Too much doom
Too Much gloom
Too much death
Too much wastage of breath

Search your souls for what is right
Search your hearts with all your might.
Are you the one still fighting the good fight?
Where is the new dawn's light?

Alone I sit and pray
I hope against all hope for a brighter day
Tears that fall in the earth do they lay
Oh what to do? Oh what to say?

Sadness overwhelms one's heart
Never to find that brand new start
Surrender to the consumption art
Stomach bloated they laze and fart

Look around and turn a blind eye
Pretending there's a clean blue sky
All the while standing by
All the while wondering why.
Cross thy heart and hoping to die

Butter scraped over too much bread
Looking down and burying your head
All speechless because nothing can be said
Watching the future with fear and dread

Buildings once standing tall
To rubble, ashes, and nothing at all
One by one the mighty all fall
Upon deaf ears is the whaling call

Save me, love me, do as I say
All the badness melts away
Merriment and mirth come and play
Hope for that pain to fade away

Angels fly and daemons march
All pass through deaths arch
Uniform the step stiff and starch
Drought the land and thirsts for blood have no parch

Is it the end? Is it the beginning?
Is it salvation, rebirth, or sinning?
Cosmic games into the extra inning
Is there any true way of winning?

Point thy fingers and pass the blame
All call out His holiest name
Everything as it was but nothing the same
Stand thy ground and announce your claim

Under sheep wool lays duress
On pins and needles does the world stress
Someone anyone save us from this mess
God have mercy on us and heaven bless

Wounds so deep they never heal
Confusion, love, hate, emotions thinly concealed
Weapons and words sharply wield
Pain so rich you just cease to feel
The lives you live all seem so surreal

Ashes, gashes, iron rust
Know not whom one can trust
Love, compassion, sex and lust
Any salve for painful decay is a must

Belle And The Beaus (a poem for the modern age)

By: Nicholas Donald Whitefang

Belle in the park phone in her hand

Hair glistening in the sun mind across the land

Texting chimes from the variety of the merry band

Tips her shades and looks at the words then stands

Walking by, the beaus one by one bling

Beaus on the street cat call and sing

Keeping pace in both places ignoring

Rolls her eyes, lets a sigh and a warning

This beau does offer me cake

This beau offers me canoe trip on the lake

This beau offers me wine and roses; oh heaven's sake!

This beau disgusts me and doesn't think beyond his snake.

One by one they offer all at the touch of a button

One by one they fail looking like a glutton

One by one by bedside her blouse unbutton

One by one her dreams begin to cease "alla sudden"

Belle by dawn does wake arms full of pillow

Belle by the window weeps like the nearby willow

Belle by the sink washes face and fake smile follow

Belle in concealed self pity does wallow

Beaus work by day seem all right

Beaus by the night give Belle a fright

Beaus play games on her screen light

Beaus say things that she hope be right

Belle wanders round alone

Belle throws away her phone

Belle sighs, cries, then just utters a groan

Belle wonders if her Beau is truly anywhere unknown
