The Greatest Disgrace - Confrontation
#7 of The Greatest Disgrace
A delicate paw tapped lightly on Kaylai's shoulder, slowly stirring the sleeping feline from her slumber. She shifted uneasily, her eyes adjusting slowly to the relative dim lighting of the enclosure. Looking up she saw Khardona standing above her, staring down, his paw resting lightly against her shoulder.
"Kaylai?"
Slowly standing and shaking the dirt from her fur, Kaylai became more and more aware of the situation around her, the ecstasy from before starting to wear off.
"Huh, what is it?" she responded softly, her memory of all that had happened slowly coming back to her.
"Are you ok? You were crying..."
Kaylai slowly brought a paw to her face, realizing that her fur was damp from tears, trying to ponder when it could have happened.
"You must have had a terrible dream; I can't imagine anyone who could end up here without having them..."
"I'm sure it was nothing..." she said walking over to a bowl of water which had been placed in the cell. The bowl was just as grimy as the rest of the place, but she didn't have much time to care for the grim surroundings. She lapped up the water greedily, trying to quench her surprising thirst.
"Kaylai..."
She looked behind her, her emotions like she had just been called on in class. She could barely maintain eye contact with the aged and experienced druid standing at the center of the room.
"We need to talk," were the only words that he uttered.
Kaylai quickly hung her head in shame, not quite sure what could prompt such a conversation. She was about to open her mouth to try and ask why he seemed so angry with her.
"Kaylai, I have been training Druid's of the Claw for enough years to realize when someone loses themselves to their instincts. Do you want to explain what last night was about?"
Kaylai tried to respond, tears welling up in her eyes, only to be cut off by Khardona's teacher like tone.
"I'm old enough to be your Grandfather girl, and I'm also old enough to realize the difference between passion and being lost in the throes of something you can't control. More importantly than that, I have been through this horrid treatment enough times to see when someone is losing themselves."
"But!" Kaylai attempted to protest, tears streaming down her velvet fur.
"But nothing girl, you and I both know that you damn near lost yourself to your feline form. I know that Druid's of the Stag aren't expected to operate in their feral forms, but I didn't realize they had given you no training on resisting feral instincts,"
Kaylai could only sit silently on her haunches, knowing that Khardona was right.
"You haven't actually told anyone, have you?" he continued.
She could only manage to shake her head, she had been dealing with people who knew so little about druids, it was odd to have someone who even had a chance of understanding what she was going through.
"Khardona, I didn't mean too... I mean," she tried to say, her voice squeaking through the tears.
"Kaylai, I am not mad at you," he said quickly trotting over to her and placing her head on his shoulder, "I more than anyone here knows what the hell it's like to have to shake those instincts, it isn't easy."
"Why didn't you stop me?" she sobbed.
"Would you really have let me?" he asked, the truth in his words burning her like a hot brand.
"I.... I don't know," she could barely muster; her voice quivered realizing quickly that Khardona wasn't like the goblins or that repulsive Orc. He knew her better in a matter of hours than they could have known her in years.
"In the boon of nature I shall refresh the world," he said, the words echoing the oath she had taken as a Druid of the Stag only a few years before hand. "You know Kaylai; most of the prisoners that they drag in here are already so defeated that they can barely stand. One of the upsides of seeing so many of these horrible things is being wise enough to realize that you are holding on to a ray of hope, and you haven't let any of these scumbags in on it".
Kaylai backed away from Khardona suddenly, "But... how".
"Because people who are truly in trouble never smile in the face of death," He said, looking towards the solitary beams of light which came from the ceiling, "And instincts or not, you were smiling last night".
Kaylai could only manage to blush.
"Oh come on now, you're telling me that I'm also not supposed to recognize the daughter of one of the most prominent, and might I add, determined women in the entirety of the Alliance?" he chuckled. "Hell, I'm afraid for myself. If Alannaria ever finds out I slept with her daughter, I'm pretty sure she'll just kill me too".
"I'm sure she won't be too angry," Kaylai managed to giggle; the ridiculous idea of being found by her mother seemed only a passing dream.
