Code Oblivion Chapter 1- A New Beginning

Noah sighed as he placed his books into his locker, today was officially the last day of the term. They were starting their Winter Break today and he was excited, he had plans with his friend Emily and her parents for a trip to Atlas. They had been planning this for a month or so after clearing it with his Dad. It would be the first time he would go anywhere without him, which scared him a bit. His Dad had basically been his everything since he woke up that fateful day so long ago. He was 15 now, and while he still couldn't remember past the day he awoke at his house, he was doing fine. School was usually pretty easy and though he didn't have many friends besides Emily he didn't really care, he didn't really need anyone besides her and his dad. He was happy in life and he really couldn't wait for the Atlas trip. Just as he was about to close his locker someone else slammed it.

Giving an exasperated sigh he turned around and saw a tall alsatian scowling at him. "Hello Dawson..." he stated in a calm but annoyed manner. He and Dawson have had a very combative relationship since they'd first met. Literally since the day they met, James Dawson had tormented him and he really loathed him. "What do you want?" he growled out in a halfhearted manner. The Alsatian only gave a growl of his own and a nasty scowl of his own as he glared down at the wolf (being somewhat taller than Noah was.)

"I saw you look at me in the showers after gym you little faggot! Apologize!" he spat out in a hostile manner, which made Noah burst out in laughter at that and rolled his eyes at the alistan. 'He couldn't be serious could he?' Noah thought to himself in exasperation. He hadn't even given him a passing glance at the showers he had been too focused in his own head. Plus he wasn't gay... he was sure of that... or at least he thought he was sure.

"I wasn't looking at you Dawson, get over yourself!" he said as he tried to get away from the dog, but Dawson held firm and kept him cornered. This made Noah a bit uncomfortable as he he felt his face blush slightly at being so close to the burly alsatian. He was attractive, he had to admit, muscular and pretty much your All-Rillatolian boy he would picture in some magazine. Realizing his thoughts were becoming a bit weird he shook his head and focused back on the annoying alsatian. "Listen, it's the holiday and I want to go home. I got a lot planned over the break so can we settle this later?"

"I know you were looking at me! You were staring at me just now weren't you!" Dawson shouted out, catching the attention of several other students who gathered around the two of them in a semicircle, which made Noah feel even more trapped. "I am sick of you! You piss me off so much!" He snarled angrily as he raised his fist and slammed it into the locker next to Noah's head, making the wolf wince at the noise. "Just looking at you just makes me so angry!" he said, punching the locker again and making Noah's ears ring from it and the shouting. "Why do you torment me!" Dawson snarled once again, spit literally speckling out of his mouth and hitting Noah in the face. Just as Noah was preparing to fight him, he heard shouting at the crowd as a pretty leopard girl came crashing towards them, forcing herself between them.

"James stop!" she cried out as she dragged him away from Noah and put herself in front of him, paws on her hips, glaring at the dog, causing him to look down in an almost guilty manner. "It's not worth it James, just let it go today alright? It's the Holiday and we don't need anyone getting into trouble. So please back down today? You can finish whatever beef you have with Noah after the break okay?" Dawson gave her a small look before sighing and backing off.

"Fine, I need to go home anyway," he spat out before he walked off in a huff without saying another word, leaving Noah a bit startled at his leaving, before looking towards the leopard and letting out a small 'thanks' for her bailing him out of that situation before he was forced to fight the dog to get out of the mess and he knew they would probably get in trouble... he had already gotten in trouble several times this year for getting into fights (mostly with Dawson but occasionally some other bully who wanted to take a shot at him). He really didn't want to risk suspension since he had narrowly avoided it the last time he and Dawson had gotten into a spat. He still had no idea why Dawson hated him so fucking much, he hadn't done anything to him. In fact, it had been like this since they first met even. She gave a shrug and a pat on the back as she led them out towards the door where Dawson had went towards a bit earlier.

"No problem... I don't know what got into James honestly, he's usually not this bad," the leopard said sadly. "Guess life has been pretty bad for him lately. His dad is back home again."

