#1 of Improbable Heroes

An epic tale of heroism and demons, with an epically bearded ancient wizard. Join our Champions on their quest to stop the Demon Lord known as "Bob the Destroyer"....also some silliness :P

While this story is a direct sequel to The Northlands, it's perfectly possible to read this as is. I shall be providing a narrative intro to explain the story up to now, so no worries if you don't feel like going back or you have read it but forgotten :)

The reason I split it off is because I really want to do this thing more justice. So instead of changing styles and whatnot in the middle of the damn thing, it's a new book.

Any and all comments on structure, spelling, grammar, use of language, the intelligence of the colour blue, quantum theory or even storyline are more than welcome! Just leave a comment or send me a PM if you think you know better than me (you get a fabulous prize if you do!).

Improbable Heroes, Chapter I: Arrival

*papers shuffling*

Ahem, *clears throat vigorously*...Hello, my name is Sir Roderick Ponce Von Fontlebottom The Magnificent Bastard. Before we begin I should explain that I will be serving as the narrator to this epic tale of heroism, revenge, glory and blue cheese. If you have difficulty imagining my voice, you may use John Cleese as your benchmark.

Now! Let's set the scene shall we?...ehm, hang on...I know I've got it around here somewhere *more papers* Ah, here we are. *clears throat even more vigorously*

This is the tale of a small group of adventurers, four in total, on a quest to save the world. (Yes I know it's a bit cliché, it gets better.) This quest began centuries ago when the great wizard/thespian Thrashbarg the Old prophesized the end of the world at the hands of an invading demonic army, led by the fearsome "Bob the Destroyer" whose real name is too painful to pronounce. Having seen this unavoidable danger, the venerable mage did the only thing he could think of to stop it. He went into a sort of hibernation in the tomb of his former king (who was actually just having a lie down himself).

Centuries later he was woken by two wolf warriors, called Ulm and Fenrir, come to seek riches in the tomb. After observing them defeat the tomb's guardian he confronted them and declared them his Champions. The wolves took him less than serious, but were soon persuaded when the old mage summoned flagons of ale out of thin air...also there was a Succubus demon which nearly bit Fenrir's head off after she'd seduced him in the middle of a cave-temple filled with Bob-cultists and a magic gemstone.

From there this heroic party marched onwards to the avian city Heaven's Peak. The mage had foreseen that they would find a Guide there, with the knowledge needed to survive travel through the Demonic plane. They found their guide in the form of Emily, a young girl that was being chased by demonic hounds when Fenrir stumbled onto her. The girl turned out to be a halfblooded Succubus, escaped bastard daughter/slave to a high ranking Incubus Lord, born of a human slave girl. She agreed to help the party navigate the dangers of the Demonic plane on one condition: they would first help her kill her father. (who apparently wanted to sacrifice her virgin blood for some kind of ritual...oh she's not a virgin anymore by the way.)

Agreeing happily to this insane idea, the party continued on to the sacred valley of Arganok to activate a portal to the Demonic plane. Despite a fierce avian attack, caused by their perceived desecration of sacred ground, they managed to open a portal and step through unscathed.

Which brings us, at last, to the current situation. I leave you in the capable and highly intelligent hands of the writer.

A great big shimmering ball of red light burst into existence. After recovering from the ordeal of inter-dimensional travel, the ball of light looked around itself. Its crimson light revealed a large, dull chamber. It was completely empty with dull grey stone walls, a dull wooden door and immensely boring demonic moss growing on the ceiling. It decided that this would have to do and spit out a tangle of dark shapes, which fell to the ground with a clanging and a scream. The ball vanished and left the tangle in the dark.

A female voice cried out, "For heaven's sake get off me Ulm!"

A gruff manly sort of voice responded. "This is Fenrir, Ulm's the one pulling at your leg."

"Well get off me anyway!"

