Anthro Wolf Link fell to his knees. The diabolically insane warlord proved too unpredictable in his dashes, warpings, and brazen sword strikes, flips, kicks, and magic energy bombs. Link did his best to counter his wicked attacks, but at a cost. With Zant on his last leg, he’d gone beyond insane. He moved much faster, much more unpredictably and powerfully than ever before.
“Link! What are you doing?! Use a potion or something!”
“Uh…yeah…about that….” Link said, muscles aching, blood dripping from his furry brow as he panted and huffed.
“You don’t have a potion, do you?”
“Yeah…I think I may have fucked myself here.”
“Link? I didn’t expect you to be this stupid! Oh, for the love of Hylia!” Midna groaned, facepalming.
“Hooooo! I’ve had enough of you! You petulant mutt! This ends noooooooow! DIIEEEE!” Zant screamed, raising his arms in the air, opening a massive Twilight portal above him.
“Zant? What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Midna shouted.
“What does it look like? I’m summoning my ultimate twilight beasts! Behold! It cometh! Ehehehehee! HAHAHAHA!” Zant yelled.
The entire arena rumbled. It was as if Zant’s might caused ripples around this twisted realm. As the Twilight portal swirled and twisted, shadowy figures emerged from it. While this was happening, when Link wasn’t looking, he charged him with blades drawn. Link barely had time to react, raising his sword to counter, only to have it knocked clean out of his hands.
“Shadow Beasts! Finish them! Do it now! YEAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAA!” Zant leaned back and twisted his back like a deranged lunatic. Seeing him, his jaw fell open; he then hopped up and down, resembling a child throwing a fit. “Kyaaaah! Who are you? You’re…you’re not the shadow beast!”
“Guilmon! Here we go! Matrix Evolution!” A mysterious man donning a pair of goggles whipped a strange device from his pocket.
“Takatomon and Guilmon Matrix Evolve to…” an adult Guilmon said, being engulfed with a glowing aura of code.
Link and Midna stood by and watched.
“Heh…Looks like reinforcements finally arrived, huh?” Link said.
“Haha! Hahaaha! Zant, you fool! Look what you’ve done!” Midna cackled.
“No! Noooo! NOOOOOO! THIS ISN’T HAPPENING! WHAT’S GOING OOOOOON! KYAAAAAAAH!” Zant charged at the bio-merging pair. A blast of aura knocked him aside.
The aura grew brighter and brighter. The pairing merged, form shifting until a magnificent knight stood before them.
“Gallantmon!” He struck an epic pose before raising his shield. “Final Elysion!” A powerful beam of holy power blasted from his shield, nearly striking Zant, before he quickly dodged, warped behind Gallantmon, striking him in the back.
“Aaah! You shall pay for that!” Gallantmon said, striking Zant’s weapons with his lance.
While they clashed weapons, Link slowly rose to his feet. Gallantmon found himself on the defensive because of Zant’s relentless, unpredictable attacks.
“Takatomon…his attacks are insane! He’s pushing us back!” Guilmon grunted.
“Never give up, Guilmon! Keep pushing harder! We got this! Haaaaa!” Takato kiaed.
While taking a lashing, Link snuck up behind Zant, then with every ounce of his strength, leapt towards Zant’s head and landed a helm strike. He fell to the ground with a thud, unable to carry on.
“Link!” Midna shouted, reaching out to him.
“Now’s our chance, Guilmon!” Takato said, keeping in mind Zant’s staggered state.
“Royal Saber!” Raising his lance, Gallantmon put everything into his lance strike. His lance struck true, landing clean on his chest.
“Kyaaaaaaaah! NoooooooOOOOOOOOO! It can’t end here! Not now! NOOOOOOOO!” Zant cried in pain, falling over, before the illusionary arena faded back to the Twilight Throne Room.
The three fused shadows appeared around Midna. She was about to receive them, but in her confusion, they vanished.
“Y-You…TRAITORS!” Zant said, slumped over on the throne.
“Traitors, ha! You want to know why none would call you king? It was your eyes, Zant,” Midna said. “All saw it, a lust for power burning in your pupils… Did you think we’d forget our ancestors lost their king to such greed?”
“Hahahah…Minda… Foolish Twilight Princess…The curse on you cannot be broken…It was placed on you by the magic of my god! The power you held as the leader of Twili will never return!” Zant said, with a chuckle, much to Midna’s anger. “Already, he has descended and been reborn in this world…” he murmured. “As long as my master Ganon survives, he will resurrect me without cease!” He said with a wicked smile.
“Ganon? Wait…you don’t mean?” Takato said telepathically to Guilmon.
“Takatomon…I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.” Guilmon said telepathically to Takato.
Minda’s heard enough. She unleashed magical tendrils from her hair, piercing Zant through his chest.
“KYAAAAAAAAH!” Zant screeched in agonizing pain, squirming and contorting in his stolen throne, before inflating and popping like a balloon.
