Goodbye, My Lover
#4 of Odd Company
Nobody under the age of 18 years of age past this sentence. Luke, Luna, Trixey, Kent, and Fang are my characters, even if they have common names. Please do not use them unless I say you can. Luna stood still, staring at the large black wolf on the other side of the iron bars that imprisoned Trixey, Kent, and herself. "Fang?" she managed to say. The wolf smirked; Luna remembered how Fang never truly smiled. Fang was exactly as she remembered him; large, muscular, thick black fur, piercing yellow eyes. There was, however, one detail that she noticed about the large lupine; there was a scar that ran down the side of the wolf's face, barely avoiding his right eye, in the shape that could only be described as a bolt of lightning. It was apparent to the stunned black and white wolf that Fang acquired this gruesome scar when their pack was attacked, but what carved it into his flesh was yet to be seen. Fang gazed upon his old lover, eyeing her up and down, noting any differences in her appearance. "It's good to see you again, my lovely Luna" Fang answered, his gaze interlocking with hers. "How long has it been, exactly?" he asked in a nonchalant tone, "Three, four full moons?" Luna felt her heart lifting; her beloved Fang was alive and not more than a few feet away from her. The wolf desperately wished to race towards the bars, push as much of her face she could out of them, and nuzzle her lover's face and neck; she wanted to smell him, feel him, love him. But her instincts put those fantasies to bed, reminding the astounded wolf of where she was. "What are you doing here? Where are we?" she asked in hushed voice. Fang flashed Luna another smirk. "This, lovely, is the Red Taurus Headquarters; the one and only home of best hunters in the known world," he boasted. "Despite its size, this dwelling contains approximately twenty-three skilled hunters, dozens of weapons both close and ranged, four large impenetrable animal cages, a vast collection of countless heads and pelts of numerous creatures, and nearly one hundred barrels of gunpowder. We are at the base of the Mystic Mountains, a mile or two from the cave you previously inhabited." Luna couldn't believe what she was hearing; Fang sounded as if he worshipped the humans, the very creatures that destroyed their pack as well as thousands of other creatures. Deep inside her heart, Luna knew why Fang was here, but she stilled asked, "But why are you here? I thought you were killed when the humans attacked." Luna's question seemed to irritate the larger wolf; Fang never did enjoy Luna's questions unless they were related to his prowess. "The reason why I'm here is because I managed to survive the attack on our pack and was rewarded by the humans for my will to live" Fang stated with an arrogant air about him. "You three are in the presence of the Red Taurus's seeker. As a seeker, it is my duty to track down prey for the hunters; for each creature I hunt down, I'm presented with a mountain of what they call "steaks", a major difference from the usual amount of food I'm presented with daily. I was stalking some deer nearby when I managed to come across a tree that had been marked by you, Luna. I must be honest, I didn't think you could've survived the attack; I'm impressed." It was at this point that Trixey finally crept up beside Luna, Kent sitting directly behind them. "You know this wolf?" inquired Trixey, looking up into Luna's face. Kent would've thrown in his two cents, but the sight of Fang before him kept him anchored to his spot, mouth shut tight. The large fox had once encountered the black wolf a month ago; Kent was strolling through the woods when he spied a half-eaten carcass of a young buck and began to dine on it. Not two bites later, Fang appeared from behind a tree and charged at Kent. Scared beyond all reasoning, Kent scampered away from the carcass with Fang hot on his tail. Kent probably would've died that day if the loud, piercing whistle that summoned Fang back to his masters hadn't sounded. Fang chuckled at the vixen's question; he had almost forgotten the two vulpine were there. "Actually, we know each other very well; don't we, lovely?" he answered, scanning his eyes over the two foxes. The female he had never seen before, but there was something about the large male that nagged in the back of Fang's mind; he finally dismissed the tingling and returned his gaze to Luna, much to Kent's relief. Luna's eyes narrowed, her fur stood on end; there was something wrong, Fang was hiding something, she could see it in the great furrow of flesh that was the scar on his face. "How did you survive?" Luna growled, menacingly. "I saw you enter my parent's den with my father and watched as the humans fired into the cave... what happened to my father?!" Luna