Part 6: Recovering the Past
"God dammit! Stupid door!" Rick growled out as he bent lower to squeeze himself into the bunker he had escaped from weeks ago. An initial bout of past fear startled himself slightly, causing him to whack his head into the metal door, rubbing that spot with his hand as he stretched and flexed that massive body of his to get back inside the dark underground base.
With his last bit of growth, it was getting a tad harder to move around normal sized structures. Luckily Jacobstown was still large enough for him, though the atmosphere was abit...tense...after he came back and told his story to Marcus about what happened with the Gecko. Marcus understood, but he occassionally got looks from the other Super Mutants and Nightkin who didn't like that he was even bigger now, but it wasn't like they could do anything about it.
He had forgone most of the clothing he wore before, losing the added armor of plating around his chest and legs, for just a pair of Brahmin leather shorts that hugged his muscles very tight. Using some stretchy cord to hold the parts of the pants together, allowing for full moment without tearing if he bulged out his muscles too much or a growth spurt hit him again. Certainly not a problem he minded anymore, having become very comfortable with his body, liking to show it off, knowing he was the biggest thing around.
Though right now, size wasn't helping him much as he moved through the small hallways, crouched over, body rubbing along metal with his flashlight in hand that he kept stored in a handmade bag out of Bighorn hide to help carry anything he came across. He came across what were the remains of a few animals that maybe the victims of the Gecko he had fought earlier, but a chill went up his spine as he came into the main medical room. The table was still there, restraints busted, room tossed and turned, along with the decaying corpse of the doctor that had transformed him.
Rick let out a snarl as he passed by him, looking for any left over containers of the mutant serum that was the cause of his changes and of the Gecko's, finding the spilled bottle the Gecko had gotten into and some others he had destroyed upong it's rampage from growing. Most were destroyed, but in the back of the boxes were a half dozen still intact, containing the liquid that could turn pitiful creatures into powerful monsters. He clenched it tight and started to put the bottles into his bag, each one wrapped with fur to help keep them safe as he sighed in relief, not finding anything else of value to him.
A final survey of the small bunker ended his searching and he let out a snort as he hoped that nothing else had gotten into the vials. He hadn't heard of anything, but with the place such a mess, he couldn't tell if it was just the Gecko that had disturbed things here or if there was more. He'd hate to see a Deathclaw change or maybe even worse, a human who could utilize the power for their own means to an end.
Eventually, Rick stepped out into the sunlight across the warm desert landscape, squinting his eyes as he looked out onto the horizon. He wasn't sure what he was going to do with the bottles of fluid he held clunched in one arm, though secretly he hoped that maybe with the vials, he could have a companion of similar size, but the thought of using some more of the liquid to grow bigger lingered in the back of his mind. For now though, he would find a safe spot to hide them till he decided on what he would eventually do with the stuff.
