P.O.V. Helix

I awake to piercing pains in my chest. Well, it wasn't a dream. I see a little bit of sun crack through the window.

[Dae] I see your up early. How'd you sleep?

[Me] I don't sleep often.

[Dae] I don't think that's healthy Helix.

[Me] It's not.

I slowly get up and shuffle my way to the bathroom.

<I wonder if they'll let me take a shower or something. It's been a while since I showered>

I stare into the mirror until I get a fuzzy feeling in my hands.

<No. Im not going yet>

I take a step back and look around for a towel. I suddenly realize I don't have any toothbrush or a comb.

[Me] Dae! Can you go to the store real quick?

[Dae] Sure, what do you need?

[Me] A toothbrush and comb.

[Dae] Wow, you really lost track of time, huh?

I check my phone's clock and realize it's already been three days.

P.O.V. Dae

I carefully step out to the cold air and pull out my car keys. It's been a while since I've driven.

<I should be fine. As long as no drunk crashes into me>

I start the car and go along the free way. I turn the radio on a couple different channels but there isn't any good music. I turn the radio off and leave myself with the road and my thoughts.

<He's really lost track of time. I probably would've known that I've been on the couch the whole time. I guess he was knocked up that much>

I start to see a flicker of light on the road ahead of me. It starts to slowly grow bigger and brighter.

<What the heck is that?>

I pull over but the light stays in my vision even when I close my eyes. My head starts to ring and I slowly lose consciousness.

|Two hours later|

P.O.V. Helix

[Me] Hey Zach? Have you heard anything from Dae? He's been gone for two hours and I haven't heard nothing.

[Zach] He should've been back by now. He said he was only getting a comb and a toothbrush.

The house phone started ringing. I was closest so I answered.

[Me] Hello? Damien?

[???] Is this Zach?

A female voice came through the speaker. I didn't know what to do so I put it on speaker.

[Me] Zach! Some girl is asking for you.

Zach walked into the room nonchalantly.

[Zach] I thought someone it was important the way you called my name. Who is this?

[???] This is Dae's nurse, Abigail. Someone called 911 saying they found him in his car having some sort of seizure. I think you should come down here for more details.

Zach hung up and grabbed his coat. I got up as fast as my weakened body would allow.

[Me] Does he have epilepsy or something?

[Zach] No, we haven't had any family records of any illness besides scoliosis. We don't have time to discuss right now. We should get there, now!

I could see him get impatient has I tried bending down to put my shoe on. I couldn't do it because of the pain. Eventually, Zach got to anxious and just picked me and put me in the passenger seat of his car.

|1 hour 36 minutes later at LuvFuz hospital|

[Me] What kind of name for a hospital is this?

We started making our way to the front doors.

[Zach] He always hated hospitals so we try to get him into children's hospitals as much as possible. Luckily, this one has actual adult doctors. It's like half and half.

[Me] Interesting.

Before we got in, the doors slide open and out came a nurse. I guessed by the small stature that it was a chihuahua.

[Zach] How is he?

[Abigail] He is fine but can only remember what happened since the day he had his back surgery. He remembers what happened but can't recall names or small details.

[Zach] He doesn't remember me?

I could see tears start to form in his eyes. She waved her hand, signaling us to follow.

[Abigail] It's complicated. It seems he remembers who we are but it's more like remembering a stranger instead of a friend or family member. He said he saw a bright light grow brighter and brighter before he lost consciousness.

[Me] Thats odd. It sounds familiar.

I stopped at the realization.

[Zach] Hey are you okay? You look pale all of a sudden.

[Me] I'm fine. Where's the restroom?

[Abigail] it's down that hall and it's the second door the the left. We'll meet up in room 327. Just follow signs or ask for directions if you get lost.

I rushed to the bathroom and locked the door. I started to stare into the mirror.

<I didn't want to do this, but you've forced me to do this.>

My arms and legs started to feel fuzzy but I kept my stare. I saw the familiar white light start to glow and grow. I started to feel light headed but managed to stay awake.

<We can do this Helix. Only a couple more seconds>

Suddenly all my pain was lifted from me. My vision returned to the familiar two in the chairs.

[???] You finally decided to come back after all this time?
