#7 of Poems

This is a poem I've written quite a while ago. I thought I finally share it after seeing "Masks" by Alex Kitsune. Here's the link to it: https://www.sofurry.com/view/959892

I wear a kind mask like I always do.

But today I put on a new mask,

That shifted my mood.

A mask unlike how I am supposed to be,

Not my personality.

And yet I can't stop wearing it.

The mask expresses rage, hatred, and blood.

Towards those who deem fitful of my hate.

Not like me.

I can sense on how I feel,

Yet, my emotions were far too surreal.

Can this just go away?!?

Yelling, screaming, and violence all echo in my head.

Yelling, screaming, and punches all play in my head.

These thoughts and feelings fill me with dread.

These feelings continue on and on and on,

Until, I give my new mask to people I trust.

They also see the mask's expression

And are concerned to why I wore it (with just).

At the end of the day,

I pick up my old mask while wearing no mask at all.

I see a crack by one eye leading a path down the mask's cheek,

Not yet broken, but damaged.

I quietly wear back my cracked old mask of kindness

To be myself again.

But I am reminded of the mask I wore today.

For I don't know whether it will still have emptiness.
