Chapter 10 His Other Daughter

The pridelands were unusually silent as a storm of great magnitude bore down on its inhabitants. The thunderheads, ominous, now cracked with immense energy. The inner formations visible for an instant as blinding light shot through its depths. All beasts large and small were in hiding. Except the King.

Simba sat at the end of pride rock surveying the storm's progression. The only thing that moved was his head and tail tuft which jumped around on the ground showing his agitation. He stared into the south willing his daughter to return to him. Worry and doupt rolled in his stomach as he considered the wisdom of having sent his daughter into what could very well have been a death trap. She had insisted on going and he knew he could not send help or go himself Kiara had been adamant on going alone to further prove that she could be trusted and relied upon in the most critical situations. They both knew that had it been Nala, the king would not have hesitated to send her. So Kiara had been right in the double standard and coddling of her father. But Simba couldn't help it. Even if his mind told him a thousand times that Kiara was just as capable, he couldn't help being terrified at the thought of having to face Nala with the death of a second child. Now more than ever, the image of his son laying in the grass seemed to burn in his mind as a warning of how quick death could come. But all he could do was wait. Or betray Kiara and go after her or send help.

Behind the king, at the mouth of the cavern stood Delila. Being the daughter of Sarabi and Simba she was not much older then Kiara. The only major difference was her darker tail tuft that she had inherited from her mother. She was part of the first generation of cubs to be sired by him. She looked out at the king and understood the complexity of the situation having been privy to the argument among the royal family members. While she may be the daughter of a former queen, it did not give her any more standing than any of the other members of the pride. She preferred it that way. She noticed how the other members of the pride treated her as equals while shunning Kiara from normal conversations and interactions. In a way, being a member of the royal family made it difficult to properly mingle with the rest of the pride.

But this was not the current problem. The real problem was Delila's disappointment at the situation. She had gone into heat herself that morning and had planned on spending it with her father and Kiara. But with the storm threatening to soak everyone to the bone and Kiara and her Mother missing, it was not quite the romantic evening she had envisioned. She also knew better than to try to approach the older male now for his services. But still, she burned with desire. Her heart beat quick, she looked at her father's silhouette. How she wanted him to turn around and approach her. To come up behind her and tower over her. Delila couldn't help it, she was working herself into a state by watching him and not being able to go to him. With a great effort, she turned away. It would be a mistake to try to seduce him when he was so agitated...It wasn't fair for her. She thought about maybe trying to slip away with Kiango or his brother. Kiango was at the back of the cave currently playing with a few of the cubs. 2 cubs hung from his developing mane while he playfully batted at a third on the ground. It was an endearing sight. His chest had thickened to that of a fully grown male in the recent months. His limbs and loins still retained youthful proportions however. With his mane not mature, she could not bring herself to give herself up to him. He'd become a handsome male soon. As big and strong as their father. But, for now, he was still developing. Just comparing the differences in the size of his and his father's equipment made that clear.

But that was not an option. It was forbidden to let any other male breed her without the King's permission unless they were to both leave the pride together. That was not happening with this looming storm. Besides, she didn't really even want him. Like Kiara, Delilah wanted her father. She shuddered at the thought of creeping up behind him and taking a deep pull on his loose sack. Their contense moving under her tounge with what was needed to satisfy her burning heat. She didn't care if he took her right infront of everyone else. In fact, their was some perverse pleasure at that thought. If only he wasn't consumed with the fate of their mother and his other daughter. He could be raking his barbs through her that very moment.

So what was a solution? She couldn't stay here with her father's scent and presence driving her mad, or approach him in his current state. If only Kiara and her mother returned. Then she could have him. She looked out to the south. There was no signs of their return. Just the gray lands under the thunderheads. But then a thought occurred to her. What if she were to go after Kiara and her Mother herself. If she just left without the others noticing, then she would be in trouble for disobeying the lock down. But then, she could find and assist Kiara without her thinking her father had sent her. She'd be in trouble when they returned, yet it was the only course of action she could see that would solve all their dilemmas. So with her mind made up, she crept out of the corner of the mouth of the cave and made the descent to the ground as fast as she could. As soon as she hit the ground she took off for the south. Running all out she knew her father would see her leave, but this was her decision and he would not follow.

Within a few minutes of running through the flat planes she saw a ripple in the distance. Like a single line it seemed to shimmer on the ground. She was running toward it and it moved in a diagonal direction. When she saw it pass a few trees, the foliage on the trees seem to rip right off by the force. Delila now understood. It was a line of strong winds and she would hit them in a few seconds. Like a physical blow, she staggered sideways as the gale blew past her. Keeping her eyes shut, debris and other dangerous objects assailed her. How was she to search for Kiara and her Mother in this. She could barely see. But she had to keep going. So Delila continued on. Pressing her head down she crawled forward. Willing the winds to give her some respit. She knew she must be close to the gorge.