After a hectic few seconds, their various limbs untangled and the party managed to scramble to their feet. A bright red light suddenly burst into being, perched neatly on the tip of an old wolf's staff. Thrashbarg tugged on his beard as he surveyed their surroundings. He mumbled and shook his head. '...bloody portals...never where you want it...good for nothing......unionised..."

The others were gathering up their gear, which had been thrown all about as they dropped out of the portal. Fenrir strapped his dragonbone bastard sword securely to his swordbelt, his grey fur coloured a dark red by the eerie lighting. Charcoal manly man Ulm found his mithril axe and slung it over his shoulder, before stealing a look at Emily as she bent over to collect her scattered arrows. Her spade-tipped tail wrapped around her waist, small scales running along the length. Her small horns and purple hair were quickly covered by a black leather hood.

Fenrir turned to the mumbling wizard "Is this it? Doesn't seem very demon-y to me."

The old wolf turned around with a twirl of blood red robes, his voice a thundering creation that would well suit a Shakespearian actor. "Of course this is it! I'm not an amateur you know. We should see what lies beyond that door." Is staff pointed at the only notable feature of the room, a large and sturdy looking wooden door.

The mage marched up to it, the rest of his party in tow. He grabbed the ring-handle and pulled. The door remained unaffected. Frowning, the wolf tugged again, harder this time. The door creaked slightly. "First that damn portal, now a defiant door?!" His whiskers bristled furiously.

Ulm stepped forward. "Maybe you should..." Before being pushed aside by the old mage.

"Stand back!" He pointed his staff straight at the door with both arms. "FLAMMINGUS ORBUS!!!"

A flash of fire shot forward and slammed into the door, splinters and smoke filled the air along with a resounding crash. Thrashbarg's robes fluttered in the wind and Emily was knocked off her feet by the blast.

As the smoke cleared it became apparent that the door had a large hole in its centre, the edges smouldering. It had also swung open the other way.

"As I was saying, maybe you should push it...."Ulm rubbed his eyes and shook his head.

Thrashbarg shrugged "I have no time for nonsense like that. Follow me!" He strode outward with long confident strides.

The party found themselves outside, perched atop a tall set of wide, stone stairs. Everyone but Emily, who had been born here, looked around in amazement. The sky was a savage one, grey clouds whipped around a gloomy orange and red background, the sun was twice the usual size and gave off an uncomfortable heat. The terrain wasn't much more encouraging either. Windswept stone outcrops dominated the landscape, greys and browns and blacks. Sand filled the gaps in between, stirred up by gusts of wind.

Fenrir planted his paws in his side. 'Ok....demon-y enough for me. What do we do now exactly?"

Emily's eyes flashed with fire under her hood and she tucked a lock of purple hair back into place. "We go kill Lord father. I've been here before, his estates aren't far way. A day's travel maybe"

Thrashbarg nodded gravely and waved his arm dramatically. "Lead the way Guide, you will have your price."

They followed the Demon girl in single file. She'd thrown back her hood, her partially scaled face constantly looking around, searching for dangers. The warriors kept their paws close to their weapons. As they travelled across the uneven ground, they spotted the first signs of life. Emily warned them to avoid the strange, dark purple moss covering the shady sides of rocks.

"Don't touch it unless you like being eaten alive."

Fenrir was particularly unnerved by the seemingly random flashes of light across the sky. They reminded him a bit of the northern lights, only more violent and displaying all sorts of colours. It fascinated him so much that he was nearly bitten by a foot long spider lunging out from under a rock. Thrashbarg killed it with a deft stomp of his staff and a flash of fire. Emily packed up the critter as food, much to the warrior's distaste.

"It's good food this, great with some roasted bloodpeppers." She remarked.

It took them several hours march to reach a small shaded pond of water. Before Emily could stop him, Ulm had rushed out ahead towards it.

"No! Stop!"

