I had showered and dressed. I listened to the gentle rush of hot water while Snow showered and cleaned up. I had donned a pair of silken pyajama bottoms done in dark blue, and a matching tank top. I'd left Snow his blue boxers and a T-shirt he could wear for bed. Something told me we'd be sharing a bedroom from now on. I told Snow I needed to see what Donovan had done about Nico and the tigers. He'd asked I waited for him. It was not the want of a love slave, but a favour asked by a man who had no idea how to navigate the enormous penthouse he'd inadvertedly moved into. I sat at the bottom of the bed, listening to the man I was now bound to shower and clean up. I'd never anticipated that anything like this could have happened to me, but deep down I was cool with it, cool with loving this stranger. The rushing water stopped and I heard the tiger towel off, he opened the door and took a step into the bedroom. He was nude, the towel rubbing across his head fur. I blushed. He caught me looking and grinned, a playful grin between lovers. That was what we were now. He walked around the bed, watching me watch him walk, before he tossed the towel on the bedroom floor and began dressing. When he was all set and dressed. He offered his hand to me.
"You wanted to go speak with Donovan?" he asked.
I smiled up at him and nodded. I took his hand and together we went to find the man in question.
I heard the sound of arguing come from the kitchen when we neared the lounge. I lead Snow into the tiled room, and found Donovan was on the phone with someone. I caught the end of the conversation.
"You are acting like an imbecile, Nico! A downright imbecile!" he slammed the phone down as he growled and turned, looking at me with wide eyes.
"Something wrong?" I asked.
"I see you two finalised the binding then?" he asked with a welcome smile.
Snow nodded, and I blushed again. Damn me and my sensitivities.
I took a deep breath and focused on business. "Was that Nico on the phone?" I asked.
Donovan nodded and walked to the kitchen countertops, he smoothed a hand along the cool tiled surface and then said, "He refuses to acknowledge both Snow and our massacre issues."
"Did you mention that we might have had an eighth massacre had we not stopped Snow?" I demanded, anger flushed me now, not embarressment.
"He believes the massacres and the fact wereanimals are involved is simply bad sponsorship, and not a problem."
"So he thinks these wereanimals are newborns and not being cared for proper?" I asked.
"Without a proper sponsor the first transformation can lead to violence," Donovan replied.
"But a full moon is needed for the first transformation to even begin. The last incident took place in the middle of the day two weeks ago."
Donovan nodded. "He is doing what most wereanimal alphas are doing. He is feigning ignorance and hoping the problem will disappear in time."
I considered the possibilities and then said, "Perhaps it will."
"What do you mean?" Snow asked, he walked passed me and took a seat at a large wooden dining table.
"Well the last one to almost go on a rampage was stopped. You were stopped."
"So you think it was like a chain reaction?" Snow replied with a raised brow.
Donovan considered Snow for a moment. "You have no recollection of what happened to drive you insane?"
Snow shook his head. "The first thing I remember is gazing at Eben and feeling like someone had pumped me full of lead somewhere down the line."
"Like waking up from a bad hangover," I murmured. Snow nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, something like that."
"The best we can do now is wait and see if another is maddened, see if someone else looses control and rampages," Donovan said.
"And what of Nico?" Snow asked. "He sounds like a polite, well-rounded person, by the way." He smiled as he spoke. I smiled but Donovan did not.
"Nico is being absurd, he believes we are overreacting, and has even questioned my own sanity. It is he who has lost it. He hopes the problem will bypass us all, but it won't!"
"Then do we do what Nirvana proposed? Leave the tigers for last when it comes to recruiting the animal groups?" I asked.
Donovan considered it and then agreed. "Bolstering our defenses is the best possible thing at the moment."
I looked at Donovan and asked, "What's our next step then?"
"Our next step is something only the two of us can do." He looked at me, determination there, but also a glimmer of compassion.
"What did you have in mind?"
"You are Lupine, the alpha female wolf that would match my alpha male. Regardless of gender, our unison would bolster our standing as a pack. Without a mate, I am considered weak. But I would not ask you to do this unless you are one hundred percent comfortable with it."
