#21 of My Poems

Things change so fast,
Reality alters at a changing pace,
Growing faster and faster,
Pain growing beyond the point of control,
etching itself in my muscles and bones,
It feels like lava flows through my body,
Burning everything to ash.

I look down and I remain whole,
Then it starts once more.
Burning ever hotter,
As if i am a phoenix that is cursed.
To remain in this pitiful body.

Even as i look down,
my aura changes in my sight,
purple fur sprouts around my body,
even as i feel the warmth of power.

The pain eases as i smell the forest,
pine and cedar, brush and dirt,
my right hand goes numb,
as i look at it, i see my hand,
bare and numb, all feeling lost to it,
I feel I've lost something precious,
yet i can't remember how it came to be gone.

I feel so old, so tired,
even as i breath in Mother Earth's scent,
Feel the welcoming presence that is always her,
even as i feel her pain, i can feel it's echo ache in my body,
Deep within myself, i feel it all.

Sometimes, i feel a Monster deep within,
Trapped and yearning for control,
Hunger and anger wrapped tightly in a coil.
