A Day Together
During a slow day, Fox invites Krystal to accompany him to a special event on Corneria. What exactly does he have planned?
Note: My second story on here. Enjoy
A Day Together
It was a bright morning on Corneria, & things have been rather slow on the planet. There had been no threats to the galaxy since the end of the war against the Aparoids, which meant that everything was peaceful. Despite that, there had been nothing going on ever since, not even any activity from the other planets in the Lylat System. It was as if everyone had the energy drained out of them following the invasion. Everyone was saved from oblivion when the Aparoids were defeated, but then it caused everyone to resume their daily lives. No one seemed to be up to anything now, & it was rather boring.
While the Lylat System was going through a period of boredom, no one was more bored than Star Fox. The team had managed to save the entire galaxy from the Aparoids, so they wanted to feel accomplished & proud, but they just felt like time had slowed down. It seemed like something had to happen in order to make everyone happy, even a life-threatening mission. Even a fight with their rival team Star Wolf would be exciting instead of lying around, feeling bored. Despite their history, it was hard to imagine a life without Wolf O'Donnell & his teammates. The same goes for a majority of the enemies that Star Fox had faced before.
As he was walking through the hallway, team leader Fox McCloud was thinking about something on Corneria. It would be happening tomorrow, but he was still interested in going. However, the orange tod wasn't planning on going by himself. Rather, he was intent on having someone go with him. Teammates Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, & Slippy Toad would be too busy to go tomorrow, & a few associates of the team would be going by themselves. Once he reached the end of the hallway, Fox knocked on the remaining door.
“Come in!" A voice came through the door.
Pressing a button, Fox watched as the door to the room came open. Inside the room was Star Fox's newest member, Krystal Bodimead. She was one of the last Cerinians in the universe, though she had met the team on Sauria, where she teamed up with them to save the planet. While the cobalt vixen had already proven her prowess during that event, she wound up joining Star Fox months later. Her skills were put to the test during the Aparoid Invasion, helping her teammates & the reluctant Star Wolf fight the evil space parasites. Once that battle was over, the galaxy was safe, but that didn't mean that Star Fox & Star Wolf were out of work. They have taken jobs ever since.
As there was no work to do, Fox figured that Krystal needed time to have some fun. Star Fox had been working hard as of late, & they all needed time off. Everything seemed okay for the time being. There had not been a galactic-level threat for quite some time, just some ordinary thugs who wanted to terrorize innocent people or smuggle certain stuff throughout the Lylat System. However, those jobs were still stressful, considering how dangerous they got. With that in mind, it seemed inevitable that Star Fox would need a break.
“Hey, Krystal, how are you?" Fox asked.
“I was planning on reading today." Krystal spoke.
“Well, I was going to ask you something." The orange tod said.
“Ask away." The cobalt vixen spoke. “I won't use my telepathy on you."
“Would you like to go somewhere tomorrow?" The Papetoonian asked.
“Sure, as long as it's not something crazy." The Cerinian said.
Feeling satisfied with her answer, Fox left Krystal's room. Once he was out, he reached into his pocket & pulled out two tickets. They were for the event that would be happening in Corneria City the next day. With that in mind, the orange tod hoped that Krystal wasn't reading his mind to find out what they were for. As the cobalt vixen was likely going to read one of her books, he thought that he was in the clear. Besides, was Krystal really the kind of person to snoop on her friends & family?
The next day, Fox had Krystal get in his Arwing with him. She was a pilot like him, but he insisted on flying them both down to Corneria City. While the cobalt vixen wanted to fly, she ultimately took a seat behind the orange tod. After all, it seemed like he wanted to surprise her with something. Because of that, the Cerinian did not use her telepathy to read her lover's mind, choosing to wait until they got down to Corneria. She just didn't want to spoil the surprise.
Eventually, the Arwing stopped moving, meaning that Fox had landed on Corneria. He got out of the ship, but not before signaling for Krystal to close her eyes. The cobalt vixen did so, carefully climbing out of the Arwing. She had entered a ship while blindfolded in the past, so this was hardly different. By taking a few steps down, the Cerinian could feel her feet touch the ground. Once she was on the ground, Krystal felt Fox take her hand.
“Alright, you can open your eyes." Fox spoke.
“I hope it was worth closing them." Krystal said.
Opening her eyes, Krystal saw that Fox had arrived at an area with various tents and booths set up. The smell of roasted nuts & popcorn filled her nose, which made her smile. Music played throughout the area, being lighthearted & friendly-sounding. It wasn't hard to determine what this area was: a carnival. Seeing it made Krystal happy, as she remembered going to a few back on Cerinia. For several years, she had been hoping to go to the carnival again.
“Great, isn't it?" Fox asked.
“I haven't been to a carnival in years." Krystal spoke. “This should be fun!"
Taking her hand, Fox walked to the entrance of the carnival with Krystal. He set some credits in front of the ticket taker, purchasing tickets & allowing for them to enter. Once that was out of the way, the orange tod & the cobalt vixen went deeper into the carnival. All around them were tents showing certain attractions, game booths, & food stands. Multiple options were in front of the Papetoonian & the Cerinian, so they could've started anywhere. They weren't just going to stand around & do nothing all day.
“What do you want to do first?" Fox asked.
“Let's get some food." Krystal said. “Can't go through a carnival on an empty stomach."
“True." The orange tod said.
Heading to a food booth, Fox ordered a bucket of French fries & a tray of fried vegetables. Krystal ordered fried cheese curds, so that there was more for them to eat. As they ate, the orange tod & the cobalt vixen looked around, seeing what was around them. There were games & a few attractions on one side, while the other had games & different kinds of food. Fox wondered if there were any rides, despite it only being a carnival & not an amusement park. If there were rides, then they were likely deeper into the carnival.
