Big help right? So I made a joke about it, coming up with a working title for this stupid multi genre story. How I Survived One Fateful Night in the Space Mansion of Absolute Terror. It was stupid, really, really stupid. It was like those cheesy B movies they made back in the day. Then it hit me, why not try and write that cheesy B movie from back in the day? At worst I don't complete a novel in time, at best I come up with something good, right? Well here is the Prologue for this ridiculous story. Coming in at a word count of 559 words.--- I stared out into the infinite\nblackness of space. Stars twinkling as far as the eye could see. It\nwould have been pretty, had I been a chick and had this been my first\ntime in space. But I wasn't, and this wasn't my first trip.\n\n I flopped back onto my small cabin\nbed. Barely enough room for my body. At least it was comfortable. No\none mentioned how time has no meaning up here. Without computer\ndisplays I wouldn't even know what day it was.\n\n My long feline tail flicked across the\nbed. I was on a transport vessel, the FSS Suloko. We were\ntransporting supplies to a deep space research station. The trip was\ncomplete and we were making our way back home. With one month down\nand five left to go.\n\n\n A loud beep came from the door. I\nrolled my eyes, \"Come in.\"\n\n I watched as the mongoose entered my\nsmall room, the metal door sliding shut behind her. \"Hiding in your\nroom won't help.\" She said\n\n \"Look Anne, you pass the time your\nway and I'll pass it mine.\" I said with more than a hint of\nannoyance in my voice. She expressed concern for my psychological\nwell being more often than she should. I'm a jaguar, being solitary\nisn't exactly something new for me.\n\n \"I know Walter, but still. It's a\nlong trip and you barely left the ship while we were at Hitachi\nStation. Would have done you some good to get out a little more.\"\n\n \"I'll survive, I made it all the way\nout here didn't I?\" I asked her.\n\n \"Yeah, but it isn't healthy. You\ncould volunteer for some time on the bridge.\"\n \n \"Not my thing,\" I said softly\nleaning my head back.\n\n \"You'd rather sit in here?\"\n\n \"Of course,\" I said before closing\nmy yellow eyes.\n\n \"I heard you signed up for a five\nyear trek.\" She said.\n\n \"Yeah, two out with one at Zulu\nStation and the trip back.\" I said.\n\n \"Full year on site, how many are\ngoing?\"\n\n \"Twelve of us, with twenty on the\nstation. They need someone to set up their data net system. The one\nthey had went down on them. Probably just a faulty relay circuit.\"\n\n \"Sounds like easy work for how long\nyou will be there.\"\n \"The rest of the crew will be busy\nwith other things. Wont kill me to hang out for a bit while they do\ntheir thing.\"\n\n \"Maybe you'll make a friend?\" Anne\nasked more than said.\n\n \"Doubt it, not into friends. I'd\nrather just do my thing. Though that far out the net will be slow as\nballs.\"\n\n \"That makes a difference?\"\n\n \"Of course, you think I just stare\nout the window while I'm in here?\"\n\n \"I don't know what you do. You wont\nsay, I'm a counselor you know.\"\n\n \"I'm fine, you can leave now.\" I\nsaid opening my eyes slightly.\n\n \"I'll be back later,\" She said\nbefore exiting my room.\n\n\n Once she was gone I closed my eyes\nagain. If computer drives weren't so expensive I'd just travel alone.\nBut since they cost more than I make a year and I'm not a pilot, I\nwas stuck flying with others. Maybe I'd cash out after my next trip.\nGo live in peace on one of the jungle worlds.\n\n\n I yawned and slowly drifted to sleep.\n---There it is, if you want to see more let me know. If it sucks, let me know and I'll scrap the idea."}
