A family is made. Friends become closer, and moments in memory are held dear. Time marches on for both Dal and Rick.","content":"\\*\\*\n\nDalten Sr stared ahead of him. His wife, Vi, breathed hugely through her equine mouth and nostrils. Labor was well underway. In another room down the hall, his grandson had been born. Dalten Sr. had only eyes for Vi, and his new foal though. \"Push Mrs. Taylor!\" The fellow paint equine shouted at Dal's mare. Vi pushed. Suddenly there was a sigh, as the foal slipped out, one very large and gangly form.\n\nVi laughed triumphantly. No longer in her prime, she still smiled hugely at the male foal, er, colt who was presented to her. \"Crawford William Taylor.\" Dalten Sr. breathed. His new son....\n\n\\*\\*\n\nDal Jr. stared. Meghan was sleep. The colt held tightly to her was also asleep. Dal leaned over. \"He looks just like his dad!\" Rick whispered back \"And grandad!\"\n\nMeghan stirred. Tears filled her eyes. Dal grabbed her hand and gave her a quick squeeze. They had been best friends once, and even though romance didn't fill their hearts, friendship did. Dal cast his eyes aside, not wanting to much to pass between them.\n\n\"Dal....\" Meghan sighed. She held out the colt to him. Eagerly he leaned forward and clasped his nephew.\n\n\"Meet....meet your son.\"\n\nDal stared at Meghan, Rick did a double take.\n\n\"I can't raise him Dal. I'm alone. Maybe someday I could, but between me, mother, my sister, and the War, how are we going to do that? Would.....would you and Rick....?\"\n\nDal swallowed hard. He felt Rick's paw slide around his waist. \"We'd be honored. What's his name?\"\n\n\"Meghan shot the canine a gratified look. \"Kelten Franklin Taylor Jr.\" she whispered.\n\nDal shook his mane.\n\n\"No.\"\n\nMeghan barely could keep her eyes open.\n\n\"Kelten Franklin Taylor Wells.\"\n\nMeghan sighed. \"Sounds good....\"\n\n\\*\\*\n\nRick and Dal had gotten home to London in time to fall asleep. The dual births had taken a lot out of both of them. Dalten didn't even glance over at the video screen as he flopped on the couch in their London flat. Rick eyed the message button. It was a text, or letter message. He pulled it up.\n\nHis eyes filled with tears.\n\n\"Dal....it's Meghan....\"\n\n\\*\\*\n\nNo sooner than had they left, Meghan had gone into some type of shock, The doctors could not shake her out of it. Before they had even arrived at their flat, Meghan was gone. The only link to Ken and Meghan was Kelten Taylor Wells. Rick sobbed this time. His own heart breaking as he worried about the future.\n\nDal patted him on his spotted back. The poor dalmatian could not be consoled. Things were happening too fast for him. First he had been bonded to Dal, then the attacks, then the war, then Ken, now Meghan. He hadn't been really close to her, but her death brought reality home.\n\nA surge of love, and strength surged along his bond with Dal. He felt his tears drying as he seaked his mate. He gripped Dal's waist and cried himself to sleep.\n\n\\*\\*\n\nTwo weeks later, Dal and Rick arrived back at the hospital, ready to pick up their new colt. Rick kept having to shake his head at that. Life sure moved in funny ways. The posters asking for troops to line up had plastered the walls along the entrance to the hospital. War was still out in space, but riots were continuing in the major cities. Rick only hoped they would stay well away.\n\nDal Sr, and Vi had met them in the hospital as they picked up their own son. Dal cooed over his little brother Crawford William Taylor. Dalten Sr. was a mix of sorrow and pride. Then Rick and Dal walked up to claim Dal's nephew.\n\nThe paperwork was filled out quickly. Father was listed as Richard \"Rick\" Joseph Wells. The \"mother\" was listed as \"Dalten Samuel Taylor Jr.\" The feline nurse had only smirked, but filled the paperwork out as required. Meghan's mother and sister were only too happy to have something else to focus on, Dierna's own pregnancy loomed from another equine.\n\nDal sighed as he hefted the colt. \"Guess we'll need a nanny or something. There is no way we have enough time....\" Rick looked at the gangly thing in Dal's arms and sighed. His heart melted. The poor thing was only weeks old, but looked the spiting image of his dad, and grandad. His mane was already coming in. Instead of a gray like his father through, it was pure white, and his eyes were a startling blue like his mom's.\n\n\"No Dal.....\" Rick put his arm on Dal's muscular shoulder and sighed contentedly. \"We'll find time....we will..\"\n\n\\*\\*\n\nKen sat in his crib playing with some type of toy. Dal cocked his hoof and made the crib rock to the laughter of their son. \"Again!\" The colt enthused\n\n_Our son, not Ken's. It's been two years already!