I couldn't say just "yes". I wanted to tell her how much I had missed her and dad. I wanted to talk about her cooking and dad's stories and how they pushed me through my education. I wanted to tell them that they were the greatest parents ever and that I was so grateful to be theirs. But I didn't want them to see that I was upset. They would probably worry that I was merely existing instead of living. But I had to think of something fast. Holding back tears, I wrote:

PILAR: Yeah, it took a while but I'm finally here! Just made the bed and I will talk to you later about everything. Love you both!!

I sighed. Although I knew I would see them again, I started wondering if I ever would. What if mom or dad had choked on a piece of steak and went into a coma or slipped in the shower and cracked their head open? Then I kept telling myself to stop thinking this way before I become insane. Suddenly, I remembered about the app Andy had told me about and downloaded it on my phone. The app automatically opened. After I had entered all my information and set up my profile, I searched for Z- Court and joined the group, which automatically let me in. I read what had been recently posted on there:

Andy Quill - So the new girl just moved into house #12

Gerald Mires - Cool

Cassie Nicchi - Wait, what? That was TODAY?

Andy Quill - Yup

Cassie Nicchi - How do you know this?

Andy Quill - She got her address mixed up with mine

Cassie Nicchi - Did you help her out?

Andy Quill - Yea

Cassie Nicchi - Well that's good but I wish I had known this earlier! Ugh!

Andy Quill - why

Cassie Nicchi - Message me please.

Three notes scaling upward with a very quick tempo sounded on my phone, and a window popped up with another message:

Cassie Nicchi - Hi, Pilar! We at Z - Court want to welcome you, so please come to my house (#4) at 5 pm tonight for a gathering! Everyone from Z - Court will be there, and including you there will be twelve of us--five guys, seven gals (and I see you have already met Andy). Don't worry--it will be very casual and you don't have to bring anything. Just be yourself! We can't wait to hear all about you! :3

All of this loosened the grip of my fingers and thumb on my phone. It fell from my paw and onto the floor. I kneeled over, picked it up, and brushed the dust off of it. Once again I was tied up with how I was going to respond. In a flourish, I messaged her back:

Pilar Spanner - Hi, Cassie! It was very kind of you to invite me over, so thank you very much! I will be there at five :3

It looked like I wasn't going to have as much time to get things done as I had thought.