barked. Luna's outburst caught Fang by surprise, but he was not afraid of the caged female. Fang's smirk broadened and twisted into a deranged grin. "I killed him," Fang hissed. "The humans fired into the den, but the two of us managed to find some cover from their bullets. Once the volley had stopped, your father rose up from cover and charged towards the humans. That old fool was going to die and I would've too if I didn't react. I raced after him and tackled him to the ground, preventing him from harming the hunters. Once he was on his feet, he lunged for me; I was fast enough to dodge him, but not fast enough to avoid his canines that sliced into my face. I then sank my teeth into his vulnerable neck and, with one quick movement, snapped his brittle neck as if it were a twig" Fang ranted, pausing to allow his words to sink in before continuing. "The humans saw this and stepped towards me; one of them reached out, their hand hovering just above my head. They were offering me to live, to join them; I lowered my ears and rubbed my head against the man's hand, accepting their offer. I share the same ideas as these humans; they use their superior intellect and power to dominate lesser creatures, as do I. The world belongs to the humans; I am merely the first of many to embrace their empire, I am the future! And you, my lovely Luna, shall be my mate and together we will create a new era for all wolves; an era of service to our future masters." Fang proclaimed, his voice rising to a shout towards the end. Luna charged at Fang, crashing into the iron bars as she thrashed against them. "YOU BASTARD! YOU TRAITOR! I WILL NEVER BE YOUR MATE! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! I'LL RIP YOU TO PIECES, ALONG WITH EVRY LAST HUMAN HERE! I SWEAR IT!" Luna roared, the revelation of her father's death driving her into a frenzy. Trixey and Kent scampered to the far corner of the cell, cowering at the sight of the enraged wolf. Fang laughed as Luna slammed repeatedly into the bars. "We shall see about that. Your emotions have always betrayed you, Luna; even as we speak, I can smell your growing arousal from between your legs. You will cave in, and you will be mine," Fang stated, turning around to leave the room. But when he reached the doorway, he froze in his tracks, tilted his head back to the three captives and leered at the them. "One last thing, Luna; I know you've been mating with someone else, someone that is not of our species. I don't know who they are, but by the scent that emanates from both your fur and folds, I can tell that they are nothing more than prey. You call me a traitor while you share your most sacred treasure with a lesser creature; you are a disgrace to our kind." Fang's eyes focused on Luna, who was still frenzied but slightly calmer. "If I ever find them, I'll kill them." Fang growled savagely. With that, the wolf turned away and left the three canines. Once Fang left, Luna ended her assault on the metallic bars, her growls turning into pants and declined slowly into whimpers then finally sobs. Seeing Luna in pain, Trixey and Kent cautiously approached her, stopping just a few feet away. "Luna?" whispered Trixey, fearing the wolf would turn her anger towards the two of them. Luna's only response was a loud inhalation of air that transformed into a loud sob, tears pouring from her eyes. Kent was frozen in place; he did not know Luna well enough to be able to comfort her. Trixey, on the other hand, couldn't stand to see Luna so distraught and padded up beside her, nuzzling into her fur and licking her neck softly. "Shh..." Trixey whispered as she snuggled up to the wolf, "It's okay, it's okay." Luna felt Trixey nuzzling her and started to steadily calm down, her tears matting her facial fur. "I'm sorry about your father, I truly am," Trixey said softly. Kent, realizing he had nothing to fear from Luna, timidly approached the two females and sat down on Luna's unattended side and pressed his body to hers, acting as a crutch for his friend. By now, Luna's sobs had dissipated, replaced by a few quiet sniffles. Trixey brought her face close to Luna's, gazing into the wolf's red eyes. "We will get out of here, and we will find Luke. But right now, we have to calm down and relax," the vixen whispered in a caring voice, not unlike her mother's, or Luna's even. Luna's breathing returned to normal, her body trembling slightly. Determined to calm Luna down, Trixey inquired, "Is there anything I can do for you?" Luna looked down into Trixey's face and smiled a little. "Actually," she said as she rose up from the floor, "there is..." Luna padded over to the far corner where the two vulpine were previously occupying and laid down on her side, lifting one of her hind legs to reveal her dripping wet slit, whimpering quietly. Trixey