**Chapter 2: Can I sleep here tonight?**

**Edited by: Spring87**

Jess's truck pulled in to my drive way about 45 minutes later, I unclipped my seatbelt as did Alex, as we stepped out on to the driveway.

while I stood by Jess's truck and said my goodbyes to her, promising to call or text her when I got up in the morning.

My parents place is the normal suburban place 3 bedrooms and 2 bath, a good size front and back yard. I let my cane fall and snap into place with the flick of my wrist and made my way to the front door before pulling out my keys from my front right pocket and using my left hand and a finger to find the keyhole and unlocked the door to the sound of my dog, Connor, who's a black Labrador give an alert bark as we entered the house.

I heard mom on the couch as the volume on the TV lowered

she noticed us at the door I was scared of that.

"Oh Roe sweetie, you finally brought home a boy, wonderful, let me go get your dad to grill him, I mean meet him." mom said in her not so sly way. "Franklin! Roe's home and there's a boy too!" mom called into the kitchen.

Soon dad's heavy foot steps echoed through the floorboards, as his heavy breathing signaled he was at the kitchen doorway, holding it for support as he seemed to be doing lately. I heard Connor's tiny cow bell jingle a few times as he nuzzled dad's legs.

"Franklin darling look, Roe's finally brought home a boy ." mom said to dad sounding every bit as happy as if I were my sister Carrie who brought home her boyfriend from college, who asked her to get married when they were finished with school.

"Well hello there son, what's your name?" dad asked Alex who was still hiding behind me like the scared puppy I've come to think of him as. "Its Alex, sir, Alex Sage."

"Oh Roe, the Sages, nice family they are, do business with them about every other day for something or another." dad replied, now grabbing Alex in a handshake.

The Sage family owned the biggest business in town, the breeding and training, of guide and service dogs for people with disabilities. Which is where I got Connor from. Speaking of Connor, his tail ,his dark lab tail of doom, was wagging against my leg, his cold nose nudging my left hand for attention, which he got in the form of petting those silky ears of his. I had to try and escape this before Alex got the 3rd degree from both mom and dad.

"So.... yeah with that out of the way...can Alex stay the night?" I asked, knowing they'd be fine with it.

Dad was the one to reply, "yeah sure." He replied without even a thought of saying no.

I Quickly gave mom and dad a hug and said good night to both of them as Alex followed me to my room in the back of the house, noticing Connor's tags following us also.

We reached my bedroom and opened the door, feeling Connor slide past me into the room, going to lay under my desk as I heard him sliding past my desk chair.

As one enters my bedroom, they would notice the normal stuff in the bedroom of a teenage boy: double size bed against one wall, an L corner desk in the other corner and large built in bookshelves full of stuff in braille and other blindness technology, like what was on one corner of my desk looking like an ancient handheld video game machine on a long neck, pointing down to last night's homework, words on the 4.5 inch display.

"What's the old video game thing on your desk there Roe?" Alex asked noticing the tech on my desk.

I kind of sighed at this, always questions of the tech a blind guy uses.

"That's an Intel reader, it takes pictures of printed text like mail and such and and reads it back to me. Oh and its sitting on the Portable Capture Station that helps capture stuff like a chapter of a book for instance" I explained, hopefully not losing Alex in my explanation.

"Ohhh...." he said, the sound of being lost echoing in his voice. "So....Roe...." "Are you seeing anyone?" suddenly came out of Alex's mouth.

I stood there kind of shocked at what he's just asked me, I mean yeah he sounded cute from's Jess's description, but I don't really know Alex besides that he's the smart guy in math class. so I gather my courage and answered Alex.

"Well, no I'm not... Are you asking me out Alex Sage?"

He moved closer to me, right up next to me and whispered into my ear.

"Yes, I am Roen Oliver."

Now if this were some cheesy fan fiction or manga, we would have just fucked or at least started making out... well we didn't, well not much. Can you blame a guy if someone asks you out? Its a free pass to at least making out.

Our making out was, oh god, it was just great since it was my first time and all making out with a guy, it went on for a bit until we both had to breathe, yes we did have to breathe. I pulled away from Alex feeling his eyes on me, a hand now resting on my left shoulder.

He gave a sigh, "Oh wow ... that was ... damn..." he says as he gave a sigh of enjoyment.

"I just looked towards him, wishing not for the first time that my eyes still worked.

"So... Roe, I heard you lost your sight in some kind of accident ." he said softly maybe hoping not to make me mad. Seeming as all the rumors that went around the school, from I use to sell drugs and was in a gang to that I was a pitman for the Japanese yakuza.

"Yeah it was just glaucoma, had it for years and it just took the vision I had, I use to be able to read large print books you know? There should still be some on the book shelves somewhere." I replied with a smile to Alex. I heard him move away from me, going to the bookshelves and pulling I guess one of the few large print books off the shelve and the turning of pages was heard.

Just then my alarm went off: " The time is 12:00AM" the clock said in a British accent. As a heavy knock hit my door, "Yeah?" I called out.

my door opened just a bit as dad told me it was time for bed.

"Yeah sure, night dad." I said, as dad closed the door, and I started stripping to my boxers and leaving my shirt for the day on. "You can borrow of my pj pants or whatever, not sure if they'll fit though."

"Oh yeah ... sleeping in my boxers is fine with me." Alex replied to me, as I heard him sit on my bed, I followed him, crawling over him as I got over on my side of the bed.

I heard him change positions as he laid down on the bed as we settled down for the night.