Fighting her way through the gale it didn't take long for the haze of splattering rain to join in the misery. Still Delila pressed on. She was soaked to the bone and the only positive side to the situation she had placed herself in was that her heat was soon forgotten as her instinct shifted to self preservation rather than copulation. Visability was almost zero in the hammering rain. But she was on a mission and began to call out for her mother and Kiara. She was surprised when she heard a muffled reply. Following the voice, the blurred shape of a lion sized figure came into view. As she fought her way to it, a bolt of lightning illuminated the scene before her. Standing in front of her, tearing at a tree, was Kiara. Pinned in a cage of branches was her mother and another older lioness. The tree had fallen trapping them in its branches next to a rising river. Zazu was on the ground fighting to not be tossed into the air by the gale of howling winds. Now Delila understood why Kiara had not come back for help. She was working away at a large branch with her claws and teeth. If she could break the limb off then that would create a big enough gap for the older lionesses to slip out of. If she left to get help, there was no guarantee she could find the same spot in this storm and with the rising water level, it was a race against time. Already her mother and Secra were standing in water. With the storm surge that was sweeping into the area, they would drown quickly.

Rushing in, Delila began to use her own claws and teeth to assist the tired Princess. No words were spoken between them as they worked quickly to dig through the wood. By the time they worked through three quarters of the wood the storm surge had risen to their chests. Calling for Kiara to stop digging at the wood, Delila put her front paws into the weak section and pushed. Taking the cue, Kiara joined her. With their efforts combined the wood cracked and began to shift. Again and again they put their weight against it and it began to budge slowly creating an opening. As soon as the opening was big enough, they stepped aside for their mother and Secra to squeeze through. They had done it. After both parties embraced with relief and gratitude Kiara asked Delila why she had come. Before she could answer, Sarabi insisted that they start making their way back to Pride Rock as they were not out of danger yet. Gently grabbing Zazu in her mouth, Sarabi began to lead the way back through the pouring rain towards Pride rock.

On their walk back, Delila told Kiara she had disobeyed their father to come for her mother. While Kiara was relieved to have her there, she had thought that her father broke his promise to her. But she had to admit.. without Delila, Sarabi and Secra would be taking their lasts breaths right about now. Delila had come just in time, and she couldn't have rescued them alone. Kiara owed Delila the two lionesses lives. And she would not forget it. Sarabi having the most experience with the land, was able to get them back to Pride Rock despite almost zero visibility rain. The fork of lightning showed them the formation towering before them. They're claws slipping on the wet surfaces of the ramp they made their way up and was intercepted by the king halfway up the ramp. To say that their father was overjoyed at seeing them was an understatement. After assessing for injuries and safety, he beckoned them into the warmth of the cave.

As Delila shook off the rain from her coat she watched the king embrace his daughter and mother. It was a touching scene. But then he turned his head down torwards her and she found herself sweeping her ears back and laying down under his stern gaze. With all the other lioness around, she knew she would have to answer for her disobedience. But before either could utter a word, Kiara stepped in between them. Looking her father in the eyes, she began to recount the scene Delila happened upon. She spoke of how even with Zazu's help, it had taken a while for them to locate Sarabi and Secra. Due to the tree branches obscuring his sight. They had chance upon them after extensively searching the area. Kiara had tried multiple ways of freeing them, but her strength just wasn't enough. Zazu could not fly back for help as the wind had rendered him earth bound. So Delila's appearance had been the difference between life and death.

Kiara knew her father and after recounting the tale with all lioness present and listening, she gave her father a soft full bodied rub and asked him to pardon Delila. His response was quick. Addressing Delila, he reminded her that the normal course of action for her transgression was banishment from the pride. However, due to the appeal from the other parties involved, she was formally pardoned but warned to never violate his orders again. Then he gently pushed his head into both his daughter's, showing them his gratitude at their presence and safety. In the excitement of the evenings events, the king had not even noticed Delila's Heat. He assumed he was smelling Kiara. Besides, even if he had noticed the difference in his daughter, he was too drained from the day's events to do much. Bidding everyone good night, he settled on his raised dais where he was greeted with Nala's swollen sides as a comfortable pillow and promptly fell asleep. Kiara too was beyond drained. A lot had happened that day. Between the excertion of the mornings hunt, her efforts to keep her uterus full of her father's seed, the rolling emotions of the afternoon to the rescue of a lifetime, all she could do was plop down on her own resting space before falling into a deep slumber.

Delila however found herself staring in frustration at the king she had hoped would be willing to break in a new lioness in heat that evening. But then again, she was just lucky to not having been banished. What was one more evening of celibacy. Resigning herself to a restless night, she curled up with her mother whom seemed to sense her daughter's disappointment. "You'll get him tomarrow morning dear" She whispered to her daughter. "Besides, his morning loads are the most satisfying... It's a shame his father isn't around as well. You would have loved how he had a thing for remaining hilted well after he came. He use to say it was to make sure as much of it stayed in. He hated seeing any leakage." Delila blushed at her mother's graphic description. "Not helping mom. " she whispered back. Sarabi chuckled. "You just saved me, and Secra. Kiara owes you. I don't think she will begrudge you some time with your father tomarrow morning. " Leaning into her daughter's ear, she whispered "The morning you were concieved, he took his own mother in front of the whole pride while Nala nursed his throbbing orbs as they filled me." "Mother!" Delila exclaimed in a wisper as the older lioness hooted with amusement. She was beyond mortified and yet incredibly turned on at the graphic image. The other lionesses were giving them reproachful glances as they disturb the quiet of the late evening. So shortly after everyone settled in. The only sounds was the torrential downpour interrupted by booms of thunder.