“D-did she just…?” Guilmon telepathically communicated.
“Yeah…it’s exactly what it looks like. Holy crap!” Takato exclaimed to Guilmon in his mind.
“I…I used just a fraction of the power that’s in me now…” Midna said, grabbing her face, eyes widening. “I did THAT using only a fraction of my ancestors’ magic?!”
“Well, yeah…you just did,” Link said, crossing his arms, before grunting and grasping his left arm.
“Damn you, Zane…you shall pay. We’ll pay your God Ganon a visit. When we do, I will revel in the agonizing death of your so-called God.” She said, grimacing. “Your mouth is full of lies. The curse shall be undone. Mark my words.” Midna said before swooping down to Link’s level to check on him. “We must leave, and—” Midna began, then stopped as the mysterious duo defused.
Guilmon and Takato exchanged surprised glances.
“My understanding of this situation or how we reached this point is moot… yet, I believe remaining silent regarding our knowledge of this world from our own world is the best course of action,” Takato whispered.
“Yeah…Guilmon agrees.” Guilmon murmured, nodding his head.
“We’ll discover the truth to our strange circumstances soon enough. At least…so I hope. For now, we should help our friends. They need us.” Takato said with a nod.
“This whole situation hurts my brain.” Guilmon rubbed his cranium. “But you’re right…I can’t stand seeing them hurt.”
Link looked over at the mysterious pair. He glanced at Midna, then pointed his thumb at them.
“Hey! What are you two prattling about?” Midna said, floating towards them.
“Wah! Nothing! We’re just…impressed with your power!” Takato said, raising his hands.
“Yeah! Those thingies you used must be really strong! You’re a powerful lady, miss!” Guilmon said.
“Why, thank you! I’m impressed at my power, more-so the power of my ancestors. With this much power…there’s no chance in hell Ganondorf’ll best me!” Midna said, raising a fist.
“You wouldn’t have gotten this far without me, Midna. Give me some credit here, will ya?” Link said, dragging his feet towards the group. “Hey…I don’t know who you guys are…but thank you.”
“That’s right, Link! Thank them for their help! If not for THEM, and me, you wouldn’t have gotten this far!” Midna giggled, while Takato and Guilmon joined them.
“Me and my big mouth…hehe…ugh…” Link said, leaning on his knees.
“You guys are a riot!” Takato said.
“Haha! You’re just like me and Takatomon!” Guilmon said, waving his arms cheerfully.
“You could say that again,” Link remarked, giving Midna a wink, which she returned.
“Um…who are you supposed to be? I’ve never seen a human dressed as such.” Midna said before looking at Guilmon. “And what are YOU supposed to be? Some kind of Dynalfos?” Midna raised an eyebrow, placing her hands on her hips.
“We’re from another land.” Takato said.
“Hmm…Where are you from? I’ve never seen a foreigner quite like you.” Link said.
“I’m no Dynalfos! I’m Guilmon! A Digital Monster! Digimon for short!” Guilmon said.
“And I’m Takato!” Takato said, pointing to himself with his thumb.
“Huh?” Midna said, scratching her head.
“Guilmon, come on! You shouldn’t have said that!” Takato said.
“What was I supposed to say?” Guilmon said, looking confused and agitated.
“Sorry Guilmon…I should’ve told you sooner. Oh well…too late to cover our asses now.” Takato shrugged his shoulders and sighed.
“What are you guys saying?” Link said.
“You’re in no condition to keep talking. I see Zant summoned some particularly interesting allies…allies we can use to defeat Ganon. We’ll warp to Ordon Village and mend your wounds.” She paused, looking at the duo. “You owe us explanations.”
“Yeah…hehe…I guess so.” Takato said, chuckling and rubbing the back of his head.
“Ooopsies!” Guilmon said, looking away shyly and blushing.
Magical particles of twilight caused by Twilight instantly teleported the entire group to Ordon Village. Upon their arrival, the natural wonders of the peaceful rural village left Guilmon and Takato breathless.
“Wow…it’s much more beautiful than I thought!” Takato said, grinning.
“Guilmon wants to play!” he said before he placed a hand on his stomach. “Ergh!”
“What’s wrong, Guilmon?” Takato said.
“I haven’t had lunch yet! Guilmon wants bread!” Guilmon said.
“Hehe! It’s always bread with ya, huh?” Takato said.
“It’s my favorite!” Guilmon said with a soft smile.
“You’re in luck! There’s a shop in Ordon that sells specialty Pumpkin Bread!” Link said. “Just the finest bread there is... I swear by it!” he said with an air of pride.
“Oooooh! Guilmon wants pumpkin bread! Take me there! Er…what’s your name?” Guilmon said.
“It’s Link.”
“And I’m Midna.”
“Link-mon! Midna-mon! Let’s go get bread!” Guilmon squealed.
