Lining the halls were men and women, throats torn open, eyes still open, the look of horror still glued onto their faces.\n\n  \n\nDeeper within the facility, Alpha, Epsilon, Delta, and Gamma were sitting in front of a shelf. Three of the four did not know what the odd cylindrical things were, but Alpha did. He's seen them before.\n\n  \n\nAs three of them sat there, confused, Alpha approached the shelf and, placing his paws on it, pushed against it. And surprise surprise, it was bolted to the floor. Well, there goes the idea of pushing it... so clambering back down to all fours, he would sit there and stare, trying to figure out how to get to those containers.\n\n  \n\nWell, as they went back to all four on the floor, Delta soon found himself under attack. It was his worst enemy, one that could not be defeated even by humans. No matter how hard he tried to murder the evil being, it just came back, irritating him more and more.\n\n  \n\nAs the fly landed on his snout, his mind went ballistic. How dare this pathetic creature use his nose as some breeding ground for germs?! Well, he would quickly open his jaws, the metallic clang of teeth nearly snapping up the fly, but it escaped.\n\n  \n\nIt flew up high till it was on one of the shelves... but this did not deter Delta. He wasn't going to let some fly get away with using his nose as some resting place, no no no, he was going to absolutely murder the hell out of it. So jumping up onto the shelves, the three watched as Delta kicked his hind legs out and his rear wiggled about, knocking off the cylindrical tubes from their resting place, sending them to the floor with a loud clang.\n\n  \n\nWhen one shelf was clear, he would move to the next one above it, trying to catch the fly... but Alpha ignored this and moved towards one of the cylinders, using teeth and claw to try to get it open. But it wasn't like the shelf, no, he managed to succeed with this. But that fluid almost deterred him... but they added it to his food so... it probably tasted alright, right?\n\n  \n\nEpsilon was about to do the same thing when a cylinder landed on his head with a dull thud, breaking open and covering him with the yellow liquid. He would yelp rather loudly as he jumped backwards, both in surprise and in pain.\n\n  \n\nAlpha gave the liquid a taste, at first he didn't mind... till he began to cough. It was nasty... how could he have not noticed this in his food? Wait... food... meat, kibble... now it made sense. How he put two and two together would probably be left as a mystery, but for now, he raced off down the hall, leaving the three behind. \u0026nbsp;\n\n  \n\nAs they sat there in silence, Epsilon and Gamma watching Delta climb on the steel shelf, they heard a low growl, followed by something dragging. And that's when Beta came in. Beta was a bit confused as to what was even going on, staring at his pack mates.\n\n  \n\nAnd then Alpha came in, dragging a bag of kibble. Beta would move out of the way, sniffing Alpha a bit before sniffing the food, to which he would look up at Alpha and whine. But Alpha ignored him, tearing open the bag and letting all the food spill out onto the floor.\n\n  \n\nHe would then start to open the cylinders, spilling out the grey fluid onto the floor. Oh yes, he was going to make his pack consume all of it. As the kibble and the fluid mixed, nothing really special happened... so he tore the bag open more before picking it up, letting it all spill out. Hopefully there was more of this... chemical... if not, then this may all fall apart.\n\n  \n\n* * *\n  \n\nThree days later\n\n  \n\nThe changes were slow at first, increased intelligence, the emotions, the thoughts, the dreams. However, after a day, different changes began to happen. Epsilon began to walk on hind legs for a greater amount of time, Delta being able to draw with his mouth (barely), Gamma being able to remember things...\n\n  \n\nBut the greatest change of all happened to Alpha, respectively. He was alone, watching over his pack when all the sudden, he felt his throat muscles shifting, things growing, reshaping. It was extremely painful, causing him to cough and whimper in pain.\n\n  \n\nIt was through the whimpering that the change became quite apparent to the others. With a low growl, he looked up at the ceiling... \"F-f-f-f-fuck!\" He had spoken, nothing important, just a word he had heard many times.\n\n  \n\nIt still came as a shock to the others. They tilted their heads, wolf and dog alike, and stared at their leader. Did he speak? No, he couldn't have spoken. That would be impossible... right? Yet as his pack looked upon him, they wondered if he would say something else... or at least make the strange garble he had made earlier.\n\n  \n\nAlpha would look upon them once more before saying, \"Choke!\" Ears folding back, his pack would stare at him, now a bit put off by their Alpha. His barking and howling was quite strange, there was no meaning behind it, at least to them there wasn't.\n\n  \n\nAnd a thought came upon the wolf. If he had exposed them to the chemical and it had got him to speak within three days, what other changes were going to happen? Would they be able to walk and talk, to grasp upon the tail of knowledge and hold on, to gain control of this planet and force humanity to kneel?\n\n  \n\nHe also wondered what some of those words meant. Maybe this was the human's intent all along... maybe the reason why humanity was a fire slowly dying out was because they make their own enemies... well, he would show them the error of their ways.\n\n  \n\nTheir world shall fall, and Alpha's world will climb out of the ashes. But first, he must educate his pack, that way when the revolution starts, they won't be as intelligent as the common dog, they would be... better. Smarter. And the other canines would more than likely follow him in his glorious quest to punish humanity.\n\n  \n  \n\n","series":{"name":"Alpha","previous":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/984418-the-story-begins.json","next":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/986764-research.json"}}
