The engine's\nwarning beeping told me that one engine was down!\"Mayday!\" I cried\nbut the radio was not working anymore.I yanked at the\nsteering and tried to control the spaceship, but the deed was impossible! As I\nentered the Earth's atmosphere, everything turned red-hot. I knew that my small\nburning spaceship was going to crash somewhere out there and eventually I would\nbecome a roasted wolf! Something hit the engine - must be a small meteor - and\nmy spaceship lost control immediately. Even worse, the communicator was damaged\ntoo. I did not wish to come to the Earth, I was just passing by only.\nThe earthlings hated aliens and liked to autopsy them. If they found me\nand my spaceship...cold sweat ran from my forehead, I did not want them to open\nmy head and see my brains, or parted my stomach to see the organs.I checked the stealth\nmeter, damn, 0%! They could have detected my presence by now, I did not know\nwhere would I crash but somehow they knew, and they would surround me in no\ntime. And then they would bring me to the Area 51, the alien prison!\n\"C'mon!\" I yelled as I frantically pushed some buttons. None was working,\nI could not escape from my spaceship, my spaceship would explode with me\ntrapped inside!I could see the sea\nnow, luckily I was going to crash into the sea, because it would be difficult\nto find my corpse under the deep blue sea. I grabbed my chair firmly, preparing\nfor the coming impact, and death!My spaceship juddered\nto a halt, not really, just slowed down only. Sadly my spaceship did not\nexplode because I did not want them to find me. Now my spaceship was drowning.\nI saw nothing outside, the screen was smashed and the lights not working at\nall. I glanced at the panel to check for damage report, oh my God! All reds, my\nspaceship now became a pile of junk.Finally my spaceship\nstopped drowning, I reached the bottom of the sea but I did not know the depth.\n\"What now!\" I murmured when I saw water on the floor, my spaceship leaked!\nI stood up quickly and tried to do something. Unluckily I did not have enough\ntools to stop the leaking!\"This is just\ngreat!\" I must abandon my spaceship now. I took out a small laser gun from\nthe drawer. Since the door was jammed, I would blast my way out. I pointed my\nlaser gun at the door and released the trigger, nothing happen! I tried again\nbut in vain! The water was rising fast, now it reached my knees! I did not have\nenough time to repair my gun anymore. Soon I would be a dead wolf. I sat down\nagain, closed my eyes and relax. I could feel the water reached my chest.\nFinally the water covered my wolf head and I could not breathe anymore. I began\nto drink the water, soon my stomach was full and I could not drink anymore. Was\nI destined to die here? Before I fainted, I felt my spaceship was shaking. They\nwere going to find a drown wolf in this ship. I would not feel painful anymore\nno matter how they cut my body.******************I blinked and opened\nmy eyes slowly. Weird, I did not die. What was this place? Where was my\nspaceship? \"Good morning, how do you feel now?\" a girl's honey-sweet voice\ncame from behind me. I turned leisurely and there she was. Standing after me\nwas the most beautiful wolf I'd ever seen. I suddenly lost the ability to\nspeak. I just starred at her.At that moment,\nsomeone smiled and said, \"So, this is called love at first sight.\"A human entered the\nroom, immediately I answered his smile with a scowl. The man who entered was a\nsturdy, middle-sized fellow, some thirty years of age, clean-shaven, and\nsallow-skinned. \"Who the hell are you?\" I looked up at him anxiously.\"Calm down, he's not\ngoing to hurt you. Hi, I'm Nancy,\" the female wolf consoled me with soft\nwords. She looked at me with her big, childlike eyes.\"I'm Frank, what is\nthis place?\" the girl was so lovely that I could not take my eyes off her.\"Area 51,\" Nancy\nsaid soothingly.\"The\nalien tomb - \" I dared not complete the harrowing thought as I starred\nat her as if she were a phantom.I recoiled in horror.\n\"Miss Nancy, when are they going to autopsy me?\" I asked.\"Autopsy!\" the\nhuman cried, and then he choked and laughed again until he was obliged to lie\nback, limp and helpless, in the chair.Nancy looked at me in\namazement.