“And some medicine while we’re at it. No one’s eating any bread till wolfy boy here takes his meds and rests.” Midna said, resting up against Link’s shoulder.
“Yep…I’m getting pretty sick and tired of this…let’s go,” Link said.
Once they entered the village, Link, Takato, and Guilmon entered the shop, while Midna faded into Link’s shadow.
The scent of milk, honey, and bread greeted them. The blond-haired, middle-aged lady waved to him.
“Why, hello Link! It’s so good to see you…” She paused, looking eye to eye at Guilmon. “Aaaah! He’s so cute! I bet he’s cuddlier than a kitten!” Sera said, looking enamored of the scaly creature.
“Hi shopkeeper lady friend!” Guilmon said, smiling and waving at her.
“It’s Sera.” Link said.
“Oh! Hi Sebba, friend! I’m Guilmon! Link is my friend! We just beat a crazy evil guy!” Guilmon said.
Link facepalmed at Guilmon’s goofy naming error.
“I’m Takato…I’m a…friend of theirs,” Takato said.
“Oh my! That must be a harrowing experience! That explains the wounds, Link. Just about scared the living daylights out of me. Please…help yourself to my medicine and wares. After everything you went through, you deserve it.” She waved to the two newcomers. “It’s a pleasure to meet y’all!”
“Same here, Zerra!” Guilmon said gleefully.
“It’s Sera…” Link muttered.
“Okay, Sella!” Guilmon said.
“Ugh!” Link moaned, but couldn’t help but crack a soft smile. “Um…anyway... I’ll take a loaf of the Ordon Special and a red potion.” Link said, pointing to it on a wooden shelf behind her.
“Of course! Comin’ right up!” she grabbed a loaf of bread and a red vial from a shelf. “That’ll be forty rupees.”
Link plopped two red rupees on the counter, then took the goods.
“Anything else I can do for ya?” Sera said.
“Nah....” Link said, smiling.
“Lovely! I hope y’all have a great day! Take care of yourselves now, ya hear!” Sera said sweetly, waving goodbye to them.
“Same,” Link said, waving to her before exiting the shop.
“Bye, Selina!” Guilmon waved before they exited the shop.
“Oh, for fuck’s sake! It’s Sera! Grrr!” Link growled, yet his tail wagged because of Guilmon’s cuteness.
“Hahaha! You have a good rest of your day, Sera!” Takato waved goodbye before they departed.
Link popped the vial and drank it immediately. Like magic, his wounds vanished, and his energy returned, full force.
“We’re going to my house. You’re going to tell us everything about yourselves.” Link said, shaking his head and grumbling. “Because if you don’t, I’ll never hear the end of it from Midna.”
“Hahaha! I guess maybe you aren’t so stupid after all! You know me too well!” Midna said as she emerged from the shadows.
With a shared smirk, Takato and Guilmon returned their attention to the heroic duo. “You guys are so silly. Hehehe…” Takato said.
“Come on, guys! Less talking! More nomming! Guilmon needs his bread, right…now!” Guilmon said, leaping onto Link’s back, catching him by surprise, but in a good way. “C’mon, doggie! We don’t have all day! I’m gonna die if I don’t get my bread!”
“Ah! Awooo? W-what the hell do you think you’re doing back there?” Link said, reaching back to touch Guilmon, but not showing any signs of resistance. A blush formed over his face as his tail wagged uncontrollably. “Damnit! I can’t control myself! Damn wolf urges! If Minda sees this, she’ll—” Link’s thoughts were interrupted by Midna’s laughter.
“Hahaha! I think he likes you, Linky boy!” Midna said. “You should get close over lunch! Hahaha!”
“Oh, fuck you, Midna,” Link said, glaring playfully at her, blushing hard. “This isn’t what it looks like! I’ll have you know, I’m the fucking hero of Twilight, and I—”
“Don’t mess around! Yeah, yeah, we get it, Mr. Big Strong Handsome Hero.” Midna giggled and rolled her eyes. “My, my! So insecure!” Midna chuckled.
“Grrr!” Link snarled.
“Hahaha! Alright guys…let’s settle down now.” Takato said, raising his hands and moving them defensively.
“Let’s go, cutie! To the dinner table! Yahoo!” Guilmon said, patting his big scaly feetpaws, eliciting a harder blush and big pants tenting from Link.
“I’m not cute!” Wolf Link felt hot, flushed, and embarrassed. Deep down, he loved the cute comments, regardless of his external denial. “Whatever…Let’s go to my house. I’ll make you a sandwich or something,” Link said, carrying Guilmon with ease.
“Hey! Be nice!” Guilmon said, bopping Link on his snoot.
“Okay, okay! I’m sorry, alright? Geez!”
“Haha! Alright guys…we should get going.” Takato said, pointing towards the direction he assumes is Link’s house.
With that, they departed for Link’s treehouse home.
