Mirages.

The Mirages,
practically unknown entities. They appeared out from nowhere and caused
destruction without sensible reason. With no felt presence, they had no smell,
they made no sound when moving or even when they attacked with atrocious
strength; the only sound was that of debris falling or lives being cut short.

They could
only be perceived through the sense of sight, the Mirages.

They were
this world's biggest threat.

How could a
person who couldn't see fight against them?

It was impossible
for someone like that to enter this academy. Thus, his claim must be false,
it's what she thought.

The young
wolf cocked his head.

"Ehm,
excuse me but, could it be that you aren't wearing clothes?"

"Yes?"

The
beautiful maiden again leaked a sound of surprise.

As she
stared at the wolf's face with his closed eyes she thought that this gesture
looked really natural on him, like if he always had them closed. The feeling
that he was telling the truth grew inside her and with it the ether threads dispersed.

The young
male seemed to ponder something, before opening again his maw and speaking in a
sober tone.

"If you
don't believe me then, would it be alright if I told you that I'm gay and I
have not interest in your body?"

"... Yes?"

<><><>

Caliza Academy
For Specialized Combat Studies, or more commonly know simply as Caliza Academy.
It's a prestigious academy of which kind only one existed in this country and
the neighboring ones. Part of the Global Anti-Mirage Initiative, it is an
institution which receives students from all across the continent, without
discrimination of their race, place of birth, or gender. Built with this in
mind, it was constructed as an enormous facility comparable with a city, with natural
site grounds that extended for kilometers. These ample grounds were used for
field exercises like survival and live combat practice.

The war
against the Mirages was this harsh.

Not that
far from the academy facilities, but still deep into the forest grounds, two
students from this academy walked next to each other.

One was a
young male wolf. He had unruly fur and held his eyes closed as he walked. His
expression was a little cramped though; the reason for this was the young lady
next him.

She was a
beauty like few in the world, with golden hair and a killer body, her sapphire
eyes were striking. She showed a discontented expression, and was clearly in a
sour mood which seemed to emanate from her like waves. These waves were like a
tropical storm sent to attack the wolf.

"May I ask
what are you angry about?"

Seeking to
break the bad atmosphere, the wolf finally asked with a polite tone.

"I'm not
angry, and you don't have to concern yourself with me. You are, after all, gay
and totally, completely, not even the slightest interested in me."

She spoke
with a tone like pouting. However, since her voice was clear and melodious like
a song, it was not the least unpleasant and some would say it was actually a
cute sound.

'What is
there to be dissatisfied about that?' Is what the male wolf wanted to ask. She
did not sound like a narcissist person who thought everyone had to love her.
And it was useless to try to gauge her beauty in the first place, as he could
not see her.

Also, when
did his interest become that small?

The pair
walked across the forest, evading trees and in silence. The terrain was not
rough as it was one of the plainest areas not really used for training, but it
was popular for outings. The root of a tree stood out from the ground in the
wolf's path. He made a movement to evade it, raising his leg a bit higher, but
he failed to evade it completely and the tips of his toes knocked on the wood.
However, he did not lose his balance, and actually recovered quickly.

The female
student saw this with inquisitive sapphire eyes, and some gravity entered her
expression.

"I'll ask
this: Are you serious?"

"... Huh?
Serious? About what?"

"About you
having glass eyes. I've seen you walking through this forest with your eyes
closed and you move pretty well for someone who can't see. Didn't your actually
want to mean you have glassed eyes?"

"No, I
truly have glass eyes."

With a
shake of his head the wolf dismissed her supposition.

Although
they sound similar, glass eyes and glassed eyes were different as day and
night.

Those with
glassed eyes are the ones who cannot see the ether in the world, but still
retain their vision. Since they couldn't see the ether threads they could not weave
them and thus couldn't cast magic. However, this did not mean they could not
lead a normal life. They often suffered from sight imparities like loss of
vision or nearsightedness though.

On the
other paw, someone with glass eyes can't see at all, simple and total darkness.
Of course, they cannot use magic either.

Walking
without crashing into a tree or tripping on a rock or a root, this wolf did not
seem like someone who could only see black.

"I can't
see, but I am not completely blind."