\"Mr Frank, what're you\ntalking about?\" she asked at last.\"Are they going to...\nrip open my body and...study my organs? Or torture me forever?\" I answered\nfrankly, mopping my forehead.Nancy sat down beside me\non the chair and patted me kindly on the shoulder. \"Of course not! Why must\nthey do that? What makes you think so?\" she said reassuringly.\"From the TV, they\nsaid that Area 51 is the place to enslave aliens, the government tortured and\nthen kill the aliens eventually,\" I explained with my eyes opened wide.The human chuckled and\nwriggled in his chair, as was his habit when in high spirits. \"Frank, you're so\nfunny,\" he interrupted.Nancy suppressed a\ngiggle. \"Mr Frank, you've been cheated by the TV shows. Actually, Area 51 is\nour safe house. Many of us crash-landed on this planet, the government brought\nus to here and helped us to go home,\" she explained away my fears.I clapped my paws\nsoftly together and chuckled. \"So, I'm safe now? No one is going to eat\nme?\" I said after a long silence.Seeing my confused\nlook, Nancy took my paws and began to explain. \"No one is going to eat you, or\nany aliens here.\"The human sat up in\nhis chair in considerable excitement. \"Nancy, I think this is his first time\nvisiting other planets, and no one told him about Area 51. Frank, where did you\ncome from and why did you come here?\" he asked excitedly.\"Planet Peace, a small\nplanet near Mars. I live in Bayport, a small but thriving city of ten thousand\ninhabitants, located on Barmet Bay, three miles inland from the Central Ocean.\nI was passing by this planet when a meteor hit my spaceship,\" I answered,\nreturning to my natural manner.\"Poor wolf,\" he\nsaid, commiseratingly, after he had listened to my misfortunes. \"Don't worry,\nwe'll help you to go home. Nancy, bring him to my office after twelve o'clock.\nI got works to do now.\"\"Yes, sir.\"After the human left\nthe room, Nancy turned to me. \"I'm one of the nurses here, since you're a wolf,\nthe Commander chose me to help you. Well, same species are easier to get\ntogether, don't you think so, Mr Frank?\" she smiled affectionately at me.\"I agree,\" I\nobserved with a smile. \"So, what happened to my spaceship now?\"Nancy let out a small\nlaugh. \"When we found your spaceship, you're trapped inside and your belly\nbulged until it was going to explode. It was a miracle that you woke up so\nfast. Come, this way.\" I looked thoroughly surprised at her narrative.I followed Nancy into\na room where I saw more humans and anthros. \"Mr Frank, don't make any troubles\nhere, or else you'll be in big troubles,\" Nancy said gently.******************Soon I saw the sky\nagain. It had cleared in the morning, and the sun was shining with a subdued\nbrightness through the dim veil which hangs over the great city. Suddenly I was\nso hungry that my stomach's rumbling. She stared at me in astonishment.\"I suggest we eat\nbreakfast first,\" Nancy said and I agreed.Nancy led me to a\nhawker centre. At first glance, these stalls resemble walk-in closets,\ncluttered with cooking equipment and ingredients. \"Don't let their size fool\nyou - these cramped little kitchens punch far above their weight,\" she\nexplained.For five minutes or so\nI was oblivious of my surroundings. All I did was to eat and eat until nothing\nwas left on the plates. When all the food was finished we ordered glasses of\nsweet sugar cane juice to drink. I finished off two glasses. How wonderful it\nwas to have such food and drink.\"Miss\nNancy...burp...sorry, I'll pay you back...burp...sorry again...after I created an account\nhere *cough* *cough*.\"Before Nancy spoke\nagain, she finished the delicious apple pudding on her plate. \"He! he! You are\na funny one,\" she chuckled. \"It's ok, you don't need to pay me back, I'm\nglad that you're already fully recovered.\"When we stood up, a\nwaiter came to clean the table.\"How's this place?\nDoes Chinese food agree with you?\" Nancy asked with a grin.\"This dish is to my\ntaste,\" I said, nodding approvingly; \"I can't believe this is Area\n51.