caught on and proceeded towards the reclining wolf. Kent observed this and joined Trixey. "This is actually a good idea," Kent whispered to Trixey, "if Luna is satisfied, she won't give in to Fang and mate with him to rid herself of her burning arousal, at least until he becomes impatient and mounts her by force." Trixey glanced up at Kent, a visage upon her face. "But won't he hear us mating, or smell our...juices?" she asked in a hush. Kent smiled, "If we're quiet, he won't find us out; as far as smell is concerned, my seed will overpower any female juices. But I will need your help with that." Trixey blushed and stopped in front of Luna's thighs, lowering her head to Luna's orifice while raising her rump in the air. Kent mounted Trixey and slowly pushed into her snatch, trying to avoid any unnecessary sounds. As his large cock penetrated the vixen, Trixey thrust her muzzle into Luna's swollen cunt and moaned, enticing stifled whimpers from the wolf. Trixey's tongue extended to its maximum length, delving deep into the lupine pussy, licking all over the most erogenous spots within. Luna clamped her jaws together as hard as she could in order to prevent any loud moans from escaping her mouth. The excitement from the previous mating with Luke had satisfied her for the time being, however, once she saw Fang all of her past memories came flooding back. Trixey's teasing tongue was hitting all the right spots inside her cunt, similar to Fang's engorged cock spearing into her. As Luna's climax dawned, the wolf reminisced about the way she and her former lover had mated; looking back, Fang was more interested in his own pleasure and the concept of pups, not in Luna's love or needs. The wolf believed that her lover was trying to give her as much pleasure as she gave him, but in reality the only reason she came at the same time as he did was the fact that the male's impressive member was big enough to drive any female into ecstasy within moments. Fang had been with many females, and possibly continued to mate with them even when he had taken Luna for himself judging by the numerous smells he brought back with him after "scouting" some far off territory. Luna never wanted to believe that she was not Fang's one true love, but that didn't matter now. Luna's walls suddenly spasmed as she came all over Trixey's face, shutting her eyes tightly as she resisted the urge to howl in pleasure. When it was finally over and Trixey retracted her tongue from her tingling pussy to focus on Kent's cock pounding into her dripping sex, Luna could feel her exhaustion over taking her as she began to fall asleep once more. Before her eyes closed, Luna's mind dwelled on the one person who she cared for the most, the one who had stood by her despite the difference in species, the one who was still out in the wilderness and free from the Red Taurus and Fang. Luke...
The wind was beginning to blow with a savage force that could easily uproot the weakest of bushes, the freezing cold lashing out like a whip to any who dared to venture into the vicinity of the Red Taurus's Headquarters. Inside the large cabin, a silhouette appeared in the window looking into the barracks where all the hunters were sound asleep, the nearly full moon seemed to embellish the small, shadowed creature as it used all of its strength to force the window up and sneak inside without a sound. Luke had followed the humans to this location, desperately trying to find some evidence of his friends' imprisonment. Although the squirrel was unable to locate any of them, Luke found the window of the hunters' barracks unlocked and slightly ajar. Knowing stealth was his only option in order to save his companions, Luke waited in a nearby tree until all twenty-three cots were filled with sleeping humans. Inside the barracks, Luke fought off any thoughts of fleeing, betraying his instincts and following his heart. Luna, Trixey, and Kent were depending on him, he thought to himself, he wouldn't let them down. As Luke began to contemplate on where he should start looking, the squirrel's ears picked up something that sounded like a vixen crying out in pleasure. Trixey! Luke knew that scream well, having ushered it from the vixen's throat countless times as both he and Luna licked and invaded her eager snatch; Kent must've been mounting her to make her scream so audibly in such a foreboding place. Luke walked through the doorway which led to the hall when another sound came to his attention, freezing him in his tracks. In the hall, Luke heard some creature approach from the room opposite to the one Trixey's scream originated, its padded paws silencing every step it took. Then came a series of rapid breathing sounds, like something was sniffing the air. Finally, Luke heard a low growl, the growl of a large