The Origin of Shadow

Chapter 6

(Demon of Darkness)

As I slept I began to have strange, disturbing nightmares. I saw things that you could never imgaine. I don't know what it was about, but I saw clans of Demons fighting each other, viciously and brutually on the plains of Hell with no signs of mercy. Then suddenly a bright white light appeared in the sky and they had a new enemy. All the Demons united and started to fight their new foe. They were strong, stronger than most of the Demons. This was so bizzare, what was I watching? What purpose did it have? That's when I saw him, Shdow-Heart was there, fighting like a savage beast, tearing his enemies apart with his teeth and claws. I suddenly woke up before I got a chance to see how this war ended. I opened my eyes and looked around to see I still remained in the dark container. But then I found out why as I heard voices coming from down below. Fred and vIDo were argueing with someone.

??????: "Where is he? We know he's here"

Frederick: "I have no idea what you're talking about"

??????: "Perhaps this will make you see things our way"

I hear a load crash and alot of banging as Frederick didn't like what they were doing.

Frederick: "STOP THAT!!!! I'M TELLING YOU I DON'T KNOW WHO OR WHERE THE PERSON YOU'RE LOOKING FOR IS"

?????: "In that case you're no use to us, so I guess there's no harm in killing you for wasting our time"

vIDo: "Fred RUN!!!"

This wasn't good. He was about to get himself killed for my sake, this just didn't feel right so I broke the straps holding down my arms before I started to thrash and bang about in the container which got the attention of whoever was harrassing Frederick.

??????: "What was that?"

Frederick: "Oh.......that was just something I was building, I'll get it to stop, just let me pull this lever"

I think I might have accidently cut the cables the table was attatched to because I just suddenly fell along with the table. But instead of falling flat on my back, I managed to flip onto my feet. I then looked around and saw my body. My muscles were bigger, my fur was now black and white instead of gray and I was also wearing strange clothes, mainly a black, leather trench coat and a pair of black trousers. After noticing that I looked up and saw the attackers. They were soldiers from the Canid Empire. Once they saw me they smiled and drew their weapons. There were about 5 of them, all heavily armoured. Looks like I was about to put my new abilities to the test.

Soldier: "So Jericho was not wrong afterall. Kill him"

One of the soldiers behind me charged and swung his sword horizontally to cut me in half at the waist, but I did a perfect backflip over the sword and then I took the guy out with a punch to the back of his neck, instantly breaking it. He fell to the floor as 2 more soldiers ran at me, I picked up the sword that the fallen soldier was using and used it to kill the other 2 soldiers. I countered the attack of one of them, knocking the sword out of his paw and drove my sword through his armour, into his chest and stabbing his heart. He coughed up blood and collapsed onto me as I grabbed him and held him up to stop him from crushing me under the weight of his bulky armour. But then the other soldier came at me, so I threw the dead soldier at him, knocking him through a wall and outside the house. The last 2 also tried to kill me despite the fact their allies failed so quickly, so I decapitated one of them and I tore the other one's heart out, after their lifeless bodies fell to the ground, Fred ran upto me in a panic.

Frederick: "There's more outside, ALOT more"

vIDo: "So what do we do?"

Frederick clicked his fingers like he got an idea before he signalled us to follow him. He led us to the top of his house where there was something mounted ontop of his roof, but it was covered by a sheet of fabric.

Frederick: "I consider myself to be an expert on weapons, specifically..........guns"

He pulled off the sheet to reveal a strange mechanism.

Shadow: "Is that a........'gun' ?"

Frederick: "Yes, but to be more specific it's a gatling gun, the first of it's kind. All you have to do is use the sight on the end of the barrel to aim and turn this handle here to rotate the barrels and launch the bullets at your target"

Shadow: "Erm............what?"

Frederick: "Point and turn to kill them, HURRY"

I quickly got behind the gatling gun and the moment I touched it I seemed to instantly know how to use it like it was second nature to me. It was strange, but I had to focus. I could smell and hear the other soldiers, but they were in the forest, behind the trees and bushes. I couldn't see them. But then I heard Shadow-Heart in my head.

