Why, isn't it grand?  \n I have found where Sky is born!\"  \ncried the Fox to the whispering Sea.  \n  \nThe Sea, hissing back, chided and laughed,  \n \"What a fool is the Fox on the sand!\"  \nthen soaked with a spray and a cold fuming draught  \n the Fox who shook on the land.  \n\"Why,\" yelped the Fox, \"would you do that to me?\"  \n  \nThe Sea merely sneered, called him a name,  \n and dared him to dance on a wave.  \n\"I trust you not, your come and go, nor your game,\"  \n said Fox, \"nor scent like a grave,  \nbut what choice have I?\" and in splashed he.  \n  \nFox paddled and swam and the Sea rushed out  \n and carried the Fox far away.  \nIt dropped him near death with a thundering shout,  \n dripping beside a blue bay,  \nwhere the Fox sopped himself from the Sea.  \n  \nThe Fox merely sighed and looked far away  \n and his tail 'round himself he curled.  \n\"I, once again, at the end of the day  \n am just a fox at the edge of the world,\"  \nyawned the Fox to the whispering Sea.  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Poems","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/941032-the-raccoon-in-the-moon.json"}}
