Gale helps his new companion with her wounds.
(Sorry for the long wait)

I held the chain gently in my hand, being sure not to look suspicious to any passerby.

The wolf matched my pace and held her head low, in a depressed manner with her ears down and her hands clasped together in front of her midsection.

When we reached an open room, she allowed me to go first and then stepped in behind me, a slight look of fear in her eyes.

I closed the door and asked her to take a seat on the bed in the corner before grabbing myself a chair.

We sat in awkward silence for a while, her nervous eyes darting back and forth, afraid.

I examined her carefully, seeing her grey and white coat in the light of the firefly lamps overhead.

she had mismatched eyes, with one being a deep, piercing blue and the other being strong, bright emerald.

"Miss?" I asked, looking her in the eyes.

She jumped at the sudden sound of my voice, but answered with a nod.

"Would you mind if I checked you for wounds?"

Slowly getting up, she turned and pointed to her back.

I could see why she was scared.

Her back was covered in dirty, open wounds and spots of dried blood, no doubt inflicted by previous owners.

"Anything else?" I questioned, taking off my gauntlet and setting my pack down on the floor.

She turned back around and presented her wrists and ankles, each had skin stripped from the spots where the chains had held her to the walls and gestured to the collar.

I went behind her and opened the collar's lock, since it's enchantment ment only humans could open it.

While stuffing the collar and chain into my pack, I pulled out a glass jar of oru gel, a medicine I concocted myself, made from a mix of oram reed paste, powdered salt, lavender oil and bit of alcohol.

The pale purple gel was an all-purpose medicine for ripped skin, cuts, lacerations, puncture wounds and other flesh wounds.

"We're going to need to clean those wounds before we can use this stuff." I said, gesturing towards the metal bathtub in the corner.

I opened the valve and started pumping water up from the hot spring beneath the inn, slowly filling the tub with warm water that smelled faintly of stone and earth.

"S-sir?" Came the same voice from earlier, but instead of confident, it was shy and had a hint of fear.

"Yes?" I answered politely, checking the temperature of the water.

"Could you please look away?"

"Sure."

I averted my eyes and looked at the wall opposite to where she was undressing.

In a few seconds, I heard her get into the tub and sit down.

"You can turn around now." She said, allowing me to turn and help her wash her wounds while she kept her back turned.

I cupped water with my hands and rinsed her back, letting the water wash away the blood of the open wounds, which would have healed, had she been fed properly.

I opened the jar of gel and scooped out some onto my index and middle fingers, rubbing it into the many cuts, scrapes and lacerations that covered her back.

I showed her the jar and she took some paste, smearing it onto the wounds on her wrists and ankles.

After we were done, I passed her a towel off the rack and turned around again.

She attempted to dry herself off, but from the look of her when she asked me to turn back around, it wasn't working, so I lit a fire in the fireplace and placed some cushions on the floor for us to sit on.

We sat comfortably by the fire, warm and dry(ing) while the fire crackled, when she asked "may i ask for your name sir?"

"Gale héon, may I ask yours?"

"I don't have one... I was taken from birth and never given a name."

"Well, today signaled a better life for you, correct?"

"Yes, why?"

"How about 'fayne'? It's a name from my homeland..."

"Fayne... sounds good..."
