# In The Flesh Of Man

Does a man dream of a dog, or is the man dreamt by the dog?

An illumination of soft blue
A haze of cooling color

Shimmers with a gentle hue

And binds with power of iron collar

Vibration overtaking in piercing hum

Every fiber of my waking flesh

Head, torso, limbs go numb

Mind falls blank with final thresh

The sweet whiff of stirring scent

Rouses my dreamy sleep

Inspiring hunger as intent

Senses itching for the creep

Paws lift into creamy dirt

Tail sways in breezy gusts

Ears perk, sharp, alert

Joints groan, eyes adjust

Day has begun

With sun golden bright

Being spent in constant run

Hunting, chasing, for my delight

Serrated teeth snap

Jaws bite down in force

Closing around like a metal trap

Meal is fit for the main course

Flowers pass, as I race by

They dance and jiggle in merry dance

And I frolic through against purple sky

Howling songs of pure romance

Then at last when day is done

My head lies down, calm and weary

Reminisces on times of fun

Places and faces, warm and cheery

So with a grumble

I sit up awake

Fantasies they crumble

Hopes they ache

Though still one nagging thing

I'm left to wonder

Am I tired man dreaming dogs in spring

Or resting dog nightmaring man blunder
