Truth
#3 of Close Combat
Mimi watched his throw her clothes down the river. She jumped back into the river after the lies. When she found out they weren't even hers she was one unhappy fox. "He wasn't to play that way then fine..." She muttered and swam back to land. Once more getting out of the water then shook her pelt dry.
She followed his trail until she found him leaning against a tree. "Stay calm... if he tries to rape you, kick him..." She said to herself making sure her voice was out of earshot. She took a keep breath and padded over to him with her tail wagging. "Hay there!" She said and quickly sat down next to him and quickly wrapped her tail around him. Hay a guy can only handle so much.
She added a smile with the whole act. She leaned against him nibbling on his ears. Well it was normal for anthros to nibble on someone's ears and wit ears like his she couldn't help herself. If this doesn't work then get playful she reminded herself. She started to tug on his ears a bit. More or less to get him to look down... yea there.
Sol ignored her. It was damned hard, but he managed it. "Seduction won't work, foxy." He said, stretching and yawning. DAMN how he wanted to give in. He bit his cheek so hard he drew blood, then spoke. "the only way you'll ever find your clothes is to agree to work with me. If you don't you're gonna have to fight naked. Sounds like you're opponents would be easy, though. Too busy staring at you to fight back."
He chuckled, keeping his eyes closed and trying, TRYING, to ignore her nibbling on his ear. It wasn't easy when there are so many nerves concentrated in his ear tips! He sighs and sits foreward, smacking her with his tail. "As I said, seduction won't work. Knock it off." yawning, he fell back against the tree, not really trying to stop her, just letting her know it wouldn't work. In his head he wondered what he would do when time was up. Would he really forfeit like he'd said he would? He didn't really need money. He was short on food but he wasn't half bad at hunting. Besides, he could go a week or more without anything more than water. And there was plenty of that. But the thought of giving up when he was about to win almost made him physically sick. Well, he'd have to wait and see if she would accept first, then he would plan everything out. 'Her clothes are comfy.' He thought, smiling faintly. Her clothes were right under her nose... And she didn't even realize it!
Mimi moved her tail but she kept on nibbling on his ears and would tug on it a bit still. Sure she was acting like a cub but she didn't care. He had long ears that were fun the nibble on. She stopped after another minute of nibbling on his ears. Her ears lopped "You take my clothes but you don't look." She said then used her tail to cover herself.
Well she guessed if she wanted her clothes back she would have to take his side. She understood the freak comment he mentioned earlier. He forced people to be with him. She shook her head. She decided clothes or not she wouldn't work with him. "I think I know why no one like you!" She snapped getting up onto two "You force people to be your friend and if they don't want to you play tricks on them! You'll never find a mate!" She finished and walked off. Her ears flattened back. It was back to the Batter Royal. So what if she was clothes less.
Once she was out of Solaris sight she had been attacked by 4 humans. At the same time. They said something about her being a fine fox. Mimi killed them all within seconds. She wanted nothing to do with that fox now. He was a horrible person if he hade friends like that. 6 humans attacked her and one elf was wit them. Once more Mimi had destroyed them easy but she couldn't keep fighting like this.
Solaris stood, uncovering her clothes and walking after her. "Wait." He said, sighing. "I was only trying to force you because I didn't want to fight my own kind. But I guess it's none of my business. Here's your clothes." he set the clothes on the ground and turned to walk off. "I guess I'll have to fight you... If you want I can protect you until you're dressed." Without waiting for an answer he climbed up to the lowest limb of a tree to keep lookout. "People call me a freak because of my fur. Nobody really ever wants to be my friend because of it. If I want anything done that includes someone else I have to either bribe them or take something they like and hold it until they help. Even then they rarely help, which is what happened with you. So I just have to give up." He sighs. "My whole life I havn't had one real friend. I've been alone. Fought alone, traveled alone... Hell, I don't even know if I have brothers or sisters. I was raised by humans..." he wiped his eyes. "I don't even know if I was naturally born! For all I know I could be some human test subject! Just.... Just something that didn't work out that they disposed of..." He stood and looked at a man coming to investigate the noise. With a growl, he dropped down out of the tree and rushed him, punching his gut so hard his fist plowed through the man's body and broke his back. Pulling his bloody arm out, he wiped it clean on the man's shirt and walked off. "Good luck." He called behind him.