\"Five minutes later we\nwere in the street, walking towards the landing field. \"We've the best\nengineers here, you can take this opportunity to upgrade your ship,\" Nancy\nremarked.I considered for a\nmoment. \"Sure, I'll check with them later,\" I answered.We had reached the\nlanding field as we talked. I saw my own spaceship, as well as other\nspaceships. Some anthros were running around and busy repairing my spaceship. A\nskunk approached us, \"Hi, I'm Thanara. Your ship is seriously damaged and we\nneed roughly one month to fix it. We are trying to repair a breakdown in the\nrefrigeration system now.\"I smiled and rubbed my\npaws, \"I'm Frank. What hit my ship?\"Thanara looked round\nme with curiosity. \"A debris, space junk, you're not the only one hit by it. It\ndestroyed your main engine and short circuited the computer systems,\" he\nanswered, thoughtfully.I pricked up my ears.\n\"Can you please upgrade my ship?\" I said hopefully.\"Sure, I suggest you\ninstall Gideon - an AI - to secure your safety and talk with you whenever\nyou're bored,\" Thanara advised.I gave a gesture of\nrelief, \"So, how can I help you to speed up your work?\"The skunk shrugged his\nshoulders. \"Nothing, luckily the blueprint of the ship is still readable. At\nthe meantime, why not spend your time with this lovely girl, as there is\nnothing you can do here.\"Nancy looked perplexed\nfor a moment. I gave a whimsical smile. \"Thank you, have a nice day,\" I\nsaid.******************After we left the\nflying field, Nancy spoke up, \"This is a small place for us to take a break,\nnot to stay. That's why we're getting low salary, they don't encourage us to\nwork for long term here.\"I asked curiously.\n\"How long have you been working here?\" I looked at Nancy admiringly.\"One year. I liked\nthis place because I can meet different kind of species every week here.\"\nNancy chuckled good-naturedly. \"You see those walls? Don't climb out, for that\nis human's territory and you need a special permission to visit the humans. If\nyou did climb out without permission, you'll end up in the circus for the rest\nof your life, and we won't help you,\" she cautioned.\"I won't,\" I\npromised fervently. \"So this is our world, sponsored by the Government? Why are\nthey helping us? Can we trust them?\" I asked in undisguised wonder.Nancy's eyes sparkled.\n\"Yes, some of the humans are afraid of us, but some are willing to work with\nus. Earth is resourceful planet and many aliens came here to extract materials.\nSo the Government built this place far away from the human's territory so that\nwe don't scare them. In short, the Government tried to make friend with us so\nthat we won't disturb them.\"I thought a moment,\nthen said, \"I see. When bad alien attacks them, they'll ask us to help\nthem?\"Nancy glanced at her\nwrist watch and saw that it was after twelve o'clock. \"Yes, that's their main\npurpose - fight fire with fire. Now let's go visit Mr Jerry, our Department\nHead.\"As we made our way to\nthe Aeon Building after leaving the landing field, Nancy gave me a few more\nparticulars about the Department Head whom would be my boss.Nancy showed me a\nsmall building, \"Welcome to the Aeon Building. The Human Resource Department is\nlocated at ground floor,\" she said with a smile. I was surprised again to\nsee aliens and humans working together. Some humans greeted us with a wave and\na broad smile. We also greeted them warm-heartedly.\"Mr Frank, we treat\neach other with respect and dignity,\" Nancy replied. Then she continued,\n\"This way.\"Finally we stopped in\nfront of a door and Nancy knocked the door gently. The door opened and I saw\nthe same human sitting in front of a desk, two cats stood behind us and one of\nthem closed the door.He pointed at the\nchairs in front of his desk and said, \"Hello, I'm Jerry. Please have a\nsit.\"After we sat down,\nboth cats sat behind us. They were about four feet tall only. She donned a\nsingle-shoulder short top that left her midriff bare and a skirt made of\ndifferent hanging pieces. His outfit was asymmetrical, having only one glove on\nhis left hand.Jerry smiled broadly.\n\"They're my bodyguards. Don't slight them, they called themselves The Lightning\nCats,\" he said. \"I know you won't eat me but just in case. Anyway, I'm\nglad that you look very alright now.\"\"Thank you for saving\nme, Mr Jerry,\" I began.