In the nation of Gaul bordered by the land of eternal revolt called Charlemagne and the rigid legions of Komodo-Roma where the Dragon Empire connects with the rest of the continent Yuroepaw thousands of furs and scales gather to celebrate the festival of Humanis Requiem an event symbolized by a human skull. The original meaning has been lost to winds of time but it is marked in the memory of all as a great event when the world changed; when races of the past fell and they began to rise to prominence. Yuroepawans and others around the world light candles and pray that the souls of the departed find peace and the traditional tale of the Great War is retold, punctuated with displays of fireworks.
According to legend the Great War was a time of madness amongst a race of powerful but foolish creatures once known collectively as Mankind. Mankind along with half-humans culled from the Wise Ones, also known as elves, and the Savage goblin-kin known as orcs, tried to commit world wide genocide to ensure that they were the only thinking races upon the world. The elf and dwarf nations banded together like they had never done in the past only in times of dire need to defend themselves from humanity's onslaught. Both races of Good, the orderly and lawful dwarves, and the chaotic elves combined their ingenuity and magic to cast a powerful spell upon their would be murderers that infused them with the very animals they were acting like to create the races that now dominate the world, which the inhabitants now call: Zu.
High in a chain of mountains known as the Spine of the Earth Dragon in Gaul in a castle much like those built by mad King Ludwig of Bavaria on Earth another Ludwig holds court; he is a Bavarian mountain dog in the finery of a Medieval German King or Kaiser. Other dogs are gathered around him, more or less all kinds of breeds that trace their origin back to Germany in one way or another and all in the livery of nobles of the same era as the Kaiser. All save one who is dressed in leather armor marking him as a warrior and woodsman that is very ready to speak out when an announcement is made.
"HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND!" Markgraf Gundolf Jaeger inquires at full volume, the red and black German Shepherd quite adamant in his stance. "My apologies, my liege, but you are suggesting transporting a caravan through goblin held territory that has Dragon Empire fireworks as well as those made in the dream factory of the Wunderbar family of alchemists in my territory of Shadow Thorn Forest, I feel..."
"You feel obligated to remind me that this has much potential for disaster I am sure," Kaiser Ludwig V says with a smirk. "Would it make you feel better if you were in charge of security of the caravan?"
"Not by much, but yes, it would, my Liege," Gundolf admits.
"I asked you to this council to assign that duty to you in the first place," Kaiser Ludwig V states with a smile. "You know the passage ways to this castle better than many of my other nobles, especially those gathered here, many of whom needed your help in making it to this very meeting." He growls at this point, glaring at many of the noble men and women in attendance who bow their heads in shame. "For the Humanis Requiem festival I want some of he best fireworks we can find whether they come from our own lands or we have trade for them."
"And what did we trade for them if I may be so bold?" A Doberman pinscher who looks to be a Herzog by his finery asks.
"It was more or less a straight exchange, Herzog Himmler," Kaiser Ludwig V says openly, "I made arrangements for the Dragon Empire to get some Wunderbar fireworks in exchange."
"How soon do I leave, mine Kaiser?" Markgraf Jaeger asks.
"There is a drake arriving tomorrow for you," Kaiser Ludwig V says as a Kai Ken walks into the chamber. "Ah, Lady Yamaha, so nice of you to join us."

"Actually from what I know of his skill, there are people from my homelands that would welcome his safari." Keiko admits openly.
"Plus it would give you an opportunity to have him all to yourself wouldn't it?" Olga growls with a smirk.
"Well, there is that too," Keiko says wistfully. "But I'm sure they wouldn't seeing you too."
"The only way that's going to work if we share him," Olga says firmly.
"And what is that supposed to mean?" Keiko demands to know.
"You know what I mean," Olga returns. "We play with each other often enough that we can include Gun in the festivities."

"Oh, get off your high horse!" Olga growls and shoves a suit of leather armor into the other bitch. "Here, try this on for size."

"Just try it on, Keiko," Olga orders. "I know Gun enough that for us to accompany him, we'll need to be armored at least to some degree."
"I don't like it, but I'll put it on," Keiko grumbles and takes up a flailing staff. "I'm glad to see that the weapons we've been exchanging between our countries has been kept in good repair."
"I keep forgetting you're not like the freaking clerics that sometimes go adventuring," Olga says with a sigh. "You're more like a druid."
Gundolf is the most heavily armed of the three dogs with a long bow, a quarterstaff and a pair of sickles while Keiko just has her staff and a dagger while Olga has a spear, a mace and a dagger. Keiko looks askance at Olga for her arsenal as she is a witch-sorceress and not a warrior like Gundolf. Olga just ignores Keiko's stares as she follows Gundolf into the woods towards the Wunderbar Factory.
All three slide down the mountainside rapidly as the girls are following the ranger's lead and Gundolf sees where the meteorites were going to hit and that hurries his pace. A couple of the falling stars might have hit the factory if was not for the automated defenses that the alchemists working there put in place for just such an emergency. A series of nets catch the falling flaming rocks and transfer them to a set of catapults that fling the boulders into the nearby forest.
The ranger smirks and chuckles as he sees the moving meteorites and knows exactly what is going and the witch in back of him shares his amusement. Triceratops patrolling the perimeter of the mountain start to charge the three as they land on the plains to get running to the woods but a signal whistle from Gundolf gets them to stop charging for the most part but one of them continues as Gundolf waves him to come closer. The bull trike is large enough for all three to ride him and the herd that grazes are available to rangers who serve the Kaiser like Gundolf who is higher up in the military food chain than most others which is what has earned him his noble title even if many of the other nobles under Kaiser Ludwig resent the fact that a mere hunter, a scout, a soldier is a Markgraf and thus they have to treat him as a peer rather than a peon.
Riding on a dinosaur makes the travel so much quicker as the powerfully built triceratops just bulldozes his way through most everything on its way to the mountainous lake where the Wundarbar factory is situated. As they make their ride they see a few of the meteorites open which alarms Keiko and annoys Gundolf as this is more or less exactly what he was afraid of. The one large meteorite that splashes down opens to disgorge a green lobster with tentacles dangling from the face that is the size of a modern tank that seems to shimmer with its own inner light.

Gundolf gets in some really good shots with his bow before the monster overcomes the state of fear it had and tries to charge the warrior-druid as Olga sets her spear to receive the charge and Gundolf wisely leads the thing on a merry chase into the weapon. Knights of Gaul riding pachycephalosauruses aid the caravan the closer they get to the castle proper. One of the lobster monsters gets smart and goes for the rails to upset the oncoming train but the engineer just pours on the coal to make the engine pulling the cars go even faster before lobbing a bomb at the thing which unwisely devours the munition only to have its head explode moments after. Other knights mountain on miniature dragons swoop in to drop more bombs on the goblins and their allies as the train speeds across the high plains into the caves set up to welcome the Wundabar Express.
Alchemists of Gaul and the Dragon Empire, work together to set up the fireworks for the display as Gundolf, Keiko and Olga are recognized for their bravery. Kaiser Ludwig V bestows on all three of them the Iron Cross as a symbol of their achievement. Much to the dismay of the nobility gathered, Gundolf is declared a Herzog and Olga becomes a Herzogin.
Later in the evening, Herzog Gundolf Jaeger and Herzogin Olga as well as Keiko are nude in one of the heated outdoor pools the castle provides for its noble guests.