"But she is coming, isn't she? You've known from the moment that you were captured that there was no way she wouldn't notice," He asked inquisitively, a grin coming across his face.
"Well... I wouldn't quite say that," Kaylai managed to whisper; "I just know that if there is anyone who could get me out of this, it's her. She's always been a hero and she can't let me down; not when I need her most".
Khardona seemed to perk up, with news that the Horde had angered a beast so greatly that they could not even begin to comprehend the repercussions brought the old druid an almost whimsical feeling. "It probably doesn't hurt that someone is tracking you," he giggled.
"Wha-"Kaylai asked in surprise.
"I've worked with enough SI:7 agents to know when there is something more to a situation than first appears. I'm guessing that your mother is still married to Mellitharn isn't she? Hell I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't already in the city making a mess of things before your mother shows up." Khardona circled around Kaylai, pulling at her tail with his teeth.
"Ow! What was that for!" she protested.
She quickly noticed that he was proudly holding a leaf in his mouth. Seeming quite proud of himself he laid the leaf before her feat. "Mellitharn probably wanted to track you in such a way that no nosy Orc or troll would bother to notice. The Blood Elves or the Forsaken might have bothered to check if they had been the ones to capture you, but I assume he has left even more little tracking tricks that even I'm not aware of,"
"What... but... when did that get there?" she said clamoring to try and make sense of the leaf that was quintessentially just pulled from her ass.
"Your Father is one of the highest ranking Night Elf rogues in the entirety of the Alliance, and your mother has had more dragons attached to the end of her sword than most people can claim to have seen in their lifetime. I am just guessing that they took some amount of protection to keep you safe,"
"I don't feel very safe," Kaylai said, pawing at the leaf.
"Well I doubt your parents' emergency planning ever included you getting tamed in a feline form and being dragged to Silvermoon City, but if anyone had predicted that I would have been beyond surprised."
"How could you know all this?" Kaylai said, her mind buzzing with the possibility that there was actually a chance of being rescued.
"I used to work with your Mom and Dad before they shipped me off to help the Worgen. While I was helping the Worgen slowly move their supplies and people to Darnassus we were ambushed by a group of Alchemist working for the Apothecary society. There were so many in the group we didn't have time to react. The long and short of it is that now I am here in this dungeon having sex with their daughter... It's a strange world we live in. I feel like a cradle robber come to think of it," he said looking ashamed of himself.
"Look about that Khardona, I'm not upset with you. I just wanted to be close to another night elf and... well I might not be as good at this feral form as I had thought. I... it's been so confusing in the last couple of days between Red, and all the things in between that I don't even know what to do with myself. When I was growing up I was always told that our sexuality was something that was meant to be special, to be shared with someone we loved. But to feel such ecstatic joy as some feral beast takes you... I didn't know what to think".
"I think I have an idea of how you feel. Between the Worgen, Tauren, and Troll druids that they have thrown in here with me, I have a certain understanding of those confused feelings. Whoever said that you can't rape a man hasn't come toe to toe with very upset and very horny Tauren women," he said pointing to the scar across his eye, "Don't you ever blame yourself for enjoying the sensation. That's just biology at work, what happened to you was wrong, pure and simple. You need to understand that your feline form doesn't understand what's happening to it. It's not sitting with your thoughts and memories. It's not going to be easy, but you'll make it through this".
"And what if I am pregnant," she said, her ears drooping.
"We don't know that for sure yet, and if you are than that is a bridge that we will cross when it comes up. Right now the important thing is making it through this alive. I have seen to many prisoners, to many corpses. I don't want to see them make a corpse of someone that still has a chance of being saved," his reply was calm and cold.
"I just... I am so confused. I don't even know what love is Khardona. I've never really had a boyfriend of sorts, and I've always been more of a loner. I was too shy to attend those dances in Moonglade. I... I just don't know what to think anymore!" she cried out, the tone of frustration in her voice was overwhelming.
"If anyone ever finds the answer to what love is, they would be a Titan among men. What you need to understand Kaylai is that what happened to you wasn't love. No matter how much emotion Red may have expressed; at the end of the day he was still a feral beast. What happened to you wasn't love, it was rape. The physical feelings you felt aren't unusual, and they aren't wrong. The important thing is that you clear your mind and realize who you are Kaylai".
