{"sf1_id":996500,"sf2_id":"P1EDL3An","title":"Confliction...","author":"Jiblits","words":717,"posted_at":"2016-05-08T02:34:00.000Z","tags":["Poem","Poetry","Self-reflection","slice of life"],"url":"https://fse.anthro.fr/stories/996500-confliction","original_url":"https://sofurry.com/s/P1EDL3An","image_url":"https://cdn.sofurryfiles.com/submissions/thumbnails/18/7a/187ad571-e844-44e5-9a31-6299e56cf64b","description":"","content":"Confliction...\n\nThe trigger pulled, the body lay where life once stood\n\nEvil actions gave peace to a being anything but good\n\nHands shivered as eyes met with shocking relief\n\nNow to those only known by the bleeding would grief\n\nOne life for another\n\nTo end one without knowing of the consequence, at least the other\n\nWhere actions can't be denied, but memories of the better times collide\n\nAll silent, it seemed the room wasn't still safe, there were plenty still in fear\n\nSomeone came to me, crying, smiling, I assume thanking me, but not a word did I hear\n\nThe mask only hid the face, not the eyes staring toward nothing with anticipation\n\nI was lost in thought, making decisions in the moment to justify my lack of hesitation\n\nI had done what many would agree was needed\n\nFor those who enjoy life to continue through it for\u0026nbsp;tomorrow....my heart, with their meanings silently proceeded.\u0026nbsp;\n\nI was not myself, not for now\n\nI blinked \u0026 was outside with the others somehow\n\nOfficers asking what had happened \u0026 so many answering for me\n\nI was blinded by the lights flashing, but others managed to clearly see\u0026nbsp;\n\nFor a moment, hands were at the ready, guns loaded pointing intent toward my being\n\nWith no emotion to choose, they relaxed \u0026 cuffs were the next thing I was seeing\n\nIt was calmly done when I was placed in the car, with others enraged that their actions against me had been taken that far\n\nThe door closed, I could hear the crowd chanting \"hero\", vividly demanding I be let go\n\nThe car was moved by the many, forcefully showing their thoughts as I moved inside to \u0026 fro\n\nAfter a moment of commotion, control was gained by the officers so few\u0026nbsp;\n\nFaces filled with fear behind the stone expressions, they carried on doing as they needed, \u0026 somehow the crowd all aloud knew\n\nThere argument was one with no good ending\n\nThe choices were beyond them, my fate, pending\n\nEven so, I couldn't seem to agree with their demands\n\nI had ended another, for many to carry on, either way, blood was on my hands\n\nI didn't deny, I wouldn't even try, I couldn't find a good enough reason why...\n\nThe walk was short to the cell where my life would stand still\n\nI was anything but hungry for answers, I couldn't shake this deathly chill\u0026nbsp;\n\nEyes looked at me with such wonder, giving not a moment to long to ponder\n\nNo one asked me if I was alright, or would I like anything\n\nI was a jail bird unwilling to sing...\n\nSoon enough, a man came in to take my story\n\nHe assured me, the truth was nothing to cause any worry\n\nThe situation was understood clearly from beginning to start\n\nI only had to mention, to the best of my ability, every single part\n\nIf all was the same as so many others, I would be set free\n\nHe was puzzled as there was no reaction when he said with a smile, there's no doubt from the story given by me\n\nI'd stay the night, in lock-up, till morning for my case\n\nI couldn't slow my mind, ever chasing that moment frozen in time, before I ended his life, ...his haunting face...\n\nSickly I never waited for a pause of reasoning to possibly sink in\n\nIt was a lose lose situation, neither one of us would win\n\nAnd yet...I made a move to end the game\n\nSickened by the physical sight, I put out his life's flame\n\nIt'll stay with me now, the flash of hope that faded before he breathed his last\n\nI'm here now, will be\u0026nbsp;tomorrow\u0026nbsp;too...but my futures now in the past...\n\nI left my innocence with the body bare\n\nI hope he walks free now, without any care\n\nIf I'm set free, the prison will be one I can only justify in me...\n\nIf they send me away, I'll give back what I can, for him, each \u0026 everyday...\n\n\"Right \u0026 wrong as words are often easy when in choice\n\nIn life, the one time chances we regret are those we often times lost voice...\"\n\n---Thanks for reading---\n\n\u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp; \u0026nbsp;---Always---\n\n  \n  \n\n"}