"Yes? Do
you mean that you can see in a different way? That you see the world with
another sight?"

"Well,
yes."

The maiden
words were meant to be admonishing, but the wolf responded light as a feather.
Though she was astonished for a moment, she did not falter at this unexpected
response and probed further.

"Is that
so? Care to explain?"

"Sorry,
Safiro-senpai, but it's kind of a personal matter so I hope you can spare me
this one."

"... Yes, I
think it is really not my place to intrude."

Letting out
a sigh filled with her feelings of suspicion she, Clarabelle Safiro, relaxed
her features.

She was a
second year student in Caliza Academy. Having changed into her clothes, she now
wore a green vest over a white blouse, her brown skirt falling gracefully to
knee height. A black and green ribbon hung from her collar, and as she was human
she wore black shoes with thigh-height white socks.

Calming her
mind, she began to internally admonish herself.

As an
upperclassman, it was her duty to guide and support her underclassmen. Her
attitude just now had been overly harsh, because she couldn't believe what he
was saying. Holding high pride as a student of Caliza Academy, the wolf's words
felt like a mockery towards the institution which trained those who would
continue to protect the world in the fight against the Mirages.

But if he
was wearing the academy uniform, it meant that he had been evaluated capable by
the teachers. As a proud student she had to believe in their judgment.

Still, she
was curious about how it possible.

Moreover,
the color of his jacket. It was the most contradictory.

This wolf,
Marcolup Luz, was a freshman of Caliza Academy. The academic year had yet to actually
begin, but both new and returning students were arriving already.

As Caliza
Academy's grounds were as big as a state and it was dangerous for civilians to
live close to where real combat practices were often conducted, it was
inevitably a boarding school. All students, and academy personnel, were housed
in the Living Area.

"So, did
Marcolup really lose his way into the forest? We met at a quite deep part of
it."

"Marco is
fine, and yes. I must admit that my parents offered to take me to the housings,
but I told them that I could manage it on my own. However, it really was too
much for me."

While it
was not prohibited for outside people to enter most of the facilities,
including the Living Area, it was more common for the parents to drop off their
sons and daughters at the Reception Area. This building was a few kilometers
away from the academy's main facility, but from there the students could take a
private vehicle at a fixed schedule. Luggage was sent to the academy in
advance.

This meant
his parents had taken him to the Reception Area, but then...

"How did you
end here? The bus should've taken you all the way to the Living Area."

"Well yes,
I walked. I didn't take the bus."

"You
walked? From the Reception Area?"

"Yes."

"What were
you thinking?!"

"I wanted
to see the scenery."

"How's that
possible?!"

First
giving an outburst of incredulity, and then putting her hand over her lips, her
expression changed quickly. Color drained from her lovely face, and guilt
entered her sapphire eyes.

How could
she say such a thing? Even if she still didn't completely believe that he had
glass eyes, such insensible things were things she shouldn't say.

"Hahaha,
that was a nice comeback, senpai!"

Yet, seeming
to ignore her ghastly feelings, Marco gave a heartfelt laugh. She dropped her
arms to the sides and continued walking besides the wolf.

Silence
dawned between the two, and it continued like that for a while.

They were
coming close of the academy grounds, but only the quiet sounds of nature could
be heard. Classes were yet to start so the loud noises of heavy machinery that
often came from the Grantmor Area would not be heard today.

"Do not
mind it, senpai."

"Yes?"

Marco
suddenly broke into the serenade of nature with cheerful words. She, who had
been gloomily brooding over her mistake, raised her face with confused sapphire
eyes.

"If you're
feeling bad over what you said, please do not mind. I do not. Actually, if you
begin to brood alone and go cold on me it will trouble me."

"... Sorry,
it's just that it was really insensible of me. Also, I should have apologized
right away."

"Well, if
it makes you feel better I accept your apology. And then, to lighten the mood I
will have to tell a joke."

"Yes?"

The
confusion turned to bewilderment, and she stared at the unruly furred wolf.
Marco looked deep in thought, and then he spoke with a jovial expression.

"You know,
senpai. I can't see, but with the way I can only [see] I couldn't help but
notice something about sempai."

"Oh, what
is it?"

"That senpai's
chest seems about to burst out of her clothes."

