#98 of Poetry

So, been admittedly feeling a little sad and reminiscing of the people I used to be surrounded by. Moving away from everything you've ever known twice tends to have that eventual effect every now and then. Well, this short poem was born from those emotions. I hope that you enjoy it.

We start out with our connections
as an empty light board

Slowly, each empty spot
is replaced with a little light bulb

As the years roll by, more lights appear
But not always

Some lights go dim
Some lights burn out
Some lights shatter

It's a sad, but true fact
That all lights
burn bright somewhere
but not all are here.