Mimi didn't need to hear the rest of his sob story. She took her clothes and got dressed. She guessed his protection was worth while but she didn't need it. She ran off as soon as he killed the man. When she was a good mile from were she had gotten dressed. She climbed up a re trees before finding a comfortable one. She gathered a bunch f branches and weaved then together into a large basket. It only look about ten minutes total. She knew the basket was strong enough to hold her as she brought it up into the tree.
She was down the tree looking for branches that were still full on leafs. She had her nest made in about a good 40 minutes. It was getting late and Mimi needed her sleep. Well she didn't need it but she wanted to sleep. She grabbed an extra branch and was think with leafs and brought it up the tree.
Mimi got into the basket and curled up into a ball placing the branch over her. She was sure no one would fine her. Maybe solaria but no one else. Unless they got lucky. She remembered that she hadn't told him her name, but he was a jerk and it was probably for the best. Well at least she had her clothes back.
Solaris sighed. He hadn't expected any reply from her, but it still hurt. He sighed. "I quit..." He muttered. "I can't do this. Sure, I can kill the others, but I can't kill her..." He scent-searched for her until he found her little nest. Using a piece of charcoal he had in his pocket and some paper from his jacket pocket, he wrote 8 simple words, 'I give up. You win. Don't get hurt.' Then he climbed silently up the tree, dropped the paper on the girl, and jumped down, landing with a thump and a grunt. Standing, he walked towards the tent. He wasn't cut out for this. He was a fighter, but not for mass killing like this! He couldn't do it. Besides, if he quit then that vixen would probably win. He smiled, thinking of what she would say when she read his note. 'I don't need his pity!' He chucked and jumped down a small cliff, walking calmly. He paused as he scented the humans. Almost fifteen. "Aaaaahhh SH--" He growled before the trap was sprung. All the humans hit him at once. Three sticks pounded into his stomach and back as two fists hit his face, bloodying his nose, and the rest tripped him. He managed one yelp before he was covered by the humans. When they finally left the fox was close to death. His nose was bleeding freely and he was laying on the ground, at least two ribs broken, unable to move. His breathing was shallow. 'Fuck.... I'm going to die.... Nobody will know I'm dead..... I'm never going to be buried.... The monsters are going to eat me.... God...Damnit.... I can't even talk.... I can't heal myself....Damn....'
Mimi woke up at the sound of the yelp. The yelp caused her to flinch then move around in her basket. The nest wasn't built to handle this so it feel apart. She feel on her side then groaned getting up. She saw a piece of paper and head the note. Her ears lopped then picked up.
It was time to see who had yelped. Only to see the fox turned into a bloody pulp. She padded down the hill wondering if she should waist her time on him. He was probably dead... She felt bad for him so she would help. One she reached him she nudged him with her nose. He was still warm so that seemed like a good sign.
She tried to pick him up but she wasn't tong enough to pick up anything heavy. So she had another idea. No it wasn't roll him down the hill... even if it sounded like a good plan. She forced herself under him until he was on top of her back. She knew bring him into the forest was just a death trap. She looked over to the tent. If she entered it meant game over for her.
Well she had enough money to last her a while. She padded down the hill on fours being careful making sure he didn't fall off. Well at least the tent wasn't far away.