He splashed a pawful of water over his head, sighing with relief. Suddenly, he was thrown on his back, the breath knocked out of him. He looked towards the pond to see a massive scythe-like claw sticking out of the earth right where he was sitting. Fenrir, who'd pulled him back at the last second, helped him on his feet and drew his blade.

The earth around the claw exploded, showering the party in sand and stones. Fenrir saw a shadow flash to his left and slashed sideways, feeling his blade strike a hard surface. A high-pitched shriek assaulted his ears, his sword was nearly pulled out of his paw.

Thrashbarg's voice bellowed out from behind him, shouting something unintelligible. The mage sent a powerful gust of wind forwards and cleared the dust from the air to reveal their opponent. A massive scorpion like beast stood before them. Instead of pincers it had massive scythes and it had no tail. Emily's arrow clattered ineffectually off its armour plating. The beast screamed again, rushing forwards and lashing out with its claws.

Ulm and Fenrir both blocked the attacks, dancing backwards to avoid any more attacks. Ulm charged the beast's side and swung hard for the legs, his axe slashed through seemingly without effort, severing a limb and producing a gush of black blood. The beast flailed aside and hit the wolf with the side of a claw throwing him back violently.

Fenrir shouted "Any time now Thrashbarg, do that magic thing some more!"

Thrashbarg stroked his beard for dramatic pause and nodded gravely. He took on his best heroic pose and pointed his staff straight at the beast. "Have at thee foul demonspawn! A flash of fire slammed into the beast's side, but it seemed unharmed. Angered, it turned and rushed straight at the old mage.

The wizard stroked his beard once more. "So fire is ill advised...perhaps..." The rest looked on in horror as the beast reached the old wolf, who seemed completely unconcerned

The second its claw lashed out, Thrashbarg jumped aside with remarkable alacrity, dodging the wild offensive. His staff crackled and sparked as he slammed it hard against the beast's side. It jerked and convulsed, dropping to the ground and shrieking uncontrollably. Thrashbarg calmly climbed on top of the beast's back and dramatically held his staff aloft for a few seconds, before crashing it down again The second attack made the creature slump to the ground, quite plainly dead.

Thrashbarg took out a small black book from his sleeve and conjured a quill out of thin air. He muttered as he scribbled "Giant scorpion, Ergon's lightning highly effective. Avoid fire." He tucked the book back into its sleeve pocket and looked up to see the others staring at him In disbelief.

He raised his eyebrow and scoffed. "What part of ancient wizard don't you people understand exactly?" He shook his head and bent over to collect a sample.

They marched onwards for a few more hours after this encounter. Emily stopped next to a small cave. "We should make camp here."

Fenrir looked to the sky "Already? But the sun's still high?"

"The sun never goes down here." Emily dropped her pack to the ground.

Fenrir wiped the sweat off his brow, being used to the cold of the Northlands. "Oh....lovely."

They settled down in the semi-comfortable shade of the cave while Thrashbarg conjured water into their cups, a notably handy skill middle in the of a desert. Half a wheel of blue cheese appeared out of nowhere, most likely because it could. Fenrir sharpened his blade and Thrashbarg sat examining the scorpion armour plate he took with him.

"So is everything here like this?" Ulm asked Emily.

"These are the wildlands. The Demon Lords typically keep plants and animals on their estates. Gardens, they call them, but they are no place to wander around alone. Plants that eat a man alive are the least of your worries."

Ulm laughed "By the Gods, I can tell we're going to have fun here. Man eating plants, Demon Lords gathering an army, I'm surprised we're not dead already the way you keep describing this place! I can't wait for a good fight!"

Ulm's grin disappeared when a loud hissing reached his ears. "...what was that?"

Emily's eyes shot open and she reached for her bow, prompting the others to draw their own weapons. The entrance to the cave darkened, the light blocked by a tall upright creature, standing a head taller than even the large warriors.

Emily's eyes ignited as well, her horns grew slightly and her facial features grew sharper, her bones cracking softly as they adjusted to a more Demon-like form. She consciously kept her nails from growing into claws and drew an arrow. "Stop right there!" Her voice turned deeper, threatening.