"Wha-?!"

Her mouth
went agape for a moment, before she closed it, a rosy blush spreading on her
cheeks and ears. She then raised her voice, which still was lovely to hear.

"This
impertinent, gay, absolutely not interested in my body kouhai, I'll have to
teach you manners later!"

Part 02

Stepping
inside what would be his housing during his stay in Caliza Academy, Marco felt
a little overwhelmed.

I am truly here

If Marco
had to be honest with himself, even he had doubted he could achieve it. No,
he'd been the one who doubted it the most, as he knew best his own condition.

But here he
was.

When Marco
told his parent he wanted to attend Caliza Academy, they were left speechless. They
didn't take what he said as a bluff for they had seen he had spoken completely serious.
That is why, the words they thought at that moment, they swallowed them like
rocks that settled in their stomachs. That it was impossible, for someone like
him to enter Caliza Academy.

Marco of
course had known what was in their minds. That's why he didn't try to beg or convince
them that it could be possible in a way not short from a miracle. He only asked
them they allowed him a one chance.

One chance
to at least try. Even if he miserably failed.

With their
consent he applied to the initial interview. He wouldn't have found it weird if
he was immediately rejected without a second glance, but the interviewer
received him properly.

After the
standard questions you would expect, the topic of his condition came.

As
expected, the interviewer told him the obvious, that someone like him would not
be able to cope with the curriculum. Caliza Academy was a battle oriented
school after all, with a standard above average.

That's why
Marco used an appeal he had thought of beforepaw.

"Please, just allow me to take the entry
test as everyone else."

"We
can not prepare a special examination just for you."

"Yes,
I know. That is why let me take the same test as everyone else. I will show you
that I don't need any special attention."

Though the
interviewer sounded skeptic at first, when he asked which course Marco wanted
to enroll in his answer seemed to catch the interviewer's curiosity.

So, his application
accepted under the premise of no special treatments, he took the entry test.

He passed.
And like that, he was admitted.

Standing
inside his housing, Marco was nervous, and somewhat scared, but more than
anything elated.

Still, it is rather spacious.

He [looked]
around the room the housing's front door connected to.

The gray
silhouettes in the blackness indicated that this was a living room, with a
table and some seats. There was also a moderated dinner table with some chairs,
and the kitchen was separated from this area only by an open counter. A
corridor ahead seemed to lead to some other rooms.

It was a
nice place, Marco considered. He had expected something much more cramped.

He walked
towards the corridor, whishing to see which his room was, when the door was
suddenly knocked.

A visitor so soon? Is it Safiro-senpai?

Though
unexpected and confused at first, he quickly gathered his bearings and called
to the person at the other side.

"Yes,
please wait a bit. I'm coming."

He turned
around and walked towards the door, when the sound of the lock being opened
reached his ears.

Without
having waited for Marco to reach the door, the sudden visitor had opened it and
made his way in.

The one who
entered was a feline with a big frame. Closing the door behind him, he held a pair
of folders in his other paw. He wore a black suit with blue trims and a blue
tie. Though 'suit' sounded too much of a fancy description, for his clothes
looked more like something a military officer would don. This was the Caliza
Academy instructor's uniform.

However, what
made eyes turn the most, away that's it, was his face.

His fur was
an earthy yellow color with brown stripes, designing him as a tiger race. Round
ears stood on his head with a brown edge. His gaze was sharp as a blade, and
equally threatening-looking. From his stout muzzle four impressive fangs
protruded upwards from the lower jaw reaching a few centimeters.

It was a daunting
face that indeed could be described as beastly.

Of course
Marco couldn't see that.

A big male
with bulging muscles, that's what his [sight] allowed him to [see]. The lean,
not too long tail standing tall behind indicated it was a feline.

Also, a
pair of bright purple orbits.

"So you are
Marcolup Luz?"

The tiger
spoke, making Marco's ears swivel delightedly.

This male's
voice was deep and gruff, and couldn't be called by all means melodious. Actually,
it gave the impression that you were being threatened. But for Marco, who could
only judge a person's first impression by voice, what a manly voice, is what he
thought.

"Yes, and
you might be?"

"Axeljoun
Hacha, your Living Monitor."