_\n\nDal sat at the bench on his piano. His mane hung down hugely now. His tail, well he'd finally had to cut it. He smiled over at Rick, the poor Dalmatian was in the throws of creation.\n\n\"Can you believe it's been two years?\"\n\nRick's eyes narrowed. \"Yes, two hours ago.\"\n\n\"What?\" Dal chucked, a wicker deep in his chest.\n\n\"Huh?\" Rick blinked his eyes and looked up. Their compositions forgotten. Rick had gotten into composition. He was taking classes in London on composition, his own masters degree about half finished. Dal still had his conducting duties across the world, but each time he would enter a place and conduct, riots would stop. Only Rick knew why. It was because of the mark. There was some gift Dal had that Dalten was afraid to talk of. Rick knew better than to pry, but he could feel the calming presence, even if he was thousands of miles away.\n\nDal chuckled at Rick and glanced down at their son. \"Ken! Who's you're favorite?\" Rick punched Dal, little Ken just giggled at his dads.\n\n\"Ow!\" Dal mocked. Both stood, and walked their colt between them. The poor thing was still unsteady on his hooves, but was growing like a weed. In a few years he'd be as tall as Mike, the bassoonist!\n\nThey closed the door to the bedroom their son had after singing him to sleep.\n\nThe two of them slipped into their own bedroom. The message screen beeped with a waiting message. Rick called it up. It was from Chas!\n\nThe feline face filled the screen. There seemed to be a little more grey in his fur these days. He was jovial enough. \"Was wondering what you two had in mind for the holidays. The cabin is open, and well, you three are welcome. In fact I insist. Here are the particulars...\" Chas listed off a private flight number from London, another name for a car, and another for a nanny. It appears they would be joining Chas and William for Christmas in Germany.\n\nAgain\n\n\\*\\*\n\nChas purred as the two entered, their dappled colt holding on to each of their hands. He grinned down at the little colt, and lent down. He snarled at the little thing baring his huge fangs.....\"And how is my nephew today hrmmmm?\"\n\nLittle Ken flung his arms around Chas's neck, much to the Tiger's surprise. \"Uncle Chas! Chas Chas Chas Chas!!!!\" The little thing squealed.\n\nChas huffed pulling the little colt free of his neck. He bristled at the young thing. \"Now what have I told you young man!?\"\n\nThe colt ducked his head. \"Uncle Chas is not a toy?\"\n\nChas hardened his features. \"And????\"\n\n\"BIG FLUFFY KITTY!\" Ken wrapped his arms around the tiger as both Dal and Rick laughed. Chas disentangled himself again as a laughing William led the young colt off.\n\n\"Damned kids. Hrmm!\u0026nbsp; I thought I told him, Chas is the best uncle!\"\n\nDal slapped the Tiger on the back. \"Thanks by the way, we needed this.\" Chas smiled hugely. \"No problem Dal, Rick, my pleasure.\"\n\n\\*\\*\n\nAll four of the adults sat down to a huge dinner. Meat, breads, greens, it was all there. Dal even found himself eying the steak. He knew he was getting a taste for it through Rick and the bond.\n\n\"Well now, that is one precocious colt you two are raising!\" Chas commented. \u0026nbsp;Dal nodded, his mouth full of bread.\n\n\"Yes we know...\" Rick smiled hugely. William sighed smiling.\n\nSnow was falling thickly outside the cabin as the four ate. Their conversation flowed.\n\n\"We hear the rebels are making attacks.\"\n\nDalten swallowed abruptly. \"I heard.\"\n\n\"Dalten, why don't you take a side?\" Chas smiled at him urbanely.\n\n\"I can't.\" Dal rubbed his equine nose.\n\n\"Why not?\"\n\n\"It's not right Chas. This whole thing is stupid. In a hundred years no one will care. It's been centuries since the American Civil War, and who cares? Same with the Battle of Hastings, the Hundred Years War, the Major East War, and nothing has really changed. Names disappear, in the end what is the point?\"\n\nChas calmly put down his cutlery. The tiger folded his paws and assumed a very serious expression.\n\n\"Do you have any idea of what has been going on?\"\n\nDal spluttered. \"What?\"\n\n\"You heard me.\" \u0026nbsp;Chas almost shouted.\n\n\"What do you mean?\" Dal shot back. William and Rick both looked very uncomfortable.\n\n\"While you sit, on your podium and conduct orchestras, concerts, and operas, about love, the openness of being, and the oneness of the chosen people, furs, humans, and hybrids are dying! They're fighting over an ideal that needs resolve!\"\n\nDal stood.\n\n\\*\\*\n\nRick could feel the rage down the link. This time rage surged along his own veins and he used it to soothe Dal. _Easy Dal! Listen for fuck's sake!_ He sent a second line to Chas.\n\nDal went wide eyes, glaring at Rick.\n\nChas stood and began pacing back and forth. \"You preach about acceptance, but take no side. One side of this war is all about the death and destruction of those they see as traitors of Blood!