The Dawn will Come.

Sorry guys, been a very VERY long time since I posted anything but felt this needed to be shared. This story is based on a game I've been planning which is a combination of World of Darkness and Exalted. It's been a while since I wrote anything because I've been experiencing some mental health issues and went through A LOT of Bullshit lately, but wrote this as a sort of way to try and lift my own spirits. The Song was composed by Trevor Morris for Dragon Age: Inquisition and are copyright to Bioware and/or Electronic Arts.

Chicago has seen better days. Especially with the massive Black Spiral Dancer invasion that has taken place over the previous three days. It was left to one singular Sept the garou had left in the city. Just on the edge of the city, a small warehouse housed a number of kinfolk from all over the city. The door was bared and locked the best they could. They huddled around the fire, the only form of warmth or comfort from the invading forces just outside. The hopes had left their eyes as they all stared blankly at the flame. One garou stood amongst them, A Shadowlord by the name "Nightingale's Requiem" a young female Galliard just becoming Rank 2 amongst her people. The hope seemed drained from her own face as she clutched her freshly carved Klaive at her side, preparing for one final fight at any moment. Little did she know, a little girl with black flowing hair came over to her to grasp onto her free hand.

"Sister Nightingale? Do you not have a song for us? Perhaps... something happy?"

The young garou couldn't help but feel sorry for the little girl, taking that free hand and kneeling forward to caress the young one's cheek. "I'm sorry little Yina... I have none.."

She could feel the soft tear slowly fall onto her hand as the little girl sobbed softly. It was tough to tell her this, but this might be their final stand. She clasped the young child into her arms and held her tightly, as if giving her one final embrace. Suddenly, a movement came from beside her that she never noticed before. A strange figure, a woman she never saw before, came from the corner of the room and stood amongst the other kinfolk. She was garbed in head to toe in robes, even her face was covered with a hijab as though she were from the middle east. She figured the woman was a Strider kin who got stuck in this war, until she noticed the strange tattoo on her hand, the mark of Saturn.

"I've one... it's an old song, passed by many of my kind." she spoke softly. "And I can teach you..."

Meanwhile, just outside of the warehouse, a lone man was doubled over in pain and covered in blood stood before a small group of Dancers. All five surrounded the well endowed man as he panted heavily, scraping up the earth into his fist as he tried desperately to muster the rage to change, knowing full well he was now beyond that age. He could only hear a mocking laugh as he heard the heavy padding of a Crinos form approach.

"Funny little kin, trying to rage..." the wolf said mockingly as he places a familiar blade under his chin, The very grand klaive of his father.

"F... FATHER!" he screamed loudly as he tried to grab the blade back only for it to be pulled away.

The wicked garou plants the weapon in front of him only to grab him by the neck to pick him up and stare eye to eye with the twisted being who killed his fellow tribesman.

"Your daddy can't hear ya anymore kid, on account of his head being apart from his body," he laughed at the man with thick hot breath hitting the man's face. He tossed him back to the ground and smirked "Keep quiet and lay there, be a good boy and we may consider you as viable breeding stock..."

As the other garou followed their leader towards the warehouse, the man shivered angrily. He tried desperately to muster the energy to fight back. He curled up gently as he slowly began to lose hope until he heard something faint, something low but from nearby.

"Shadows fall and hope is fled. Steel your heart, the dawn will come..."

His head slowly lifted up, seeing the blade of his father, originally forged and passed down for generations of his Shadow Lord ancestors. He slowly began to crawl towards the blade, feeling a strange burning sensation within him.

"The night is long and the path is dark. Look to the sky for one day soon the dawn will come..."

The burn from inside began to grow, was this the rage he long sought to allow him to change? Was it possible for him to still change at such an advanced age? He felt his wounds start to close up, the burning turned slowly into a warm sensation, as though a new strange power overcame him.

"The Shepherd's lost and his home is far. Keep to the sky the dawn will come."

He slowly stands up. YES! This was it! He felt his strength slowly come back to him. He knew what this feeling was now. It was determination, perseverance. He was needed, his family was inside that warehouse, he vowed to protect them! He grabbed the sword as tears slowly began to flow from his eyes as he held the handle tightly.

"The night is long and the path is dark. Look to the sky for one day soon the dawn will come."

That music. It grew in loudness, but it only seemed he could only hear it. The other garou seemed oblivious to it!

"Bare your blade and raise it high!"

He bares his teeth and screamed loudly as he pulled the blade from the ground, causing the Black Spiral Dancers to slowly turn around.

"Stand your ground, The dawn will come."

Back inside, as the young woman sang, a sudden bright light surges through the warehouse windows. The sudden flash caused everyone else inside to flinch in fright, not knowing what the cause was, but the robed lady continued the song when no one else would.

"The night is long and the path is dark. Look to the sky for one day soon..."

She then stood up and walked to the barred front doors slowly. Nightingale's Requiem suddenly sprinted and grabbed the young woman's hand, as though to stop her. The woman simply dropped her head cover with a loving smile. She was young looking, with sand colored skin and dark hair. It was obvious she was of middle eastern descent. She then showed the mark on her hand as a show of faith. The young garou let go suddenly to allow the strange woman to open the door. She then reveals the Black Spiral Dancers had been slain outright, with one figure standing above them. His form had a blazing aura of golden glory before her. Nightingale could only fall to her knees as she bore witness to what her elder brother had become, baring a sunburst icon upon his forehead.

"The dawn will come...."