The Living
Area of Caliza Academy was one like no other. It was the size of a suburb, and
numerous buildings of a variety of shapes and proportions could be found. To
accommodate its massive student body with a myriad of different circumstances,
this much was a necessity.

Tall
buildings which served as dormitories. Mid-sized edifices where individual and
shared departments could be found. Big-sized houses which served as communal
housings. Small, fancy mansions for those of wealthy background. The Living
Area was divided into smaller sections, each one supervised by two faculty
members.

Marcos'
housing was a basic house type with two rooms for two people each, which could
be said was quite the comfortable arrangement. The reason for this was not
because his parents had paid an additional housing fee. But because of his
glass eyes condition.

It wasn't
that he was receiving special treatment, at least of the considerate sense.

Rather, the
section Marco had been assigned at was a somewhat isolated one, where
troublesome students the academy could not afford to expel where put together
to be under surveillance.

Taking this
into account, it could be actually said that he was receiving special
treatment.

As a
'special trouble student'.

Not that
Marco had to know of this.

One of the
monitors for this section was him, Axeljoun Hacha.

"Come, I
have to say a few things to you."

With a tone
which seemed to convey that there was no other option but to comply, Instructor
Hacha moved towards the living room. Marco followed suit and they took seat in
opposite couches, facing each other. The nondescript coffee table stood in between
the two.

Marco sat quietly, giving the first word to
the monitor.

"I guess,
first I should welcome you to Caliza Academy. Entering here is no small feat so
congratulations."

"Thank
you."

"Next, I'll
put it bluntly. I will re-brief you on the conditions for your stay. Though you
suffer from the condition 'glass eyes', you will not receive any kind of
special consideration. Your academic load and evaluations will be the same as
the others, and if you fail to meet the minimum grade criteria you will be
expelled also the same as the others. Is that clear?"

"Yes."

To the
stern tone of the tiger, Marco responded with a sober voice.

To keep up
with the rest he would have to put much more extra effort, but he wasn't to
back down now.

Instructor
Hacha didn't waste another moment and continued.

"As for you
housing arrangements, you will be living here alone."

"Eh?"

The monitor
said something surprising, making Marco involuntary leak a strange sound.

Marco's
family was, by all means, not a rich family. Though without economic problems,
they were pretty average. As such Marco had applied for the free housing
arrangement, which was his only option.

Actually,
Caliza Academy was an institution sponsored by this country, and the
neighboring ones, and also a part of the Global Anti-Mirage Initiative. It was
tuition-free school where anyone with talent and resolve could study as long as
the curriculum's expectations were met. Boarding, basic meals, and essential
materials were also provided to the students for free. Anything else had to be
provided by the student himself, and paying additional fees more comfortable
conditions could be bought.

Marco, who
had applied for the free housing arrangement, actually should've been allocated
to one of the dormitories, sharing room with dozens of other students.

"May I know
why is that?"

"Because if
you lived with many others, conflicts will arise so we'll have you here staying
quietly. We hope to at least decrease the number of problems to a minimum."

"... I
understand."

Swallowing
his bitter feelings Marco accepted reasonably. He knew, after all, what the
instructor was talking about.

His eyes,
glass eyes. Rather that pity, it was more probable for scorn to be directed at
him. In a world were the threat of the Mirages existed, someone who could not
see was seen as useless baggage. Moreover, eyes were an important part of the
social order, especially the coloring of the iris. The rate of someone being
born with glass eyes was also extremely low, making these people akin to being
diseased, with their eerily whitish irises.

While he
felt lonely about it, Marco knew this arrangement was objectively the best.
Even more so in his [rare case].

"This is a pamphlet
for the housing rules of this section. Make sure to read them."

Putting one
of the folders on the coffee table, Instructor Hacha passed it to Marco.

Without any
hesitation into his movements the wolf leaned over and took the folder with a
paw. He proceeded to open it and check its contents, dragging a finger over the
paper, his eyelids closed all the time.

With
slightly narrowed and sharp eyes, Instructor Hacha didn't miss any movement.

The young
wolf closed the folder again after a brief moment, and put it over his legs. He
returned his attention to the tiger, his expression telling him to continue.