Kaylai sighed, stewing over what Khardona had told her. She didn't even feel comfortable in her own skin anymore. She felt like her body had betrayed her. She looked herself over, walking back to the water bowl. Staring at the murky reflection of herself. Letting loose a roar of frustration she quickly knocked the bowl to its side.
Khardona simply padded next to her whispering "You'll be ok".
"How can you just joke about it?" She asked quietly, "How can you sit here and just be alright with what happened. How can you just dismiss what happened between you and me?"
"Because Kaylai, you have to be able to. When you've been stuck in this basement for as long as I have; when you've been through countless hours of a sexual experience that neither of you wants, you have to learn how to cope with it. You need to be able to separate the sex from the emotions. It's the only way that I can make it through the day. Because at the end of the day I realize that the sex is nothing more than being used as a tool. At the end of the day both parties have to realize that it's not an emotional experience. If we get too attached to emotions, than we run the danger of..."
"Of What?" Kaylai yelled, anger developing in her voice, "Are you telling me that what happened between us last night was just nothing!?"
Khardona shook his head, "That's not what I meant, but Kaylai I have a Wife and Child back home waiting for me. I can't love you. Not in the way that you deserve to be loved by someone out there. I don't pretend to know who or where that someone is. I also don't expect you to adopt the same philosophy I have towards sexuality. But you do need to understand that what happened last night wasn't love."
"Than what was it!?" she demanded, a near rage billowing in her voice.
"I don't know what it was, me a druid who can barely contain her instincts act out on them? What do you want me to tell you? I figured you were so wrapped around saving those other prisoners that you just wanted to keep those bastard captors of ours happy."
"I... " Kaylai took a minute to pause, still upset that Khardona didn't feel the same way that she did. Though as she thought on it more, she wasn't even sure she felt that way herself. As she sat next to the spilled water bowl she could only try and wonder what she did feel. It was becoming increasingly difficult to separate her emotions and the instincts of her feral form.
As she sat pondering, she heard as the door to the cell swung open. The Scientist stood at the entrance holding a rope.
"NO!" Khardona screamed "YOU'RE NOT TAKING THIS ONE YOU SICK BASTARD, SHE HAS DONE NOTHING!"
Kaylai could only watch as the Scientist sent a bolt of shadow like energy at Khardona, knocking him against the back of the cell.
She tried to charge him, only to once again feel the stone constricting against her, holding her back. "No, Damnit no, I won't! NO!"
She fought desperately against her body as the Scientist calmly walked towards her, looping the rope around her neck. Her mind reached desperately trying to break the control that was held over her, only to realize that her body was making its way out of the cell and up the damp hallway. Despite her screams and protest, the scientist seemed to pay her no attention. He was busy writing things down on a clipboard.
She quickly found herself on a pedestal above which a massive electrical monstrosity sat. Arcs of energy bolted from it to the surrounding area.
"What... what is this?" she cried out.
"Project 174 was a failure, test inconclusive on insemination. Chemical will not be able to bring into estrus for at least 6 months. Project protocol demands recycle of Project 174's essence for capture of new druid."
"Recycle of essence what does tha-"she began to ask before a massive green bolt of energy came from the massive contraption above her. Kaylai shrieked in horror as the machine seemed to be ripping the fur from her flesh and the muscle from her bone. The pain that ravaged her was overwhelming. Green bolts shot into the wall and the Undead scientist only cackled.
The pain was incredibly, it was as if every part of her body was being torn completely apart. She tried to close her eyes only to feel intense pain shooting along every nerve. She cried in terror her body being ripped asunder by the device. She quickly felt herself fading, memories of her life flashing before her eyes. The darkness was coming, coming so very quickly.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?" a voice screamed. It was Salvo.
"Oh Salvo, the scientist has simply determined the druid you captured was a failed project. We are recycling it so that its essence may be used to assist in our capture of the next druid," the voice of the Warlord said coldly.
*Twang*
A massive explosion could be heard, as the pain seemed to dull. Kaylai tried to open her eyes again, looking above her to see an arrow lodged in the device. Her body still writhed with pain, she saw that Salvo had a bow in arrow in his hands, his young son standing next to him.