"He's back home? I thought he was in jail for two years after he got into that wreck? How did he get out after only 6 months?" he asked, remembering that Dawson hadn't bothered him as much during that period.

"Good behavior I guess, or probably because he served in the military, so he might have gotten some favoritism but who knows?" the leopard said with a shrug. "He's not that bad honestly, we were close when we were younger, before his dad's drinking finally got to him. He started becoming more and more bitter and that was the point where you moved into town. Maybe he was jealous because you have an awesome dad while he has that worthless drunk of a dad." I smiled at that, my dad was indeed pretty awesome, I mean, he raised me by himself as a single dad after all! That had to account for something didn't it? He worked at the local hospital as a surgeon and he was the best damn one they had as far as he was concerned.

"So what time are you and your parents going to pick me up tomorrow Em?" I seriously can't wait to see Atlas!" I told her excitedly as we stepped outside into the winter wonderland that was our town. Crosstown, Vernati, a tiny town in the middle of Vernati, famous only for the infamous Cross Castle and the family that had once lived in it. Otherwise it was just your ordinary little town like the countless others in this country. But Noah loved it all the same and it was all he had ever known, though he did want to see the rest of the world, but he was grateful he grew up here, as boring as it was, he was happy. Emily shivered at the cold and adjusted her hat and coat.

"It's so cold out!" she complained briefly, before she answered Noah's question. "As for picking you up, about 7 or so? We'll be leaving pretty early honestly, gotta get to the airport and catch our flight. I don't know why you are so excited though, it's just visiting my Uncle and his family. Nothing too special really," she said with a shrug. Noah shrugged as well, but he had a very good reason to want to go with her to see her family. Much as he adored his dad, he was the only family he had. His dad had no extended family of his own from what he was told and whenever he asked about where he grew up, his dad just changed the subject and refused to indulge his questioning. Plus he had no idea of where he was from since he only remembered things after he woke up at his house all those years ago.

"I just don't have anyone outside my dad, you know how secretive he is about his life before he moved here, plus I have no idea where I am even from, who my parents are and where I was born. So getting to go see your family would be great!" he said in a simple manner. "Just want that experience for once," he said before giving a sigh. "Having a significant other would be nice also I guess. I am the only person in our class who hasn't dated anyone. None of the girls can really catch my attention," he said in a somewhat moody tone. Sure numerous girls had tried to catch his attention several times, he wasn't a fool or needlessly modest. He was a rather good looking wolf. Skinny yes, but he was quite tall for his age around 6' or so and he hadn't really had the time to really fill out after his latest growth spurt.

"Maybe because you are into guys?" Emily stated in a cheerful, yet blunt manner that was typical of her and that immediately made him stop and almost topple over in shock at her words. Face burning red, he turned on her with an almost hysterical look on his face. No way did she say that! He did NOT like guys! He was NOT gay... he was sure of that... wasn't he?

"I'm NOT gay Emily!" he shouted out angrily, secretly grateful that nobody was around as they were the only people on the path at this moment, though his voice wasn't convincing even to him. No way he was gay... he couldn't be. Emily gave him a sympathetic look and a quick hug as she patted him on his back.

"You know I don't care right? Neither would your dad or anyone that mattered. But face it, it's obvious! You never have paid attention to girls even when they all but threw themselves at you, like Stacey Mercer did last year." Noah shuddered at that memory Stacey was a bunny with large perky breasts and shiny white fur and cotton ball tail. He had been late getting home that night, he had been hanging with Em most of that day studying for some test he couldn't remember and his dad was working late that day so when he had gotten home he hadn't expected to see a very naked and very needy bunny on his bed giving him a coyish smile. His reaction was very quick as he panicked and swiftly forced her to get dressed and out of his house much to her dismay, demanding how she even got in there in the first place, something she coyly refused to answer.