'Use your thermal vision, it'll highlight their body heat and allow you to see through certain materials. Just close your eyes and concerntrate on using it'

I concerntrated as I closed my eyes like Shadow-Heart told me too. Then when I opened my eyes again I could see them moving about through the trees. But to me, the trees looked like very transparent black figures on a blue background with strange multi-coloured things running around. I aimed the gatling gun and opened fire as I destroyed the forest area infront of Frederick's house. The soldiers didn't stand a chance as they were dropping like flies. They had tough armour, but this mechanism that Fred made seemed to have the power to pierce both wood and metal as the bullets seemed to pass through the trees and the soldeirs without any difficulty. Fred and vIDo put their fingers in their ears as the noise was over-powering.

Fred: "YOU MISSED A FEW OVER THERE!!"

Shadow: "WHAT?"

Fred: "I SAID YOU MISSED A FEW"

Shadow: "I CAN'T HEAR YOU. DAMN THIS THING IS LOUD"

After a minute or two, I had destoryed enough trees and foliage to see the soldiers clearly. But this thermal vision was still fun.

vIDo: "LOOK, THEY'RE RETREATING"

Shadow: "WHAT?"

vIDo: "STOP FIRING THAT THING FOR ONE SECOND YOU IDIOT"

Shadow: "WHAT?"

Fred+vIDo: "STOP FIRING"

Shadow: "WHAT?"

I kept turning the crank as the soldiers fled when suddenly the bullets stopped coming out of the gun. Fred and vIDo then took their fingers out of their ears and looked at the damage I caused. As the smoke cleared we all saw that the ground was covered with the bodies of the soldiers killed by the gatling gun.

Shadow: "It's broken"

Fred: "It's not broken, the clip is just out of ammunition, thankfully"

Shadow: "That was fun, can I have one of these?"

Fred: "Sorry, but this is way too dangerous to be in the hands of a Demon"

Shadow: "Oh well, thank you very much for all the help, both of you. But now I must go, I'm needed else where"

Fred: "Very well. I'm actually glad you're ok, I thought you'd never wake up, you've been unconcious for about 4 days"

Shadow: "4 DAYS?!? I need to get going, this has been fun. Strange but fun"

Fred: "Hahahaha, it has been a rather interesting encounter hasn't it. I wish you luck with all your future adventures"

I shook Fred's hand and then I shook vIDo's paw, bidding them farewell. After that I jumped off the roof of Fred's house and ran into the forest, following the retreating soldiers, as soon as I was out of vIDo and Fred's sight, Shadow-heart appeared again.

Shadow-Heart: "Congradulations, you're a Demon now. How does it feel?"

Shadow: "It feels alot better than I thought it would........infact I can't feel any discomfort at all. Even running, it's alot easier than before"

Shadow-Heart laughed as he ran along side me.

Shadow-Heart: "And this is only the start of it. Soon, once you master your powers, you'll be able to take down empires, annihilate entire countries with a single thought"

Shadow: "That sounds like more power then anyone should have"

Shadow-Heart: "Only the best for you"

Shadow: "But why me?.......whay am I so important? Why did I get the best Demon Seed and why do I have all this power?"

Shadow-Heart: "No idea, but all will be explained eventually"

Shadow: "Then you can start by answering this, why is my fur a different colour? How did those soldiers find me and who sent them?"

Shadow-Heart: "Your fur is different because you're a Demon now, you need to look like one. Your eyes are also red now instead of blue. Those soldiers found you by following the light your body generated during your convertion"

Shadow: "What light?"

Shadow-Heart: "When the Demon Seed was developing it flooded your body with too much Demonic energy, that energy needed to go somewhere so it wouldn't kill you, so your body projected it into the air in the form of a beam of light. Every furry for thousands of miles must have seen that. As for who sent them, well there's only one person now incharge of the Canid army"

Shadow: "Jericho!"

Shadow-Heart: "Spot on. So my plan is this, we find Jericho, break his skull open and have sex with that Tiger you're so fond of to celebrate"

Shadow: "LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!"

Shadow-Heart: "Hahahahahaha, it's just a joke, I'm a Demon, if I want to fuck, I fucking rape someone, we don't go around after sloppy sec-"

Shadow-heart suddenly stopped running and looked off into a different direction. I stopped aswell and walked upto him to see if he was alright.

Shadow: "Hey, we've got to keep moving"

Shadow-Heart: "I can feel it again...........it's calling me"

Shadow: "What's caling you?"

Shadow-Heart: "That damn Arcangel tried to hide you from me, but I knew we'd find each other again"

Shadow: "What is it?"

Shadow-Heart then looked at me and smiled.

Shadow-Heart: "It's my pride and joy........"