wolf; "Damn! I forgot about the wolf!" shouted Luke in his head. The squirrel's eyes widened as the large black wolf he had seen with the humans outside of the cave the odd company were resting in stepped into the hallway; its ivory fangs bared and its cruel, yellow eyes glared at him, the scar on the side of its face complementing the wolf's bloodcurdling appearance. At the opposite end of the hallway, Fang had just overheard Trixey's scream and was backtracking to the holding cells when he picked up a faint scent. That smell, he had smelled it before recently, while he was with Luna and the others; it was an odd yet arousing aroma that had emanated from Luna's folds, contrasting from the female wolf's scent completely. It was him, the one who had mated with Luna! His Luna! Fang rounded the corner and bared his fangs, eyes fixated on the terrified squirrel at the other end of the hall. "YOU!" Fang barked as he dashed towards Luke. The squirrel about-faced and raced to the room opposite to the previous room he exited, Fang already less than a few feet away from his quarry. Luke ran into the room only to come to a halt, screaming at the sight before him; the squirrel had stumbled into a storage room filled with guns and barrels of gunpowder, the heads and pelts of countless animals adorning the wooden walls, the scent of blood and rotting flesh emanating from the pile of knives located at the back of the room. Luke turned around to leave and was greeted by the sight of Fang lunging at him, jaws wide open. Luke let out a shriek and ducked underneath the wolf, who slammed into the wall, knocking a loaded gun from its rack onto the ground. When the gun hit the ground, it fired, propelling the bullet into a barrel of gunpowder. Luke had managed to escape from the room not a second too soon as the powder ignited and the entire room lit up with a brilliant explosion. The blast rocked the cabin violently, the sturdy beams, rafters, and walls started to collapse and catch fire. The hunters awoke to the explosion and headed immediately to the nearest exit; unfortunately for them, the blast had leveled the rafters, transforming them into immovable pillars of fire. The humans tried as hard as they could to move the wooden beams and escape, but within minutes, the Red Taurus hunters were incinerated within their barracks, crying out as their flesh bubbled, blackened, and peeled from their bones. Ignoring the loud explosion and the cries of agony from the hunters, Luke managed to enter the holding cells; Luna, Trixey, and Kent were taken completely by surprise from the sudden blast and were now cowering in a corner, begging for someone to help them. "Luna, Trixey, Kent!" shouted Luke as he ran towards the cell. All three of the captives looked up and saw their friend rushing towards them; Luna smiled and dashed to the bars, sticking her muzzle through the metallic columns and licking Luke from stomach to head. "Luke!" Luna cried, "Thank goodness you're all right!" Luke placed his paws gently upon Luna's muzzle, mirroring his past actions from when they first met, and gazed into her beautiful yellow eyes. "I'm glad you're all safe," said Luke in a hushed voice,"Especially you, my love." Luna's heart stopped, the wolf was overwhelmed with the words the squirrel had uttered. Luke loved her, just as she loved him. Luna was about to announce her love for him when Kent broke the silence. "Luke! Quick! Climb up the cage and undo the latch! Hurry!" the fox shouted as the room started to raze. Snapping out of his trance, Luke jumped onto the bars and nimbly scaled the metallic columns until he reached the latch. Taking the hook with both paws, Luke lifted upwards and the cell door swung open. Trixey, Kent, and Luna dashed out of the cage, scurrying around the room, scanning for an exit. Trixey's eyes observed a small opening that was once a fireplace, until the fire charred the wood supporting it and brought it crashing down, providing the odd company a means of escape. "Guys, over here!" Trixey shouted as she dashed out through the opening and into the woods. Kent followed her, forcing his large frame through the hole with great effort and popping out the other side. Luke raced towards Luna and the two of them made their way to the exit, the smoldering walls and blazing ceiling starting to crack and groan. Before either one of them made it to the exit, a large black wolf darted out in front of them, blocking their only means of escape. Fang had miraculously survived the explosion and clawed his way out from the destroyed room; though he was unable to stop the two vulpine from escaping, he had managed to halt Luke and Luna's escape, standing in front of the two of them, fangs bared and eyes glaring. "You're not going anywhere!" he growled savagely. Luke was