He made sure to tell his dad and get the door locks changed so such an incident wouldn't happen again and thankfully it hadn't. Looking at his reaction, she gave him a shit-eating grin as she pat him on his back once again. "See!" she said cheerfully, before becoming serious once again. "But I am serious Noah, I love you to death, I would never abandon you over something as simple as you liking guys. Just be honest with yourself okay?" she said as she held him close once again. Noah could only let out a brief, but long breath as he slowly started to realize things he had been suppressing for so long. Like his complete infatuation with Chadstone West, the hot cresentese actor that had been in a few blockbusters the past few years. He was an extremely attractive husky and his accent was to die for, even if Noah privately considered Justlander accents to be the sexiest accents... but he was rambling at that point.

"I just..." he muttered in a shy voice, looking down at his feet. "I've known I was gay for the longest time... I just didn't want to admit it to myself, I was afraid everyone would reject me," Noah admitted shyly. "Stupid I know, but you guys are all I have, you, dad, and your parents." Emily just sighed and popped him on his chest, making him give a slight grunt in response.

"Idiot," she mocked him lightly. "We all love you no matter what! You should have known that!" she said, before she gave him another much tighter hug. "Silly wolf..." she said, before she started walking forward again with Noah following close behind. Eventually they reached Cross Keep and the statue of Vincent Cross. Emily shivered as they passed under the statute's steely gaze. "That statue is so creepy... I swear to god it's like it's watching us every time we pass under it," she muttered, shivering a bit, though not from the cold. Noah only rolled his eyes at that. He had long learned to ignore the statue and it's creepiness. There were a lot of urban legends regarding it, stupid stuff like it came to life at night and stalked the streets to attack anyone running around too late. Stupid stuff like that.

"It's just a statue Em, creepy yes but just a block of stone," he chided her gently and she just gave him a sharp elbow to the gut in response, making him grunt once again. "Hey, no fair!" he cried out as he rubbed his chest and glared at her annoyed. "It's not fair that you can hit me while I can't hit back! It's a double standard!" he complained, and Emily just rolled her eyes at his whining.

"Oh stop whining Noah! Don't be an idiot and I won't elbow you," she stated, before they eventually started back on their walk until they reached a crossroads in the town. This was where they usually split up as their homes were on different sides of it. Looking at each other, they hugged once again before separating. "We'll pick you up in the morning okay? Make sure you are packed, we can't miss our flight!" she stated bluntly, before smiling and giving him another hug. "Love you Noah, see you tomorrow!" she said, before running down the other road towards her home and he sighed, smiling a bit before walking to his house. It was a fairly small, one-storey house with two bedrooms, one bath, and a nice, small backyard. It was everything he could ever want. He rushed into the house, prepared to start my packing, but ran into his dad walking out of his room with a bunch of bags. He was surprised to see him back so early since he usually got home pretty late, also why did he have those bags? Did he do the packing for him?

"Dad?" he asked in a surprised tone. "What are you doing home? I thought you weren't going to be home until 9? Also, what's with the bags? You didn't have to pack for me." The older wolf just laughed a loud belly laugh. Noah loved his dad's laugh, it lit up a light in his heart and he always made sure to try and make him laugh. He truly had the best dad in the world.

"I got off early! Also I did your packing because we are leaving in a few minutes."

"Leaving...?" Noah asked in a confused manner, not really understanding what his dad meant by leaving. "What do you mean leaving? I'm leaving tomorrow with Emily to see her family in Atlas remember? We've been planning this for a month," he asked completely confused, before his dad let out a sigh.

"I know you were looking forward to the trip, but I got these tickets from work. They had a prize thing and I happened to get them. I want to do something nice with you, just us. You're fifteen now and I only got a few years left before you grow up," the older wolf said in an almost sad tone. "You've grown up so much since I found you and I'm so proud," he said before giving Noah a strong hug that made the teen grunt before he returned the hug.

"Okay... I'll just have to tell Emily okay? So she won't waste time on trying to pick me up," Noah said before he went into his bedroom and dialed the ever familiar number, it rang for a half a second before he heard Em's voice.

"Noah? I just got home! Something happen?" she asked in a curious manner.