Thrashbarg ignited his staff and send a beam of light towards the creature. The red light revealed a serpent-like beast, standing tall on a muscular tail section but with a anthropomorphic upper body topped with a serpent's head. Brown scales ran across his body, covering a muscular chest and a pair of arms armed with sharp black claws. Its tongue shot out as it tasted them. The wolf warriors made ready to charge.

Surprising all but Emily, it began to speak. "By what rightssss do you claims this place?"

Emily responded "We are travellers, seeking shelter."

The great serpent tilted his head sideways. "Travellerssss? This is my shelter, my landssss."

Emily lowered her bow "We meant no offence, but we are in need of this place."

The creature nodded "Sssso you are...a price must be paid then. The Blood price."

This comment would have made the warriors attack if Emily didn't stop them with a gesture. The demon girl nodded "We have no blood but our own, but we might pay with service instead."

The serpent brought a clawed hand to his chin. He ran his slitted eyes over them, weighing the risk of attacking them.. "Ssssservice will suffice."

Emily turned to her companions "drop the weapons, he'll do us no harm." They obeyed hesitantly. She placed her own weapon against the cave wall. "Just do as he says guys."

As soon as they sheathed their weapons, the creature slithered forwards, coming to a stop in front of the demon girl. He placed his claws on her shoulders and pushed her to her knees. She immediately ran her hands over the serpent's midsection, rubbing over his coarse scales. The wolves' eyes widened as the serpent's twin cocks emerged from its protective slit, two good sized members spaced a small distance apart above one. Emily grabbed the bottom one and began stroking it gently, extracting a satisfied hiss from the creature. It looked up towards the flabbergasted trio of wolves and pointed at Fenrir "That one will come offer perform sssservice."

Fenrir's jaw dropped. Being a manly warrior man, he was less than eager to submit himself to the demon. Emily looked back at him pleadingly. He swallowed hard and breathed deeply....then trotted up to the beast. The serpent pushed him down on his knees as well, clearly expecting him to join the girl. He made a near-physical effort to swallow his pride and grabbed the ridged member, it fit snugly in his paw. He started moving in time with Emily, the creature made a series of clicking sounds, a strange sort of moan.

Ulm and Thrashbarg stood to the side, fidgeting rather awkwardly at the sight. They eventually decided that the cave's ceiling was worth serious study.

Emily and Fenrir soon had their respective cocks throbbing and dribbling precum. The serpent reached down and placed his claws on their heads, pulling them closer. Emily darted her tongue out immediately, lapping up the oily pre with apparent eagerness. Fenrir took more persuading, but soon found himself tasting its cock all the same. He was surprised to find it was slightly sweet, rather like honeyed milk. As he swallowed, a warmth spread through his chest and down to his groin.

Seconds later, their heads were bobbing up and down beside each other as they sucked on the hard reptilian members. The creature's neck ridge had flared open, making it seem even larger. Fenrir found his earlier reluctance completely wiped away, replaced by a hunger. A small voice at the back of his mind suggested the creature's precum was drugging him, but it went unheard. He lapped up the sweet liquid eagerly, his free paw rubbed his own cock through his trousers. Emily seemed just as flushed, she slipped one hand into her leather vest and squeezed her breasts alternatively.

The serpent, satisfied with the effects, pulled the pair back to their feet. It tugged at their clothes. They took the direction and stripped naked, leather and furs falling to the ground as quickly as they could take them off. The dragged them over to a raised section of the cave, forming an improvised table as he pushed the girl onto her back. Fenrir was directed to crawl on top of her. A clawed hand pushed him down flat.