Sol groaned as he felt something nudge him. Damn that hurt! His whole fracking body hurt! Forcing his eyes open, he turned his head slightly to see who was carrying him. It was the vixen! 'What the hell is she doing?! Doesn't she know if she goes in the tent she's out too?! He forced himself, despite the unimaginable pain, to speak. "Let.... me die...." He groaned, immediatly coughing up blood. "If you....in.... you'll be out....." He bit down hard, holding back another coughing fit. Then he realized he could talk. He could talk! 'I can heal myself!' He thought excitedly. He breathed in as deeply as he dared, then whispered two words, barely audible. Hopefully there was enough sun for him to use. "Healing..... Rays...." He gasped, and immediatly he became enwrapped in rays of light. His nose cracked as it was healed, as did his ribs. His body cooled briefly, then he was back. He coughed for a good three seconds before rolling off of her and onto the ground with a thud. He cringed and sat up. "Those sons of bitches...." He coughed again, then spat out a fragment of bone. "They shoved a rib into my lung! Just you motherfuckers wait! After I rest I'm gonna tear them all l--" he stopped, realizing the act that the vixen had just showed. "S... Sorry..." He said, looking down at the ground, suddenly unable to look at her. "I would have healed myself, but... I couldn't talk... If you hadn't helped me out I wouldn't have tried to talk... And I can't cast a spell silently..." His face burned beneath his fur. "You know.... You didn't have to help.... I'm just another obsticle..." He stood, still not looking at her. "I owe you one... Even if you didn't sacrafice anything.... I owe you..." He turned and walked off, wondering if she wouldn't follow and vaguely hoping she would. "Why would she do that?" He wondered aloud. "It's not like I deserved it. I'm a competitor... Her opponent... Besides, it's not like I would do the same..." He hit himself. "Well, okay, yeah I would. But... She didn't have any reason to be so kind.... She was acting like a friend, even after I'd taken her stuff and everything..." Sol's head spun. "Why...?"
Mimi was just about to let him die to. Just throw him of her back and walk off to let him die. When he rolled himself off she look to see he wasn't a bloody mess. She grinned not knowing why she had bothered to help, well her mind wasn't telling her and she had to come up with something. She got to up to her paws and well she liked nibbling on his ears. So she started to nibble and tug at his ears. Well until he left.
She did that for a few seconds then stopped. She got what she wanted from him. She smiled then ran off back into the denser parts of the mountain. She didn't want to stay around him for to long mainly because he might be setting her up. He said he would kill her before and Mimi wasn't going to take that chance. She liked living from what she knew and dieing didn't seem like fun.
She found the free she was in last time and the branched she used were scattered along the floor. She still wanted her sleep so she did what she did before and made another nest. Once she had finished she got in the nest, curled up and fell asleep. She knew that people were up and about still fighting.
Mimi heard a few pass right under the tree but she stayed calm. As long as there wasn't an attack she didn't care, besides she had her fair shares of kills today and she didn't want to take all the action. She put the thoughts of the fox out o her head. She didn't even know if he would be alive when all was said and done. Mimi had only woken up once while she slept. There was a human and an elf having a fighting and a loud one at that. She would have done to shut them up but it was just as fun to watch.
Now Solaria might have been the other opponent that could sniff her out. Well this place was known for deadly creatures and they normally have good noses. A giant lizard has stopped and look up to the tree Mimi was in. The lizard was a grass green color and stood about 4 feet on four. It stood on it's hind legs standing at 9 feet and nudge the nest Mimi was in with it's muzzle. Once it knew that there was food... or Mimi in the nest it ate the nest in one bite. He pushed the nest once more but Mimi still didn't build a strong nest so it fell apart like before.
Mimi woke up quickly in mid air. She fell on the lizards muzzle she quickly jumped off and ran away. She knew that she was just a snack to the lizard. If she knew she was going to be eaten she would rather be the main dish then an appetizer. She saw the lizard following her. It was fast for a large lizard. While she had to weave her way though the trees the lizard just pushing them down like it was nothing. "Stupid fox probably set this up!" she hissed. Well when she was in trouble he was there to make everything better.
Well if the lizard wasn't bad enough there had been a hidden pit fall trap Mimi fell right though. It looked like a soft landing of leafs at the end of the drop. It was a 25 foot drop. Well someone had a lot of time or good digging skills. Grabbled the wall and was about to let her claws dig into the dirt. Well the wall had been lined with small explosives. I thought this was a weapons free Battle Royal. she thought as the explosion caused her to hit the wall behind her. This went on until she reached the ground. It was a soft landing which was the only reason she was still alive. The only damage was the shock from the fall. She landed on herside but the only thing she felt was a case of being a little shack after the who expearence.
The explosions caused no damage just a rough ride down and maybe to get someone's attention. She got up onto two and looked up. She tried to climb it but it only set off more explosions. "That fox probably set this up. Acting like some stupid good guy... He's not getting my tail." She hissed. Well she guessed Solaria would be here any second, just like before. She curled up into a ball. Well someone would come by soon and it seemed like the lizard was gone.