"SALVO, WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE!?"
"I'm ending this here and now Warlord. This Night Elf has done nothing to deserve death, and I'm not playing a part in this sick twisted experiment any longer. Come on Kaylai we're getting out of here."
"Not without Khardona..." she coughed, blood splattering against the floor.
She watched as the Warlord quickly pulled his blade, charging Salvo. The two began fighting, though it was clear that Salvo was at the disadvantage. She saw from the corner of her eye as the scientist was preparing a bolt of shadow like the one he had cast at Khardona.
Kaylai took the opportunity with the distracted scientist to pounce; knocking him to the floor. Nothing was going to stop her as she laid claw after claw into his disgusting, rotting flesh. She tore into him, an anger fueled by the mistreatment of tens of druids before her. She was completely blinded by her rage. Each swing of her claw was more ferocious and fueled by hatred than the next.
As her jaw went for his throat, ensuring that the creature would never draw breath again, she looked up to see the Warlord and Salvo in a tight battle. The Warlord seemed to callously aim his swings for Salvo's young son, forcing the already outmatched Orc to try and defend him.
The blood rage still rippling through Kaylai's sore and battered muscles, she rushed into the warlord, her skull landing square against his rib cage, knocking him against the floor. He attempted to defend himself, launching a ball of ice towards her, catching her fur and tail, and causing intense pain to ripple through her already weakened body. The attack was all that Salvo needed to get the upper hand though, quickly jumping backwards and launching a volley of arrows towards the prone Warlord.
As the arrows tore through his cloth garments, Kaylai could only roar at the sight of the Warlord's blood spilling against the cold, stone floor. She rushed in once again, her claws quickly shredding through his garments and into his flesh, her teeth sinking into his exposed skin.
"That's enough! He's dead," Salvo screamed, rushing towards Kaylai.
She ignored the Orc instead choosing to continue her assault, ripping limps and flesh alike from the slain warlord.
"KAYLAI," he screamed, knocking the enraged druid off of the shredded corpse.
Kaylai tried desperately to claw her way back to the Warlord, only to be held back by Salvo. "LET ME GO, DAMNIT LET ME GO!" she screamed, not wanting to let her opportunity for revenge slip past her. "He's dead! He's not coming back! Now come on, we have to get out of here. We just killed a High Ranking Horde official in a town filled with people who would kill us without a second thought for lesser things".
"I'm not leaving without Khardona!" she cried, her mind still wanting to slice Salvo's throat open.
"He'll slow us down," Salvo replied, quickly realizing that what little control he had left over the druid was fading swiftly. He concentrated desperately just to keep her from tearing into his throat.
"Fine, where is your friend?" Salvo said indignant about the whole situation.
She quickly rushed off down the hallway, blocking out the insane amounts of pain coming from her insides.
"Damn it all," Salvo muttered, grabbing his son's hand. He began running to try and follow the enraged feline, discovering just how narrow and difficult to navigate the dungeon could be. After bumping into his third torch, he only found himself greeted by Kaylai struggling desperately to pull the unconscious Khardona.
"Is he even alive!?" Salvo said, frustration and panic starting to set in. Salvo was intelligent enough to realize that alive or dead the druid was dragging her friend out of this dungeon. With an uncertain sigh, he picked the unconscious, white coated feline off the dungeon floor and threw it over his shoulder.
"Well at least they kept him well fed," Salvo said exasperated, not expecting the druid to present such a hefty amount of weight. Salvo's son, having been quiet for the entire experience finally opened up with a slew of questions.
"Daddy! What's going on? I'm scared!" he cried, attempting to scale Salvo's back. Salvo could only let out a grunt, shouldering the weight of the unconscious feline and his scared son. He began running out of the dungeon, back towards its entrance, though slowed severely by the additional baggage. Kaylai stayed behind him, her eyes never averting from Khardona's unconscious form.
As they trudged up what seemed like an endless set of stairs, the group finally made their way back to the main room. Salvo took a quick glance around only to realize that the body of the Warlord was missing.