"I have to cancel on the Atlas trip... my dad got some tickets from work and wanted to spend the holidays with me... says he wants to spend as much time together before I graduate and stuff," Noah said in a mildly sarcastic tone, but he was smiling to himself, touched by his father's wishes. Emily gave him a cheerful laugh, seeing right through his sarcasm.

"That's so sweet Noah! I will miss you on the Atlas trip, but I hope you and your dad will have a good time!" she said, before sighing. "Any idea where you going?" she inquired, he just shrugged in response. He had neglected to ask where they were going honestly, but he was sure it would be interesting.

"I don't know... I haven't asked," he admitted and she laughed again.

"Oh well, you can tell me when you get there! But I still got a lot of packing to do so I'll talk to you later Noah! Bye!" she said before hanging up. Putting his phone away, he walked out to see his dad putting everything in the trunk of his car.

"You need help Dad?" he asked, causing his dad to jump and hit his head on the trunk and let out an innumerable amount of curse words, causing Noah to wince out a bit awkwardly before apologizing. His dad cursed for several moments with words that honestly made him blush and shocked that his usually straight-laced father knew them. Eventually his father stopped cursing and turned towards him, grimacing a bit while rubbing his sore head.

"I'm good son, everything's all packed and ready to go, just need you to get into the car." Noah just nodded and did as he was told, hearing the trunk slam closed before his dad also slid into the car and started the engine, pulling out of the garage. They drove in silence for at least several moments until they were driving towards the outskirts of the town when Noah decided to finally ask where they were going. His dad didn't really say anything, too focused on driving but handed him a pamphlet instead.

"Eldra? The City of Metal? Don't they have that massive Festival during Armistice Day? I always heard of it but never thought we would ever get to go. We are actually going out of the country?" Armistice Day was the day when the Great Seal War officially ended with the destruction of Eve, the last and most powerful of the infamous Puritans, whose destruction happened to result in the iconic crescent shape of the Crescentian Isles that the country got its namesake for. The Great Seal War was a climactic war that happened over 500 years ago. The end of the war resulted in the destruction of the mythical Seals, objects of power that were once used extensively. The only Seals that actually remained after the war were the Seals of the Elemental Lords, who happened to work for the massive world conglomerate MODD, running their military branch that replaced the national militaries of old, each Seal having their own city which was completely autonomous of the local National Government, where the ELs made their headquarters. His father nodded and smiled a bit at that.

"Yeah! Senetria is a beautiful country, the snow-capped mountains are beautiful this time of the year and Senre is a gorgeous city in and of itself, and one of the most technologically advanced city in all of Mortaelis," his dad explained. Noah gave his dad an odd look at that. He still didn't know much of his dad's past. Was he from there? Did he work there and did he have family? If so, why had Noah never met them? Was he disowned? So many questions he had, but he never had the courage to voice them. Instead, he asked something else to keep the conversation going, enjoying having such idle chat with his beloved father.

"Senre? Don't they have those massive walls? Weren't they used during the GSW?" Noah asked, remembering something he had learned during his World History class in school. His dad gave a quick nod before he spoke, still keeping his eyes on the road.

"Yes, the Great Walls of Senre are ancient and a marvel of pre-GSW technology," the man said with a large smile, before once again focusing on the road. Noah just smiled and let his eyes close, if they were going to another country, odds are they were heading for Vernati City which was a few hours away, so he figured that he could get a bit of rest before they got there, he never was one that could sleep on an airplane. With that, he felt himself drift off into sleep, wondering what all the two of them would do once they got there.

"Fuck, damn it!" a grumpy looking alsatian muttered as he continued to kick snow around in front of him. Even bundled up he was cold, but he didn't want to go back home just yet. He had been walking around ever since he got out of school, and if he could, he would have prefered not even going home if at all possible for the night... not that his parents would have noticed if he had or not. His mother was probably too busy whoring herself out for some meth or whatever and his dad was probably too drunk to notice much.