\"You spaceship is\nbadly damaged, of course you must pay for the repairing fees. When are you\ngoing to pay for the bill? You can pay half of the amounts now,\" Jerry\nasked at the writing table, he was typing something on his notebook.I listened as Jerry\nfurther explained, \"Your ship will be re-modeled in order to install Gideon and\nnew cooling systems. They're working 24/7 so that you can go home ASAP.\"I was immediately\ninterested. \"I'll pay full amount now, Mr Jerry. Thanks for the efforts,\"\nI said.Jerry leaned forward\nexpectantly in his chair. \"Cool, give me your bank name and account number.\nBingo! Luckily still can locate your bank. Ok, now scan your paw here and enter\nyour password, this is the amount you're going to pay - after installing\nGideon.\"I checked the amount,\nluckily not so scary. I scanned my paw, entered the correct password the\ntransaction was completed in less than five minutes. \"So, Mr Frank,\nwhat're you going to do now?\" Jerry offered. \"I can give you a short-term\njob to cover the bills. Or you want to eat and sleep for the rest of the\nmonth?\"My face brightened. \"I\nneed a job,\" I said. \"Any kind of jobs will do.\"\"Nancy, bring him to\nsee the Head of Librarian,\" Jerry said sternly. \"Remember, don't break the\nrules. Any questions?\"I shook my head,\nprofusely thanked them again for rescuing me and we left the office.\"Mr Frank, there's a\nvery simple job for you, the Librarian. What say you?\" Nancy asked with interest.                 \n\"Why not?\" I replied with a broad grin. \"I like reading.\" Then,\nbecoming serious, I added, \"I won't break any rules here, don't worry.\"                 \n\"The food here is cheap but the accommodation is expensive and we're not\nallowed to build our own houses. So, you either sleep inside your own ship, or\nshare room, or sleep near the forest. Since your ship is still under repair, I\ndon't think you can sleep inside for now,\" Nancy remarked.         \n          This was bad, I was going to spend my nights near the forest for a month?                    \n\"Some aliens are more open minded than human, they don't mind sharing rooms\nwith opposite gender. Do you want to stay at my place and pay half of the\nprice?\" Nancy went on.         \n\"Yes but...\" I said, shocked. Nancy was so open-minded.         \nNancy's eyes began to sparkle and color came into her cheeks. \"It's lonely to\nstay alone, we can share information if you like to,\" she said. Then she\nchuckled. \"Luckily we don't need to wear clothes, this alone saved us a lot of\nmoney.\"         \nI looked thoughtfully at Nancy. \"I agree, and I accept your kind\ninvitation.\" I declared in genuine surprise.         \nAfter I successfully applied for the position of Librarian, Nancy led me to the\nAeon Square. \"Remember this place? The delicious hawker centre?\"         \n\"Yes, I can smell Satay.\"         \n\"There're only two places to fill your stomach here. One is that hawker centre,\nfrom seven morning to seven evening. The other is over there, from seven\nevening to seven morning. Some anthros and humans tend to love night\nlife.\"         \nI had an instant answer. \"Owls and bats.\"         \nNancy gave a mischievous smile. \"As I said earlier, this is a small place. So,\nI don't think you need a map or a transport. See that motel? Come, this is the\nonly place to spend a night.\"         \nWhen Nancy approached the information counter, the girl stood up slowly from\nthe chair and smiled at us. She looked young and pretty. The elegant gown was\nbased on a dragonfly and was done primarily in dark colors. It has a layered\nskirt with an A-line waist and round sleeves.         \n\"Room 88, please. He's going to share room with me.\"         \nThe lovely girl took out a device and placed in front of me, \"Sir, please scan\nyour paws here.\" She began busy operating the computer, \"Thank you, have a\nnice day,\" she said with a twinkle in her eye.         \nWe barely reached the lift when the receptionist suddenly said, \"Mr and Mrs\nFrank, have a nice day!\"         \nWe reddened in embarrassment. \"We...not married...yet...good day to you too,\"\nNancy replied.         \nAfter we left the counter, I wondered why Nancy did not take any keys. She was\nfully aware of my thoughts. \"We don't need any keys to open doors and\nlift,\" she chuckled and said.         \nWhen we stood in front of the lift, Nancy added, \"You need to scan your paw\nhere after 10p.m.\"         \nA couple walked out from the lift, \"Hey Nancy, new boyfriend?\"         \n\"He is Frank, a normal friend. Mr and Mrs Reset,\" Nancy said, introducing\nus.         \n\"Frank, nice to meet you. When did you arrive? What are you up to now?\"\nthe man asked in undisguised wonder. He was tall and broad-shouldered, with a\nmop of dark hair and heavy, solemn brows that were offset by a boyish grin.\"How are you?\" I\nsaid cordially. I gave him a short sketch of my adventures.\"I'm terribly\nsorry,\" he remarked sympathetically. \"Luckily you met her.\"\"Can I touch you and\ntake a photo with you?\" the woman interrupted suddenly, smiling at my\nexpression of surprise. \"This is my hobby, you can reject if you feel\noffended.\" A pink silky ribbon embedded within the mop of golden curls\ncovering her head, acting as a natural wig given to her by the almighty\ncreator.\"Not at all,\" I\nanswered, earnestly. I did not have the heart to reject the woman.Ten minutes later.\"Thank you, Mr\nWolf,\" she said and the conversation drifted away into other channels.After they left the\nmotel, I turned to Nancy, \"Did she do that to you too?\"\"Yes, can't blame them\nbecause they seldom see an anthro,\" Nancy remarked, chuckling at my\nsurprise.         \nA few minutes later, we were standing in front of Nancy's room. \"Frank, scan\nyour paw here to unlock the door.\"         \nI scanned and there was CLICK sound, Nancy pushed the door wide and closed it\nafter we entered the room. \"This is the living room, she said.\" The living\nroom contained a three-seater sofa, two armchairs with LED TV on the wall and\nsome comic books on the dining table. \"In my opinion, home without a living\nroom like the body without the spirit. The bathroom is over there, separated\nfrom the toilets,\" she said.         \n\"This is my bedroom,\" Nancy opened a door gently. It was small but\nbeautiful. The walls were purple, except the pink ceiling. Her bed was in the\nmiddle of the room, surrounded by two drawers and small bookshelf. There was a\nstudy table with a PC on it near the windows.         \n\"This is your room, you can switch on the air-cond if you feel hot,\" Nancy\nopened another door gently. My room was painted with white, it made me feel\ncomfortable and relaxed. The queen-size bed was covered with red sheets. An\nempty bookshelf was located beside the study table near the windows.         \n\"This is a very lovely room.\"         \nNancy grinned widely. \"We're not allowed to cook here, I'll take a shower\nfirst, you can have a look around.\"         \nAfter we took turn to shower, we walked out from the motel, \"You can buy almost\nanything from this 7-11. If not, there's a small shopping mall inside the Aeon\nBuilding,\" Nancy started to say.         \n\"Oh I see.\"         \n\"Frank, want to see the lake? It's still early.\"         \n\"Sure,\" I asked eagerly. \"Where is it?\"We sauntered through a\nnatural avenue of trees, it was shady, dark and cool almost cold. As we came to\nthe end of the trees it opened up into a lake. The air was warmer, the sounds\nof insects were almost too loud. The lake seemed like a black void, the sun\nbouncing off its surface.\"Visit on a hot\nweekend; fishing, boating, and swimming are just a few of the activities you\nare likely to see. However, not so many visitors during weekdays,\" Nancy\ncommented.\"I'll surely pay a\nvisit to this place someday during weekends.\"\"We found you just\noutside this lake. If you didn't fall into the sea out there, you're already\ndead by now.\"\"I concur,\" I\nsaid sincerely.We did not stop for\nlong, soon we're heading to the other hawker centre. \"See that hospital? I'm\nworking at there now,\" Nancy said.\"I see, really nice\nplace.\"\"Let's fill our\nstomach now.