Lothing, Wanting, Waiting . . .

by Alexander "WolfmanXX" Gabriel Clark

Intro

Crunch, crunch. The metal plated boots trudged thought the snow, one heavy step at a time. I look into the sky staring into the beauty of the northern lights. Amazing. My face was warmed by the fur covering my face, but the steel collar around my face acted like a refrigerator. I knew I was in for a long night. The frozen waste land continued on and on forever; never ending in the distance. The sword hung on my back that I created before I left the hell hole called home. I only dreamed of when I'd see the town of Nome, Alaska. I think I only went into another hell hole, except colder. I will stride on.

. . .

In the town, a high sun melted the veil of white off the roofs and steps of old wooden buildings. People roamed the street, going from store to store. Hunters with rifles, bows and arctic parkas roasted in the blazing heat of the sun, only to freeze in the coolness of the shade. With a glancing thought, if the people of the town are totting guns and other weaponry, I'd fit right in. I took a second thought, however. The 40 mm gauss canister rifle I hold is bigger and longer than the 50 caliber bolt actions the other hunters brandished, but it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

The metal of my armor became colder, but my limbs were sweating like nothing else. What a pain in the ass. The people just passed by me, as if I was nothing. I felt hurt, being ignored by these . . . people. Continuing down the street of powder and gravel, the sun started to set, slowly through the sky. Night fall was coming, and it's going to be long. I spotted a hostel next to the clinic. I asked for a full five months, just to have an extra month if I don't find her.

In the room, I undressed, fully. I was burning up under the leather and metal oven, having that on top of fur just made it worse. The floor boards creaked every step I made. This wasn't a top notch hotel, but at least it was somewhere to sleep. I sat on the decrepit matrices that groaned at the weight that I set upon the solid steel bars. It was a Brand new bed. Looking at the duel pistols I brought, I thought I have no idea why I brought these, but something told me they were going to be of prior use to the search. In between thoughts, the wall snapped and clicked at the bitter wind that blew across the horizon. Looking outside, from the pitch black room, I stared out to the zero-degree desert. It wasn't the snow that I stared at, nor the gusts and clouds that blew across the icy streets like wisps of torn silk through clear water. Not even the deer that tried to plummet through the cold and powder, a doe left behind from the safety of the group. It was the lights that caught my eye. The multi colored entity that exists only in the most northern parts of the world, a scientific phenomenon that for certain people, the logic exists only through the natural power or mother nature. Waiting years to see this extravagance, only made me think of what I was looking for.

I will find her

Ticket to Russia, do I need a ticket to Russia? I thought about the journey they took to get to a place with food. Her and her family took that journey, but should I go by vehicle, or foot. Decisions, decisions, thinking to myself I try to imagine the path they strode the difficulties they could have had, the hardships they had to bare. In that moment I seemed to drift into a trance, thinking of all the things that could have gone wrong, the anger inside me started to fester like a barrage of shotgun pellets. I kept quiet, thinking of the positive thoughts, the thoughts that calm my inner rage, slowly like a bucket of water on a freshly used oven top, the smoke cleared my thoughts, and at that moment, I chose to walk in their footsteps. I had to know what they went through. The hardships, the challenges; I also think it's one less thing to complain about on the way there. Busses, trains, airplanes, all crowded with human stench. I couldn't bare that.

I gathered my things. I clipped in the leg pieces and arm guards, boots and paldrons, cod piece, and chest guard, the leather and Kevlar jacket draped over the metal, the paldron on the outside of my jacket shoulder. Clipping the massive 20 mm duel guns to my hips, I heard the door open behind me. "This is your last day, good luck finding what you're looking for. I hope some ones praying for you." I looked over to the landlord. "If there is a god, he'll try everything to stop me. Its best that my presence is unknown." The land lord just looked at me, as if I was some lunatic, he wasn't to far off. He closed the door, shaking his head as he left the room entrance. If god finds out what I'm doing, he will consider me a heretic.

The city seems barren now, not a canine in sight. The city was busy with pedestrians. It was summer, though it was thirty two degrees, it still felt to warm. Especially under the many layers I wear. Of course, as soon as I imagine the word canine, I see a black and white husky roaming the outer lands, furiously sniffing the ground, grunting and cursing.

Yes, cursing. My lovely gift.

"Where are you, I KNOW YOU'RE HERE!" the husky exclaimed through tightened fangs, Dull fangs at that

He snapped over to me, his pupils were small, blue eyes, filled with lust, fear behind the veil.