Solaris's ears hurt at the explosions that echoed out from the forest. "What the bloody hell? I thought this was weapons free!" He stood where he was for a second then ran towards the explosions. What was he supposed to do? Sit down and suck his thumb? "Wait.... The vix went in--- HOLY HELL!" He'd just found the lizard trail. "Damn I hope I don't end up against that thing!" He said as he set off down the trail. He came to what had once been hidden dead fall and looked down. "Well looks like someone caught a vixen." He said, seeing the vixen he'd met so many times before down in the pit. "How the hell did you manage to fall in there?" He asked, looking around for a vine or something he could use to pull her out. Standing, he walked to a tree and was about to cut down a vine when he was hit in the stomach and sent flying.
"Wellz, whaddya know! Tat foxeh suvived!" Said an extremely obnoxious voice. Cringing, Sol looked up. Immediatly he was on his feet.
"YOU! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO BROKE MY NOSE!" He roared. The human standing opposite him just shrugged.
"Actully, t'was him." He said, pointing. Sol had heard the man trying to sneak up behind him and at that moment the man lunged. Sol was too fast, and backflipped over him, watching him land flat on his face.
"You surprised me last time." Solaris growled, rays of sunlight wrapping around him even without the sun. "But now you have no chance." In the darkness he glowed, his angry ice-blue eyes boring into them.
"Who set off our trap?" Called a voice. The leader shrugged and called back, "Not sure, but that fox iz back!"
Sol smiled wickedly. "Bring it on chumps. I'll break your skulls in and let the crows feast on your flesh!" The leader withdrew a long knife from his boot, as did the 13 others who'd appeared in the small clearing. Then they charged. Sol waited until they were on him then jumped, flying well above treetop level. He hovered there a moment before dropping down, fist clenched. Below, two men had been killed by their allies and everyone had some kind of wound. Sol sneared as he pounded into their midst, the shockwave from his landing knocking them all back, sending three into the pit with the vixen. He didn't notice, he was too busy gutting a man with his claws.
About five minutes passed before the whole group lay on the ground, dead or dying. Sol walked up to the leader. "I told you I'd break your skull in." He said, then he swung his right hand hard, closing his eyes to keep the spurt of blood from getting in them. Then he cut down a thick vine and dropped it in, blowing all the explosives on the wall it went down as he did. "You want me to leave before you come up, or can I stay?" He called down to the vixen.
Mimi curled up at the farthest corner of the wall. Away from the three men that just fell in. "Who's side are you on!?!" She hissed as she saw one of them get up. Mimi did what ever she could to avoid the one standing as she was able to slip right past his hands. She quickly jumped on the mans head breaking his neck then jumped again attempting to jump out but she only got up to 12 feet or so before gravity forced her tail back to the ground.
She sat down and looked up. It was creepy sitting in a pit with dead people. She heard Solaris doing something up there. 'That fox better be finding a way to get me out' She thought her ears flattened back. She saw him send down a vine. "Let me get out first." She said before grabbing onto the rope with her front paws. Then using it to get out of the whole.
Once she was back up onto the surface. She shook her pelt then looked to Solaris. She licked his cheek then ran off. 'That better be a good enough of a thanks' She thought to herself making sure that she was going as fast as her paws could take her.
Once she was sure she was far enough she stopped to rest then rolled around in a pile of moss. Just to hide her sent. Then climbed up a tree a few yards away. Wished I could have seen the expression on his face She smirked making sure she was well hidden
Sol stood for a moment, staring at where the vixen had run. Then, sighing, he ran in the opposite direction, his fading energy propelling him at amazing speeds. By the time it wore off he was about four miles from the dead fall. Stopping, the fox looked back in the general direction he came from. Sighing, he lay under a bush, his eyes closing. That rest was short-lived. Immediatly there was a snap, and the fox was out from under the bush, claws tearing into the intruder. It was a huge lizard, about two or three feet on all four and about 6 on it's back legs. Blood spattered. "Tiny compared to whatever made that trail." He muttered. Grunting, he sat down.