Not that he would have cared. His father had never made it a secret how much he loathed him, outright refusing to use his name even. But it didn't matter, he had plans... he was turning 16 in a few months and he had already sent applications to join the MODD military, he even forged his parents signatures, not that they would have cared honestly. A few more months and he was out of this hellhole and possibly make something of himself. He wouldn't fall to the same vices that his father did, he had no interest in booze, not after looking at what happened with his dad. But that still didn't change the fact he screwed up once again with Littlesea.

"I had a chance to wish him a happy holiday but no! I had to ruin it and act like a complete ass... why does he make me act like that?" the alsatian continued to mutter bitterly. "I just don't understand why I'm so obsessed with him." Ever since he met that damn wolf, he had become entranced by him. They were kids back then and he just seemed odd, but he couldn't keep his eyes off of him. "Maybe I can apologize to him." Jay mused to himself as he continued to plow through the snow. He wasn't too far from the wolf's house, so he could walk there to do so. With that in mind, he gave a deep breath and rushed towards the old house the wolf lived in. He ran past the creepy statue in front of Cross Keep and past the trail, but right before he could make the pass he ran right into a familiar leopard, causing them to careen into a large snow pile.

"What the hell Jay!" Emily shouted at him as she shoved him away from her into a neighboring snow pile. "What are you doing here? You live on the other side of town! What are you doing here?" Jay just looked down awkwardly, embarrassed at running into the leopard but managed to regain his cool somewhat.

"I... I... I wanted to talk with Littlesea..." Jay muttered in an almost shy manner. "I wanted to apologize to him for earlier. Just..." Emily interrupted him.

"Apologize? For borderline assaulting him? What was up with that?" she asked him kindly. "Why are you always so cruel to him? He has done nothing to you." Jay could only look down shamefaced, trying to ignore the cold that was seeping through his clothes from the snow. Cold, miserable and unloved, how fitting of him. Can't even be civil towards his... was Littlesea a crush? An obsession? Both? He wasn't sure honestly what his feelings were for the wolf. His silence seemed to have clicked something in Emily's head, causing her to gasp a bit, making him blush.

"You like him don't you! That's why you act like that?" she demanded seriously, before punching his arm hard, causing him to wince and cry out.

"Hey! What's that for!?" he demanded, rubbing his arm... he was a head or so taller than the leopard, her punch shouldn't hurt so damn much... Emily just glared at him and punched him again, causing him to yelp out in pain once more. "Stop that!" he said, before catching her paw before she could punch him again.

"You bullied him because you couldn't handle that you were gay!? Seriously!? How cliche are you?" she demanded almost angrily. "What the hell Jay?"

"Can you blame me!?" he shouted out angrily. "You know how my dad is! He already treats me like trash!" he cried out. "He has been a bastard to me ever since I was born! You and Littlesea would never understand that! You two have great dads and that pisses me off because it isn't fucking fair!" he shouted out as he pounded the snow with an angry fist. "He won't even use my NAME! Last thing I need is him figuring out that I'm a fucking faggot!" he snarled at her, feeling his eyes sting with tears which he quickly tried to wipe away.

"He'd probably kill me if he found out, wouldn't put it past him." he said sadly, while looking towards the snow. "I don't really have anyone Em, my parents are worthless and I don't really have any actual friends, so I doubt noone would really help me if I got kicked out." he said, staring down at the snow once again, not even bothering to hide his tears. He had been keeping all of his feelings bottled up to the point he couldn't even keep them in check anymore, just having someone to talk to about it made it come out in an endless stream.

"Jay..." Emily muttered, surprised by the outburst. "I had no idea how you felt... we used to be friends and we drifted apart."

"Yeah... after you got close to Littlesea we just drifted apart. That's part of the reason why I was so angry with him because I felt like he stole you from me..." Jay half-muttered awkwardly. "I was so confused about everything, especially when I started noticing that I liked other guys. Namely Littlesea himself." he said, getting up and brushing the snow off of his clothes and shivering. "But I should get home... also what were you doing out here? Heading to the market?" Emily just nodded and took his offered paw and brushed herself off.