"Your student
ID and guidebook should have been sent to you with your uniform so make sure to
read that too. Any questions concerning the workings of the Academy would
better be asked to your Academic Monitor, while any other matters to a
Councilor. If you read the pamphlet I gave you, you shouldn't have any question
about the housing, but I will be making regular inspections. Understood?"

"Yes!"

Instructor
said so with a piercing glare, as if daring Marco to cause any problem, but of
course this was ineffective on the wolf. The young male nodded assertively,
showing an earnest attitude.

"The last
thing, we would like you to refrain from giving the representative speech this
year."

"The...
representative speech?"

Something
unknown to Marco was brought up. He couldn't help but cook his head,
transmitting his confusion.

Instructor
Hacha closely studied the wolf's face with his purple eyes. As he understood
that his confusion was real, he internally grumbled, and made note of search
and berate the one who forgot to give notification to this student about such
important matter.

"Each year
the freshman with the overall highest score in the entry test will give a short
speech during the Entrance Ceremony, before the Student Committee Chairman. He
will also be seated on stage during the ceremony. This year's freshmen
representative is you."

"Me?... I
got... the highest overall."

"Both on
the written part and the practical part you have the highest score, so rather
than overall you're the best freshman this year."

To Marco
who was muttering with obvious incredulity, Instructor Hacha offpawedly tossed
some words of praise. But soon he also poured some cold water on the wolf's
rising emotions, his duty as an instructor telling him so.

"But don't
get carried on this. Actually, this will make a bigger target out of you."

"Ah... yes,
sorry. I mean, thank you...... Excuse me... If it's possible, may I know what my
score was?"

Though the
tiger's words had an affect to some extent, Marco's spirit couldn't be
completely dampened and he ended asking such a question. He spoke hesitantly,
but his body completely gave away his big curiosity, his ears pointing to the
ceiling.

"Why does
that matter now? But aside from the written part, you performed [Remote
Weaving] during the practical part, didn't you?"

"Remote
weaving?... Yes, I guess so."

The tiger's
browns frowned at that response, and his tail flicked.

"You guess?
How did you learn to do that?"

"Because I
can't do [Visual Confirmation], it's easier this way."

It was the
only way, Instructor Hacha thought severely. It was a situation he could not
grasp entirely.

He had read
the wolf´s file. There, a brief
description of both [Echo] and [Grid] was written down. But as expected he
couldn't imagine how it was, with him being a Knight. He wasn't interested in
the workings of ether weaving either.

Well, he
was an instructor of the Knight Course so he thought he didn't have to concern
himself with this student's peculiarities beyond the housing matters.

"Well,
that's actually none of my concern. So, can you step down from giving the
representative's speech?"

"Yes. I
don't mind."

Marco's
tone was quite lively, and his tail moved softly from one side to the other,
making the instructor stare with assessing eyes. It seemed the wolf was still
delving in the topic of his score, and feeling quite happy about it.

In any
case, now that the matter of the speech was settled, and quite smoothly too, he
wouldn't have to have headache.

"Good. Then
I'll leave you to settle down. Your Academic Monitor should come to visit you
tomorrow to explain the details."

Instructor
Hacha rose from the couch and walked towards the door. Marco also rose to his
hindpaws and followed, intending to see off the instructor.

The tiger
twisted the knob and opened the door, but before he could step out Marco spoke
candidly.

"Thank you,
Hacha-sensei. I'll make sure to meet the Academy's expectations."

When Hacha
turned around, what he saw was a young student bowing deeply, his body almost
parallel to the floor. His ears were properly standing and his tail was in
proper position, showing that he internally calm.

It was a
sight that touched him a bit as an instructor. So he responded in kind, in his
own way.

"Then, I'll
take your word on that. In exchange you may come to me if you don't have anyone
else to rely on."

The young
wolf straightened, a smile spread on his face. A smile which was serene and joyful,
though with his unruly fur it also had a childish semblance.

Hacha
stared for a brief moment. His tail curled slightly for an instant, before
he turned around and left.
Ramblings: I actually have an important doubt. If I post the new parts here and the same user reads it again --thanks for reading by the way--, does it counts towards the views? I ask because this is not appealing."}
