Portals CYOA CH 4
#4 of Portals CYOA
lost proegress on this chapter so I had to re-write it, very sorry.
It's a bit shorter than it would've been if I got the first version through, but I don't remember all of what I did, and didn't want to risk potentially losing it again.
**Action: Go Left
Be sure to not touch anything strange or that looks like it could be magical, we don't know what it might do.**
I head down the left-facing path and go to the first pair of doors. When I open the door on the left it opens inwards and is blocked after a few inches by what i'm guessing is a book case. "Well that's probably not a good recommendation for whoever the architect or interior designer was. I mean... I guess if there were lots of people this could be a good idea, but one set of wide doors would be better. Probably." I shake my head and turn to the door on the right and open it. Inside is a bland room with a bed, a small desk and chair, and a table next to the bed. The room is fairly dusty, with small shoe-prints and less-small bird-prints on the floor, and the outline of books on the desk and table. Other than the varying-thickness dust the room looks to be in perfect condition. Well, other than how bland it is. There are no obvious signs of any secret doors or anything, and if there were they would probably be activated by Arcane energy or something.
I go down the hall checking each side's door, and about a quarter of the way to the end of the corridor the doors on the left start leading to small bedrooms, but overall they all seem to lead to pretty much the exact same things as the first two doors. "These guys apparently didn't have much in the way of aesthetic, but at least they were consistent."
I notice about halfway down the hall that my pants are starting to fall down and stop to pull them back up, wincing as they touch my sheath. " I hope the sensitivity goes down soon." I pull my belt tighter and then continue down the hall.
When I reach the very end there is a very large set of double-doors, with only one being even slightly open. I push against the door, muscles in my arms and legs straining as I slowly get it to inch further open. If this thing were slightly heavier, the hinges rusted at all, or if I was even a little less fit I probably wouldn't be able to open this door.
Looking around the first thing I notice is that this room is really freaking big. Like damn. You could fit a small apartment in here. In the center of the room is... Well, I wouldn't call it a hole because it's not that deep, but it's sorta like if you had a round stair that goes downards but it only goes like five steps down and they're all really shallow and wide. There are what I will call runes for lack of a better term on these "steps". The runes are all filled with some sort of blue acrylic or paint. For the most part they're perfect, except a few of them are cracked or have some of the blue acrylic partially scraped out or chipped. Just above the "stairs" is a small skylight which is just above the lowest step.
There are several tables at the far ends of the room ahead of me and to my right with what look like peaces of Arcanin Generators, though most of them look to be either unfinished or damaged. Looking at their "insides" however it becomes obvious they're made out of some sorta ceramic or glass, or maybe a metal which looks like a ceramic or glass. On the left half of hte orom however there is what looks like a forge and an anvil, but it looks like the forge hasn't been used in a long time. I'm pretty sure you owuldn't need either of those things for ceramics, and I have my doubts it would be useful for any kind of glass.
I'm not sure if I should stay here and touch this maybe-magical-bullshit, fiddle with bits and pieces of broken stuff, or do some other thing, like going down one of the other paths.