When Fox & Krystal were done eating, they went to see one of the attractions that were up for display. It was a goat by the name of Harry the Rubber Band: a contortionist. His movements shocked Krystal, while Fox watched in awe, not knowing what to say. Despite his writhing & body distortions, Harry the Rubber Band was nice enough to speak with the two foxes, even giving his contact information so they could speak to each other. When that was out of the way, Krystal walked out of the tent. Fox followed her, agreeing to contact their new contortionist friend.
Once they were outside, Fox & Krystal walked through the carnival, looking for something to do next. Walking through, they found a Ferris wheel at the end of the carnival. As such, they decided to enter it, but not before Fox paid the man at the front (a grizzly bear). The orange tod entered a gondola with Krystal, having her sit with him. Now that they were inside, they waited for the Ferris wheel to start moving, considering how there were passengers who wanted to enjoy the ride as well. The man who let the passengers on had to hit the switch, then the wheel would get rolling.
The Ferris wheel was turned on, causing the gondola Fox & Krystal was in to be slowly lifted up. As the ride moved, it would occasionally stop to let a passenger out. While this happened, Krystal watched as the ground moved farther away from the gondola. It was lifted up so high, the carnival looked tiny from a distance. Not only that, but one could see Corneria City from the Ferris wheel, getting a look at everything. It wasn't uncommon for Star Fox to fly through the city & see all that was in it, but it was different this time. Being motionless instead of flying through allowed Fox & Krystal to enjoy the sight.
“Wow!" Krystal spoke.
“Beautiful sight, isn't it?" Fox asked.
“It's better to look at when we aren't flying around." The cobalt vixen said.
“Definitely, but we can't ignore a mission to go sightseeing." The orange tod said.
“I know." The Cerinian said.
“Of course, we can do that the next time we have a day off." The Papetoonian said.
“That would be fun." She said.
After that, Fox kissed Krystal, which made her smile. The gondola then moved back to the ground, allowing them to leave the Ferris wheel. Once that happened, the two foxes walked through the carnival, looking for something to do next. Near them were a few rides, but said rides weren't particularly noteworthy. With that in mind, Fox hoped to find something else to do before he & Krystal left the carnival. There was plenty of stuff, but they needed to pick what to do.
Coming near the games, Fox looked for one to play. While he figured that Krystal could play one, he wanted to play a game & win something for her. There were multiple options, from a ring toss to a balloon-popping game. As such, the two foxes could go to any of the games, playing them & winning prizes. Even if they didn't play them all, it would be fun to blow off some steam. However, it depended on what happened, considering the options at the carnival.
“Want me to win you something, Krystal?" Fox asked.
“You don't have to do that, Fox." Krystal said.
“I'm just offering, in case you want me to." The orange tod said.
“And to that, I say yes." The cobalt vixen said. “However, I wish to play the next one."
With that in mind, Fox went over to the ring toss, Krystal walking beside him. Once they were at the booth, Fox paid to play, receiving five small metal rings. Picking them up, the orange tod aimed at the pegs the rings were supposed to be thrown on. He threw one at a time, trying his hardest to get them all on a peg. By the time he was down to the last one, the Papetoonian had only gotten three rings on different pegs. He threw the last one he had, managing to get it on a peg, meaning that he had won.
“Winner!" The Barker spoke. “You get a prize!"
The Barker handed Fox a red stuffed rabbit.
“Here you go, Krystal." Fox said, waving it to her.
“Thank you, Fox." Krystal said, then kissed him.
After that, they went to a milk bottle game. Fox decided to let Krystal play this one, so he paid for it, then had the Barker hand her a baseball. The cobalt vixen focused her eyes on the stack on milk bottles, then tossed the baseball forward. She knocked them down in a single throw, allowing her to win the game. Once that happened, the Barker gave her a simple T-shirt as a prize. Returning the favor from earlier, Krystal gave the shirt to Fox, seeing as it was a man's shirt.
When it was time to head back to the Great Fox, Fox got some kettle corn, deciding to share it with Krystal. They ate it on the way back, leaving a little bit left. Both of them went to their rooms after arriving at the Great Fox, wanting to relax after such a big day. Fox put his new T-shirt in the wash, while Krystal placed her new plushie on her bed. She felt like taking a nap, but she wound up reading again. After all that fun, she only wanted to relax a little bit.
A knock came on the door, causing Krystal to get up & answer it. Fox was behind the door, a friendly smile on his face.
“Hey, Krystal, thanks for coming to the carnival with me." Fox said.
“And thanks for bringing me to it." Krystal spoke. “We should do more stuff like that whenever there isn't a mission."
“In that case, there's a new exhibit at the museum." The orange tod said. “They say that it's an ancient artifact from before the Modern Era. Would you like to go there with me?"
“I would love to." The cobalt vixen said.
Leaning towards Fox, Krystal kissed him on the cheek. After that, he left her room, their next date set for when there wasn't a mission to be had. While it was a given for Star Fox to have a job to do, there were days where they were free to do whatever they wanted. That in mind, Fox & Krystal had to find a time to go on their next date & make sure that nothing else is going on that same day. After all, they couldn't ignore their duties to go on a date, considering how important their missions were. Nonetheless, Fox & Krystal hoped to go on their next date soon.
Note: I know that I should do more Fox x Krystal stuff on all of my accounts, but I want to start by posting stories here. Of course, I will not post only Star Fox stories on here, as there will be stories for other franchises. Be on the look out for those!