"What the hell is he looking at" he grumbled under his breath. I just stood there staring at him. At that point a sound came from a rock, another husky, reddish, with a white belly and a orange-red scarf. The black and white husky turned to the female as he rushed towards her. She yelled Get away as he edged closer, he was aroused. She became pined to the ground tears in her eyes, a husky crying. As he spread her legs and began to hump, he realized his nuts and bolt were long gone,a crack finally broke the silence, and he shifted his glare to the 20 mm barrel, smoke rising from the flying shell.

"Thank you for the save, i was sure he had me" the red husky said, but my attention seemed strayed. In that matter of light I managed to grin and nod. "Of course," i said with a soft voice. She looked at me and questions began to swim in her eyes.

"You seem like a nice fellow, doesn't explain the talking."

"What do you mean?"

"Dogs can't talk to humans, remember."

"That's why I usually keep it low profile, just in case."

"Seems like the best idea."

"Has that happened to you often?"

"Has what?" she asked with a bit of discouragement.

"Have . . . there usually been attempted rapes . . . ?"

"Against me, Ya. This is the first that almost succeeded."

I stopped in my tracks. "By what do you mean almost." looking back, she grinned under her raged fur, "Don't worry, they haven't gotten to me yet." With reassurance, we continued on.

We started to leave the town and journeyed a little ways out on the shore line. "Where are we headed?" She seemed like she didn't hear me, but then she answered, "To see some one. . . I haven't seen him for a while." The armor seemed to cool down the closer we got to the shore, a cool breeze gently shifting the newly born grass. I spotted a piece of wreckage that had a shape of a old fishing boat. the wood was rotting on the bottom, but the deck seemed clean, as if it just crashed. Now, at that point, i thought these were just some people, or canines if your human, that were at the wrong place at the right time. but as soon as I heard the name of the long awaited person the husky was looking for, My mind went blank, i could only think of one thing. The one i was looking for, these were her parents.

. . .

"So who is this?" asked the old grey and brown hybrid, a husky and wolf mixture, the mother was probably the downer of the lupine gene, I could smell it. "Call me Gabriel," I said , bowing in the proses.

"Gabriel, like the angel?" the husband asked.

"Heh! You could say that."

He scanned the metal plates and buffalo leather with great detail. "I would say your a hunter, but that rifle seems a bit big for any living thing here, don't you think?" I took the rifle off and set it next to the door way, "For what I'm hunting, i need to keep my distance." He cocked his head. "What do you hunt?" I smiled under the the iron collar." I'll admit that I can't exactly tell you, but i can show you." The old wolf just stared, and answered modestly, "Maybe later." Settling down my armor clinked and cracked as it slowly formed a pile under my behind, making the wood creak a bit as i sat.My pistols slid out the veil of leather. "You even have side arms, two at that" he said surprised. The red husky perked up. "is that the gun you shot Steele's . . . uh . . . " she asked, stopping in embarrassment. "Jenna, what are you talking about?" he asked with a puzzled, but agitated look. I paused a bit to gather my thoughts. " She was attacked by Steele, he wanted to get some pleasure from an unwanting source." Shooting up on his well battered paws he looked at me with disdain. "Luckily i was there."

'Balto . . .' she said, only to be interrupted.

'WHAT HAPPENED . . .'He yelled to yet be cut off, what irony.

'WHAT happened, was before he jumped on top, i made sure he didn't have that pleasure,. . . uh . . .'saying the last prt quickly 'squeezed of a round in his scrotum.'

There was a long pause, but from Balto's jaowls came a smile, then a smirk followed by an infectious laughter that I caught suddenly thinking of what i had done. I had no idea why it was so funny, but Jenna, unable to restrain herself, started to giggle at the thought of what just happened to the well known antagonist of the couples life. The laughter continued for minutes. The sun started to set in the northern sky, barely touching the horizon.

We all settled down, and sat conversating with eachother, looking at each other with smiles and grins as we told each of our stories. 'I can't believe you shot his balls off' Balto said, giggling with each word. My eyes turned up a bit as if smiling with my vision, chuckling a little. In though, I did have a question, one thing. But I'm not sure how to ask it. So i keep it to my self, but is it in hope to ask or in fear.

The sun was setting and the day was growing short. My armor started to feel heavy from being so relaxed where I sat. My tail hurts from being wrapped around my waist for such a long period of time. "Your welcome to stay as long as you need." I nodded in gratitude, with a hidden smile behind my metal plating. "I'll enjoy the company." He looked at me in question, but his eyes said that he understood what i meant. The night was calm, the wind was lite, and the crescent moon was far and distant. I was restless, I sat up on the blanket I laid out. I wore nothing but my long-coat and my bandanna, sitting in the shadows, thinking of how i was going to break it to them.