Cause I'm looking at you through the glass...
Don't know how much time has passed
All i know is that it feels like forever
When no one ever tells you that forever
Feels like home, sitting all alone inside your head
The fox sighed again, images of the vixen flashing constantly through his mind. Growling, the fox stood. "That's it." He said. With that he ran off, hoping to find the vixen before something else did. It took about an hour to get to where he'd been five minutes before he'd set off. Panting, the fox sat near the deadfall, sniffing. He shivered. Death wasn't a pleasant scent. After five minutes he set off, his mind set. Screw the compitition! Screw the money! Soon the tent was in sight. He smiled. "I'm going through with it." He said, nodding. Whenever someone quit the comptition, a system of speakers would announce it. At least that's what Sol hoped. Taking a deep breath, the fox walked into the tent
Mimi watched him pass under the tree. They always come back for more She kept quiet sniffing the air. She jumped from tree branch to tree branch. Making sure she didn't lose sight of him. Once the tent was visible she stopped. She watched him enter then her ears lopped. "Looks like I'm on my own" She muttered and turned tails and went back to where she was before.
She jumped down a tree seeing a good sized bush below. She slipped though the brambles and curled up into a ball. She hated Battle Royal when it got dark. Mimi was never a big fan of the dark. She just hoped tonight would go by quickly and no one jumped her. She was always uneasy around this time.
She watched a few pass. She wondered how long it had been. Hopefully the 36 hour mark would be coming up soon or the sun would come up quickly. Her ears lopped when she felt something big coming, and it was smelly. Luckily what ever it was didn't notice her. She would just wait until there was light then see what was left to kill.
Sol smiled as he regained his weapons. "Don't stay in the area." The man said.
Sol glanced back at him and gave a cocky snear. "I'll go or stay wherever the hell I want." With that he left the tent, sniffing. The Vixen was near. A was something... Big. But it had already passed. He sighed and walked onto the trail. "Vixen!" he called softly. "Hey, if you can hear me, come here. I held up my end of the bargain, if you're willing to go through with it!"
Then he grunted as he was tackled. But now he was in his element. Flinging the attacker off, he had his guns drawn and firing before the attacker even touched the ground. It was a monster, one of the two he'd left alive earlier. Swinging one arm out, he let out five shots at the other one, which had lunged out of a tree. It fell to the ground and lay unmoving. Reloading both guns, he retrieved his clips and put them in his pack, which hung off two belt loops and was strapped to his leg so t didn't get in the way. Holstering his guns, he sniffed. "Listen, I'm staying here until the end of the compitition. If you want help..." He left it to hang as he lay against a tree, in plain sight, and fell asleep.
The fox gasped in pain as the fist pounded into him. "Come on! If you're going to be my "son" then you need to know how to move. Give up i the situation calls for it, and run away when you need to. But fight when you can, and kill anything weaker than you!" The fox glared up at the human standing above him. "I'll kill..." He growled, eyes piercing, "ONLY those who try to kill me!" He yelped in pain as the human's fist pounded into his head. "DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK LIKE A WHIMP! MY SON IS NOT A WHIMP, YOU HEAR ME?! HE WILL KILL WHATEVER IS WEAKER THAN HIM!" Glaring, the man walked into the hall, slamming the door behind him.
Mimi heard the fox not far from the bush she was hiding in. thought he quit... She thought but she didn't come from her hiding place. It could be a trap, did he want her dead that badly. She snuggled up to her tail, just to calm herself down. She looked under the brambles to see him in open view. She quickly retreated back a few steps.
She was tired and she just wanted to sleep but she was to up tight about sleeping alone, in the dark, in a place where she could die any second, and most importantly a fox with guns. I don't like beasts... I like to hide She thought feeling like a rabbit now. A scared rabbit.
A small animal slipped into the bush also. Its nose touched Mimi's tail and Mimi bolted right out of the bust and climbed up a tree a few tail lengths away. Mimi didn't know what it was but what she didn't know was that a mouse had scared her. She high up in the tree holding onto a her paws shacking. She looked over to the bush she had been hiding in but saw nothing.
She jumped thinking the other fox saw her. She jumped out of the tree and scurried to another bush.
