#2 of War Poems

A lucky soldier returns from the hell that is war back to one true things he knows~

 ~~Wayne Magill~~

I'm coming home today
Home to my sweetheart,
And now I'm here to stay
So we'll never have to part.

It'll be so good to see her face
After so much blood and death,
I'm so glad to be from that place
Back to my home on the heath.

You should've seen the smile she wore
So big and bright and beautiful,
As she opened up the door
And asked if to stay forever I was truthful.

I threw my arms around her
And her the same in return,
I told her I was sure
That she no longer had to yearn.

She pressed her lips to mine
Our first kiss in 5 long years,
And the feeling was so fine
We both had ourselves in tears.

Into the home she lead
And asked again if I was true,
In response I only said
"I love you."