"Yeah, had to get stuff for our trip tomorrow, we're going to Atlas! Noah was going, but he and his dad went somewhere for Armistice Day," she said, before walking away. "Oh," she paused, turning around to face him. "If you were nicer to him you might have a chance, when he gets back be nicer to him okay? You might be able to get into his pants then," she teased, before walking away towards the store, leaving him alone and blushing madly at her statement, feeling his pants tighten in his crotch. Shaking his head, Jay sighed and decided to make his way back home. Hopefully his dad was passed out drunk and his mom was hooking herself somewhere, he didn't feel like dealing with either of his parents today. Or well ever, but only a few more months and he could get out of here. Maybe by then he could talk to Littlesea without making an ass of himself.

As he was passing the barbershop, he felt something as if someone was staring at him, and turning towards the alley between them, he was hit in the face by a snowball, making him yelp at the cold and growled as he glared towards the dark alley before yet another snowball hit him in the face. Growling even more, he muttered darkly to himself. "Okay fucker that's enough," he said as yet another snowball flew from the alley, hitting him yet again in the face. "Okay fuck it!" he shouted out, rushing into the alley, only to be surprised to find it was empty. "What the fuck?" he muttered out, confused as he looked around the small narrow alley. "Okay... what the hell is going on."

"It's good to meet you James Dawson I've been watching for a long time, nice to meet you." Jay jumped and turned towards where he heard the voice, and he saw a tall armored figure standing there. This startled him, he was positive that this guy wasn't there a few minutes go.

"Who the fuck are you?" he shouted out, getting into a defensive stance. "And what do you mean you have been watching me? You some sort of pedophile stalker you creep?" he snarled out. The figure just chuckled before waving his paw as if to dismiss his concerns.

"No, I haven't been stalking you... at least in the sense you mean. But I know all about you," the man said, his bright blue eyes shining underneath the darkness of his helm. The darkness had to be unnatural, Jay figured, as he looked towards the mysterious (and creepy) stranger. He should have been able see the man's (he assumed it was a man he sounded male and his build looked masculine, so he would go with male) face. He stepped back a bit and began to shuffle in discomfort, this was very uncomfortable and surreal to him. Who the hell was this weirdo and why was he stalking him?

"What do you mean you know all about me?" Jay snarled out in an attempt to be intimidating, but he was a realist, it was doubtful this man would be intimidated by a random fifteen year old Alsatian.

"I know James, for example that you stole a piece of candy when you were eight. You started football on a whim. Your father has never used your name since you were born. You plan on joining the MDF as soon as you turn sixteen and you forged your parents signature. You also have had a near obsessive crush on Noah Littlesea since the day you met him. You act like a bully because you are afraid of your father finding out about your homosexuality," the man said, looking directly into Jay's eyes, making him shiver and wince again. "Things are changing James, you will see soon. I will be leaving you now, James, but I have a feeling we will see each other again soon." With that the man disappeared into thin-air. That made Jay give a startled yelp, he had not expected that to happen and he grasped his heart.

"What the fuck?" was all he could mutter out while looking around franticly, trying to find where the mysterious man went. No way had he just vanished like a ghost. "Well, that was weird..." he muttered blandly, shaking his head. "I need to get home... it's late." he said with a miserable sigh. He then started on his own path home once more, today was a really weird day.

Noah stood silent, the world was burning around him in a hellish nightmare of a scene. He heard screams, yells and moans. He couldn't tell where he was but he was in a large city, a city that must have been at one time beautiful, but now was a ruined mess. In front of him was a massive metal-coated serpent being glaring down, surrounded by numerous robot-like monsters. The monster was just about to attack him...

Noah gave a loud yelp as he felt his body being jerked forward by gravity. He had just woken up from some nightmare. It was awful and he had the weirdest suspicion that it wasn't just a nightmare. What was that monster? "Well, glad you finally decided to join the world of the living again son!" he heard a familiar happy voice say. "We're at the airport! Get your bags and we will get them checked in." his dad said as he got out of the car. Noah just nodded as he got his bags. He knew they had a several hour flight ahead of them, he was just glad he had brought his game system. He couldn't wait to get to their destination!