"Dead eh? Maybe next time you'll let the one who has experience telling the difference between the living and dead make that call?" Kaylai said walking out from behind Salvo and sniffing the air, a fiery rage still echoed in her voice.
"Come on, if we can get to a roof, I think I know a way out of this city," he said, hustling towards the tower that lead out of this dungeon, " there should be one at the top of these stairs".
"I'm a prisoner, not a fool. I remember how we got down here," she rebutted staying by his side.
Khardona began moaning, trying to wake himself up. The flights of stairs seemed to be jostling him from his unconscious state. He looked down at Kaylai, who was trotting alongside the tiring Salvo.
"Kaylai... what? What's going on? Where am I?"
"I've decided the water bowl in our cell wasn't matching up to my taste in home decor. We're leaving," she replied, her ears flat against her skull.
"Kaylai?"
As he uttered her name, Khardona slipped back into an unconscious state.
The group continued to climb stairs, slowly making their way to the roof of the tower. Looking out the windows revealed that a thunderstorm had settled over the area, the rain and wind blew through the open architecture of the Blood Elf structure with ease, soaking them. The stairs seemed to be an endless climb, each step seeming to take more energy than the last.
When they finally reached the roof of the structure, Salvo quickly set young Karg as well as the unconscious Khardona. He whistled into the air, calling out for his trusted Wyvern.
"I'm afraid your free ride won't be coming tonight Herg Deadeye," said the pained voice of the Warlord.
Kaylai and Salvo quickly looked over to see the Warlord holding his hand over his chest, blood staining his already red robes. He held a small riding crop in in his open hand a satisfied grin crossing his face.
"Well Salvo, you've gone and made an enemy of the Horde and the Society all in one night. You truly are a foolish Orc. Your blood will rain down upon the streets of Silvermoon as a reminder to those who would dare betray the Horde. And you... little bitch, you will pay for the blood you have spilled tonight. I will take a great deal of delight in ending your life".
"Told you that you should have let me finish the job," Kaylai huffed, the muscles in her legs rippling with rage as she prepared to pounce. With a leap she sailed towards the Blood Elf Warlord.
A snap of lightning, and a fireball erupted from the Warlord's hand, striking Kaylai midflight, and blowing her into the unconscious Khardona.
"Foolish little brat, didn't anyone ever teach you how to fight,"
"I DID"
A massive sword flew through the air slamming into the roof, shattering the tile of the roof, exposing its wooden and clay structure.
Alannaria Moonblade came roaring behind the sword, slamming into the roof shortly after.
"What now?" the Warlord demanded impatiently, preparing to launch a Fireball at the Alliance General. Alannaria only smiled, rushing the crippled Blood Elf, slamming a shield into his chest and knocking him to his back. With just as swift a motion she recovered her sword and plunged it into the throat of her prone opponent. The night sky seemed to scream out, thunder crashing as the sword went spilled the Warlord's blood.
"This night just keeps getting better," Salvo sighed, preparing to pick his bow and arrow. The action was only met with a small hatchet slicing through the string of his bow. From the night sky, a Night Elf rogue dropped onto the roof, landing diligently besides the now two unconscious druids.
"Get behind Daddy Karg," Salvo commanded, raising his small knife to the Rogue and fiercely intimidating Warrior.
The moment seemed to be frozen in time, Karg hiding behind Salvo. The two Night Elves standing proudly on the roof of the Blood Elf structure, and a heap of unconscious druids. The wind and rain whipped the cold and calm Alliance General's face. Salvo seemed to think for a second before grabbing the stone from his pocket and issuing a command:
"Kaylai... Attack",
Kaylai was stirred from her slumber, as the haze that had overcame her seemed stronger than ever. As her mind slowly started to return to her, she realized what was going on. Her body was preparing to attack the two night elves before her.
Suddenly, more than ever before, Kaylai struggled against the stone. She felt as if she was slamming her head against a glass bubble, screaming at the top of her lungs only not to be heard.
"No" was all she could scream, over and over again, fighting against each and every step.
Alannaria could only gasp watching as her daughter prepared to pounce
"Then you truly have betrayed your people," she cried out, raising her sword preparing to strike her would be attacker down...