Fenrir found himself face to face with Emily. They looked at each other, flushed and sweating. The girl's tits were mashed up against the warrior's chest and his cock throbbed, trapped between them and dribbling pre. They both startled as the great serpent pushed his dripping cocks against them. One pushed into Emily's dripping wet pussy, the other speared Fenrir's tight tailhole. They yelped as it pushed inside of them. It gave them little time to adjust and immediately starting pumping in and out. Its oiled up cocks speared deeply into them both, making Fenrir grit his teeth and Emily yelp. A pleasing and numbing warmth spread through them, making the joining less painful.

The wolf felt hard claws grab and pull on his rump, squeezing them roughly. His cock ground against the demon girl's stomach, the tiny scales there making for a rasping sensation. He started moving back towards the ridged cock, working to grind his own member harder into the girl, much to the serpent's approval. Emily wrapped her arms around the wolf and simply weathered the storm. The demon serpent continued on relentlessly, slamming into them hard.

Suddenly, the beast pulled Fenrir up and back by the shoulders. His top cock drilled in as deep as it could go, making the warrior wince. His engorged cock bobbed up and down with every thrust. Emily looked up, her newly freed tits were bouncing back and forth and sweat glistened on the smooth parts of her grey skin. She reached up and grabbed Fenrir's cock, stroking it quickly. Fenrir's eyes slammed shut as he shot his load. His cum splashed down on the girl's chest, she licked a drop off her finger.

As the spent wolf stopped moving, the demon serpent pulled out. It casually let the warrior drop off the ridge to his side and lined himself up again, taking both her holes. Emily screamed as it slammed forwards, but made no effort to stop it. She bit her lip and her claws raked the stone under her. Its double cocks drived the girl to orgasm in no time. Emily didn't slow down for a second, the effect of the beast's cum driving her on. She pushed back towards the serpent and worked her hips. The beast continued on until he felt her spasm a second time before leaning over her. He pounded his cocks into her to the hilt, filling her up as full as she would go.

Finally approaching climax, the serpent hissed loudly and slammed into her with his full weight, making her fall flat onto the stone. He pumped his load into her, his creamy thick cum filed her up and dribbled out from her pussy. The strange cum made her orgasm a third time, she writhed and twisted under its weight.

Satisfied at last, the beast rose back onto its...ehm, coils. "Consider the price payed mortalssss." It slithered out of the cave, leaving them to their hard-won prize.

It took the pair a few minutes to recover from the ordeal. They sat leaning dazed against the wall as the drug was flushed from their systems. Ulm and Thrashbarg gave them water to drink and covered them up as best they could. As Fenrir's mind cleared up he was hit by a wave of shame, Ulm avoiding to look straight at him didn't help either.

The grey wolf cleared his throat. "Can we eh...pretend that never happened?"

The other two wolves nodded enthusiastically. Emily shook her head "You non-demons are so weird. That's how things are done here. Nothing weird about it. Consider it like money or something. Instead of paying with a chuck of silver, and you have to admit that a desert dwelling snake has little use for that, you just pay like that. It beats the Blood Price."

Ulm shrugged "What the problem with giving him some blood? We've got plenty."

Emily gave the charcoal wolf a look that told him exactly how stupid that remark was. "The Blood Price means ALL of your blood Ulm, your life. He would have either given you to a major demon for a favour or eaten you."

"Oh..."

Where is the blasted....I had it written down here somewhere....what do you mean I'm on? This is a story, how can this be live?!..Oh bugger it all! I'll make something up!

*Arrrem ahem*

Weary from their travels and...ah, other activities ,the party of champions went to sleep. This seems an opportune time to call it a chapter! I do hope that the writer and I have been able to provide you with a pleasurable experience. This is of course only the introduction of an epic tale of heroism, adventure, magic and demons...and perhaps some silliness as well.

The next chapter shall bring you a first introduction to the Demon civilisation, as well as plenty of action...by which I mean adventure-y action, like combat and whatnot....ok, fine, you can have some yiffing as well. Just don't come running to me and complaining about how there's too many distractions.

Once again, PLEASE voice any and all (fair) criticisms and opinions, it can only help.
