I started this around then but didn’t get around to finishing this poem until yesterday and now I’m getting around to posting it here. It’s a poem about work, the suits we put on to match others and some of the ways we can struggle with that.
**Seemingly Separated By The Suit**

                            **By: A.X. Bueno**

A suit can be something that really sets you apart

And when you need to wear one for work it can really impart

The burdens of responsibility, perceived competence and everything you need

So that you represent your workplace well as you at your job thrive and succeed

At least that’s how it’s supposed to go but for some the suit doesn’t always fit

It might be a little too loose or oppositely a bit more tight than we’d like to admit

There may develop a hole in the pants or extra space between skin and seams

Of course differences don’t always have to reach extremes

But those are what tend to get noticed more

When looking out of sync is something to abhor

After all for work you should be looking your best everyday

But that’s not always doable however you shouldn’t just disobey

At least not in ways that will get you in trouble and/or fired anyway

Though sometimes the job will be understanding and sometimes not

So you’ve got to keep your guard up to keep this job that was hard fought

Making sure to stay on top of keeping your uniform well fitting and clean

For despite whatever good work you do if you don’t you know what it’ll mean

You just wish there wasn’t such a microscopic focus on you

Admittedly some of this sharp focus does carry over to the rest of your crew

You just wish there wasn’t uneven focus and leniency

And that there was more grace for those who wear/fit into the suit differently

As well as more acknowledgment of those who don’t wear the suit at all "}