"What are we talking here, Donovan? Fuck buddies with a title above it? Or something more?" I looked intent now.
"I would make it more of a relationship, but I would never do that if it would harm your newest conquest," he replied as he gazed at Snow now.
Snow looked confused. "What are you asking?"
"I'm asking your permission to bind Eben as you have bound him."
"Do I get a say in this?" I asked, smiling.
Snow grinned and said, "I don't mind sharing, so long as it doesn't harm the bond me and Eben share."
I almost staggered. "Just like that?" I asked.
"Eben," he stood and walked to me, his hands found mine as he gazed down at me. "You and Donovan have a history with one another, a happy one, one that has never flourished for whatever reason. I woke in the depths of Hell and had no idea what was happening to me. You helped me and gave me somewhere to call home. I could have been a murderer, an insane madman, but you bound me and kept me, you showed true love for me regardless of where it blossomed from. Sharing you with another man who has such strong feelings for you would be an ideal method of thanks to both you and Reed. As I said, so long as it doesn't harm our bond, I have no issue."
"Will it damage our bond? What if it erases the bond we share and replaces it?" I asked. I could feel tears burn behind my eyes. Did I want our bond erased? Hell no!
"A binding is a phenomenon that cannot be erased. There are alpha females who bind themselves to more than one alpha, including the pack leader." Donovan ran a hand through his head fur.
"The bond would bolster the pack, and having that standing would help us involve other groups in our plans later on." I smiled across at Donovan and said, "But can it wait until the morning."
"Sounds like a plan, but why wait?" Donovan asked.
I blushed and confessed, "Snow is not...as small as your average weretiger."
Donovan went red a little, but Snow just grinned. Donovan coughed and said, "Then I propose we sleep together?"
I looked a question at him.
"Snow was right, Eben. I have had feelings for you for sometime now, but have been unable to act upon them. If I could have bound you without Snow's help then I'd have done it a long time ago."
"What are you saying, Donovan?" I asked.
"I'm saying that I really, really like you, Eben. But my role as pack leader was needed, more so than my own selfish desires."
"I can understand the need to be pack leader, but slept together during the full moons. That wasn't enough?"
"Not for me. You were right, deep down we all want a relationship with someone special. And if Snow is willing to share, then so am I." He looked at the feline and the two exchanged a look of understanding. It sounded odd, but in their own ways both males loved me, and I adored them. This could have spun into something of hatred and jealousy, but instead everyone liked everyone. It couldn't have gone better. In the wild real wolves had numerous partners, mates who they would sleep with. Whether it was about love or just sex was between the real wolves themselves, but the three of us could be something magical, romantic and powerful for our brethren in the pack. So what if Snow was not a wolf. So what if the other animal groups thought us weak for letting a tiger walk amongst us. We already had the lions on side as well.
I held out a hand, and Donovan slid his fingers between mine. He gazed down at me with those heavy-lidded, pale green eyes. There was a passion there, a heat that I'd only seen in his eyes during sex. But this was about more than simply fucking now. This was about being together, holding hands, kissing in and around the penthouse apart from the bedroom. This was about being a good alpha couple for our animal group. Donovan held my hand in his, a warmth flickered and I recognised that flame all too well. Would this always happen when I bound myself to another alpha? I did not know, and would not know. I wanted Donovan to be the last man I bound myself to. Being a member of a constant threesome was one thing, but being bound to numerous male alphas sounded like a bad idea. Donovan stood before me, looking down at me with those compassionate eyes, he leaned in and brushed those full, beautiful lips against mine. Snow came and stood behind us, the line of his warm body pressed against mine and he slid one arm around my waist and the other draped over my shoulder and touched Donovan's. He let his fingers knead and play along Donovan's shoulder as the two exchanged a look over me. Bed. We all needed sleep, and then tomorrow we'd do what was best for our pack.
And when I said "our", I meant all three of us.
