Second draft, but it doesn't feel quite ready yet.","content":"I imagine you breathe with a knife in your chest,\n\na sharp pain to put it kindly.\n\nCobblestone rests below your feet,\n\nwhile you sit on the sidewalk's edge, cold.\n\n  \n\nWith white knuckles you hold your glass.\n\nYou dared ask if I was sure.\n\n  \n\nThere's a time\n\nwhen siblings are like stars.\n\nNever do you think of\n\ndarkness between those bodies.\n\n  \n\nand here I am\n\nfourth of a kind\n\n  \n\nI watch you take a breath\n\nignoring the knife.\n\nYour white sweater, \u0026nbsp;tailored,\n\nsoft as the down of a fledgling bird,\n\nmoves with your thoughtless breathing.\n\n  \n\nYou look like a damned swan,\n\nno stains to show,\n\nonly a blank white.\n\n  \n\nWe hear a yowl.\n\nA battered hound limps down the block,\n\ncrimson streaks slither down its leg.\n\n  \n\nIt does not understand\n\n  \n\nMy cheeks are wet,\n\nbut there has been no rain."}