\" Chas spat on the floor.\u0026nbsp; \"The other is intent on making a point no matter what, but they have no leadership!\"\n\n\"My own mother and father disowned me because of William! Did you know that? Do you really know the PAIN others have been through? Do you realize what you could do for them!?\"\n\nDal stood shaking for a moment. Chas charged over and took Dal's hands in his.\n\n\"Dal, my friend, one of my BEST Friends, think! We can only love who we love, we cannot choose who they are. There are people out there who would rather wipe us from the face of the earth because we do not conform to their idea of blood purity. Cats and dogs et cetera.\" Again Chas seemed to hiss into the corner of the room.\n\nDal stood still.\n\nSuddenly his arms went around the feline in a fierce hug. Tears streaming from Dal's face.\n\n\"I had no idea....Chas....I'm so sorry.....\"\n\nChas stood motionless for a second, and then Rick saw something he'd never thought he'd see. The huge feline's lips quivered for a second Tears streamed down his face.....\"I know.....\" he whispered into Dal's thick neck. \"That's why I'm here.....\"\n\n\\*\\*\n\nChas had broken down. It was rare he let his emotions out, but tonight, something had driven him. It wasn't Dal and his stubborn nature. He'd felt something genuine. From Rick? It seemed the canine had driven him on. Chas didn't question it and embraced the courage the canine gave him. He told Dal exactly what he'd been thinking over the last several years. Finally Dal broke, and when he did, so did Chas. He gripped his friend, his fellow Soul Bonded and cried. It lasted an hour before the two parted to their rooms.\n\n\\*\\*\n\nDal glanced out the window of the cabin, feeling Rick's paws slide over him. \"Dal?\"\n\nHe turned his equine head to the side, gently tossing his mane at the same time.\n\n\"Yes?\"\n\n\"Have you decided?\"\n\nDal clutched the score to his chest as he stared out. It was more than time. The Requiem for his Brother, and all those lost in the Battle of Mars Station. Sure there had been other battles, but this one, this one was personal.\n\nDal nodded solemnly.\n\nRick nuzzled Dal's arm until Dal found his arm draped over the canine form next to him.\n\n\"Come here....\"\n\nRick reached out and drew Dal to him. The two found themselves on the bed. With little Ken around, neither found much time for stuff like this anymore. Rick buried his muzzle in Dal's thick neck, taking in the scents he took in so long ago, memorizing them again. Dal reached down and stroked Rick's neck. Rick opened the link to them both. They shivered at the shared experience.\n\nSoon they were tongue tied together, breathing heavily in and out of each others muzzles. Rick easily slipped his canine paws over the rapidly thickening equine sheath, taking the length up against his ass, feeling it rub against him lustily.\n\nIt had been so long, yet no time at all.\n\nRick panted as he slowly lowered himself down Dal's length, feeling Dal's equine member flare.\n\n\\*\\*\n\nDal gasped and opened the rapport between the two even wider. Soon he could not tell where he ended, and Rick began. The thrusting from his hips was as much a command from his own libido as it was from Rick. The two intertwined entirely. Dal leaned down and found his muzzle wrapped around the glistening canine member in front of him, roughly licking up every bit of pre Rick made.\n\nRick moaned deeply at the ministrations, driving himself as deep as he could against Dal. His canine tongue lolled out. Soon they found their rhythm and matched each other perfectly. Time and again they drew each other to climax, only to back off and start over....some time later Rick growled and bit down on Dal's muzzle.\n\nHe wanted his orgasm dammit!\n\nDal relented. His own hips pistoning up and down, trying to shove his thick length all the way into Rick. Rick moaned as he felt shot after shot shoot into him.\n\n\\*\\*\n\nThe two lay together. Rick had his muzzle on Dal's chest. Dal gently rubbed Rick's neck as usual.\n\n\"You are amazing.\"\n\n\"No you, are amazing. No wait...\" Rick smiled. He reached down beside the bed and pulled the small gift he had packed. He opened the small picture frame and showed it to Dal. Dal's ears teared up.\n\n\"WE are amazing\"\n\nThere in black and white was Dal Jr, Seated. Rick stood next to him, a wide canine grin on his face, and on Rick's lap sat Ken Taylor Wells, their colt son.\u0026nbsp; Dal barely remembered having the picture taken months ago.\n\nThe weekend had decided Dal on the direction he would go.\n\n\\*\\*\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Willing Student","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/855861-ch-22-movement-3-sforzando.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/856066-ch-24-movement-3-dulce.json"}}
