I woke in a cold damp room, my eyes adjusting to the light pouring in from above. The ground was hard and rough on my webbed feet, it was concrete or stone, the cold floor sent a chill through my body and I realised that I had been stripped of my clothes. Looking around I ruffled my feathers, I was in a huge circular stone room with massive curved walls and a dome about three storeys high, a central round hole letting in what I thought to be a beam of daylight. The floor was curved so that a ring of dark shimmering water circled a central island of stone, which was underneath the opening in the ceiling.

Maybe it was rainwater from outside? _I thought to myself, then my eyes wandered to the water now that they had adjusted to the darkness. _The murky black depths are unknown and I cannot trust the water, my breathing increased slightly as I realised that I was on a slope around the waters side, cautioning myself I stepped up slowly and turned to the rooms flat outer perimeter. I noticed a vague black doorway just barely distinguishable against the dark.

A loud bang of stone radiated from the centre and echoed around the room, the sound blasting through my body from the still silence, falling on my side and looking back, my heart in my throat. A figure slowly stood tall from the impact, dust and darkness blocking it's shape only a dim shadow from the light above, it started moving towards me. I couldn't wait and find out who or what it was so I decide to run, I turned and leaped away trying to find rhythm in my footing so as not to trip, not looking back and concentrating on getting away. The sound of heavy footsteps behind me now, which cause a small panic but I use the fear and adrenalin to sprint faster, I see a corner ahead in the remaining light, then it reveals itself as several different routes. I choose quick in an attempt to outmanoeuvre my peruser and take the sharpest turn on my right. I slam into the wall with my momentum, sidelining it as I push myself onward giving me chance to look back and catch a glimpse of what is chasing me. The reptilian loses grip on the floor as he slides down the hall, a clawed hand narrowly missing my flank as it reaches out and grabs the corner of the wall and pulls himself toward me. I find my footing again and try to run with a slight limp throwing myself forward to increase the distance between us.

"This hallway is even darker than before!" I mutter to myself but I keep running and try to stay alive, the raptor back on my tail with loud steps and breathing. I need to do something, I think, trying to keep my breath and conscience clear as my stamina slowly runs out.

Another story, Mascratte: After skinning gryphon.

"You are stronger now having experienced such pain, how?" "Well the pain opens up parts of your soul, as your body is tormented you gain strength and experience. Most importantly you evolve and learn knowledge from the pain and terror that otherwise you would never understand if not experienced.

"The hawk that skinned you isn't your foe, but actually your friend?" "During the torture i begged and pleaded him to stop. I wasn't strong enough to take the pain or to influence his choice. i gave into the terror. I cried to him to resolve this another way. It hurt so much i cant describe it. As he pulled at my coat, blade deep under my skin. He didnt look at my eyes no matter how hard i tried, my eyes kept rolling back. I understand how much my actions offended him, how all he wanted was that tone in my scream to meet his standard of justice as he tugged my coat off my back."
