This isn't my real story, but I wanted to get something out there as soon as possible.
Creamy puffs of white cloud drifted lazily overhead as Jeremy lay on his back on the grassy green hill, looking up at the sky.

He imagined what it would be like up there, in the bright world between sun and sky. What adventures awaited those who dared to make the voyage?

As he watched, the malleable white forms crashed into one another, merging into dark towers and fleeting figures. Harsh daylight struck the edges of the floating white structures, lighting up their edges with a silvery luminescent aura. The scene was picturesque, stunning, beautiful... brief. Even as the thought crossed his mind to snap a picture from his phone, a strong wind picked up from the east and scattered the forms, which slowly dissipated into the vast expanse of bright blue sky.

So similar, he thought, to the pattern of life. Every person that had ever been important to Jeremy had been like clouds. For a moment they were there, real, close, shaping his world into something beautiful. All of them promised to always be around; however, despite their words, the winds of fate inevitably came to take each of them away.

Jeremy was ever alone and adrift, lying on a grassy green hill watching his life go by.

"}