\"It was about seven\nthirty and the tables around the stalls were nearly filled with people. Young\nand old, anthros and humans, fat and thin of all shapes and sizes came here to\nenjoy in the many varieties of food available. I saw the mee seller feverishly\nat work trying to cope with the orders for his mee. Some of his customers were\nalready eating. Chopsticks and spoons dug into the bowls of mee. Other\ncustomers waited patiently for their food.Every table has a\ntable number indicated on it. \"Some stalls owners will ask you for your table\nnumber when you order. They'll prepare the food and deliver it to where you sit\nand you pay them when they send the food to your table,\" Nancy explained,\nsmiling.After Nancy ordered\nher food, I approached the mee seller to order a bowl of mee. He asked me to\nscan my paw first, I scanned and informed him the table number. Soon he printed\na receipt for me to keep.Ten minutes later, the\nmee arrived. Luckily he provided me both chopsticks and fork. I began to eat\nwith the fork only. \"Frank, you don't know how to use chopsticks?\" Nancy\nasked in surprise and I shook my head.Nancy's face lighted\nup as she said, \"Then it's time for you to start learning, I'm willing to teach\nyou.\"\"How about now?\"\nMy eyes sparkled in anticipation.After we finished our\ndinner, we went to the 7-11 to buy some man's stuffs, and then we returned to\nthe motel.\"Phew! I'm full\nnow,\" Nancy said.I nodded, \"Me\ntoo.\"After I entered the\nroom, I gazed at Nancy affectionately and several thoughts raced through my\nmind.\"What's wrong? Did you\nforget to buy something?\" Nancy asked me worriedly.I lowered my voice.\n\"Nancy, can we increase our friendship?\"\"I know what you mean,\nbut we better clean our muzzles first,\" Nancy said enthusiastically.I grinned. \"Sure, you\nwash first,\" I said. \"I'll go and buy condom now.\"\"You don't need that,\nI don't mind,\" Nancy suppressed a giggle.******************         \nThree months later, I walked to the landing field again with Nancy.         \n\"Good morning, Mr Frank, your ship is fully repaired and upgraded!\"\nThanara declared gaily.         \nThe outlook of my ship was a bit different but I did not care. \"Finally!\"\nI said, rubbing my paws.         \n\"Come, Mr Frank, meet your new partner - Mr Gideon,\" Thanara said as we\nentered into the ship.         \n\"Good morning, Frank.\"         \nI did not see my new partner. I felt like I was talking to an invisible man.         \n\"Good morning, Gideon.\"         \n\"Frank, I can see you and communicate with you through the small cameras.\"         \n\"Thank you Gideon.\"         \n\"Mr Frank, I propose you fly back to your planet one time so that Gideon can\nrecord down the route. After that, you can switch to auto pilot whenever you go\nhome. If you want, you can also download the route into your friend's\ncomputer,\" Thanara said earnestly.        \n\"This is breathtaking!\" I cried excitedly. \"I'm going to try it now. Apart\nfrom Gideon, anything new?\"         \n\"You can now fly at Mark Five, however your ship is not built to fly above Mark\nFive,\" Thanara replied. \"Gideon will tell you about your new engine on the\nway home, good luck with your new toy.\"\"Honey,\ndo you want to come with me?\" I said, kindly, putting my paw upon Nancy's\nshoulder. \"This will be a fun ride.\"         \n\"Sure, hubby,\" Nancy responded. Her eyes twinkled. \"I can't wait to visit\nyour planet.\"         \n\"Ok, I'll go to the control room now,\" Thanara spoke up excitedly.         \nAfter Thanara left the ship, I locked the door. \"How beautiful!\" Nancy\nexclaimed softly.         \nI examined the new devices and raised my eyebrows. \"Can't believe he built a\ntoilet for me,\" I said with a grin. There was a small room with 'Toilet'\nwritten on the door.         \nSoon we reached the bridge.         \n\"Wow! Just wow!\" We exclaimed as we sank into comfortable seats.         \nI checked the brand new panel. \"Mr Frank, can you hear me?\" Thanara asked\nfrom the control room.         \n\"Loud and clear, thanks for the toilet,\" I remarked.         \n\"See the timer? You can take off in five minutes. Glad that you like it, I\ndidn't modify the control panel, still same old interface,\" Thanara said\nkeenly.         \n\"Cool, you're a genius,\" I praised Thanara.         \nShortly, my ship was already above the planet Earth. Nancy's cheeks were\nflushed and her eyes danced with excitement.         \n\"Frank, do you want to enable the lock feature?