astounded; could anything kill this wolf? Luna charged towards Fang and slammed into him, sending the two of them tumbling to the side. "Luke, Run!" Luna screamed as she used her weight to hold Fang down. Luke obeyed and dashed out the hole, stepping into the cold air outside. The squirrel probably would've kept running, had he not heard the pained scream from inside. Fang twisted his head around and sank his teeth into Luna's front leg, yanking her off of him. Luna cried out in pain as he rolled her onto her stomach and leapt on top of her body, pinning her to the floor. "If you will not be my mate willingly," Fang whispered in her ear, his canine cock poking out of his sheathe and prodding her white-furred lips, "Then I shall make you mine by force!" Luna shut her eyes, knowing what was to come. She was too tired to fight back, Fang had her right where he wanted her. "At least Luke managed to escape," she thought to herself, a single tear running down her cheek. Luna felt Fang draw back his hips, expecting the wolf to force himself into her with tremendous force, when the large wolf gave out a yelp in pain. Luke had dashed back through the hole and raced over to where Fang had Luna pinned down to the ground. As he came up behind the black wolf, Luke grabbed onto Fang's tail and bit down on it as hard as he could. Fang yelped, tail jerking in all directions in an attempt to shake the squirrel off. The wolf lifted one of his hind legs and kicked out at Luke, sending him flying across the room. Before Luke could rise to his paws, Fang leapt off of Luna and sprinted over to the fallen squirrel; with one swift movement, he scooped Luke up in his jaws and slammed them down on the defensless squirrel. Luke let out a loud scream as he felt Fang's jaws crush his body, the razor-sharp teeth slicing into his skin; Luke squirmed for a moment, then went limp, eyes closing, breathing slowing. Fang spat the squirrel out and readied himself to devour the pathetic prey when he felt Luna bound on top of him and sink her teeth into the back of his neck. Fang howled in pain, blood pouring from his neck as Luna tore into his flesh. The black wolf's legs gave out from underneath him, the searing pain too much for him to handle. Luna reared her head back and clamped onto Fang's neck and, with one quick jerk, snapped his neck. Fang let out one last whimper as the life left his eyes, falling into the darkness surrounding. Luna released Fang and darted over to where Luke laid; there were cuts all over his body, blood slowly trickling down his limbs. Luna's eyes began to swell with tears; Luke, her friend, her lover, laid sprawled on the ground, his body unmoving. "Luke, get up!" she shouted, poking the squirrel with one paw. The little creature remained still. "Please get up Luke!" Luna cried, tears streaming across her face. "I'm so sorry! This is all my fault! I never wanted this to happen! I love you Luke!" she sobbed, collapsing onto her stomach, nuzzling his still form. Luna remained chained to the floor, she would not leave Luke. Luna would die here and now with the one creature she loved with all her heart.
Trixey and Kent watched from the shelter of the woods as the cabin collapsed in a smoldering heap. The two foxes hurried back to the cabin, searching for Luke and Luna. But there was no trace of either one in the ash; all that remained were the blackened weapons of the humans and the charred remains of a large wolf, the small patch of skin with a jagged scar streaking across it indicated that it was not Luna. Trixey and Kent continued to search for their friends, but found evidence of their survival. Trixey let out a sob, the loss of her two best friends shattering her heart. Kent brushed up beside her and comforted her, muttering how sorry he was. The large male urged the vixen to rise, wanting to leave the somber scene. As the two of them began to walk away, they heard a low howl emanate from behind them. Trixey and Kent whirled around to see a black and white wolf limping towards them with a small red squirrel clinging to her back. Both foxes shouted with joy and raced towards their friends, nuzzling and licking them. Luke held onto Luna's back, his strength completely drained from his body. Luke knew they had escaped through the hole in the wall, but the details were hazy. All he could remember was going back to save Luna, ending up in Fang's jaws, and passing out from the pain. Luke had awakened to the sensation of Luna's tears falling onto his face, matting down his bloody fur. Fang's teeth had not impaled Luke, they merely slashed up his sides and crushed his body. Luke remembered seeing Luna crying beside him, whimpering "I love you, Luke" as the cabin began to collapse. The squirrel mustered all of his strength and place a paw on Luna's nose; Luna bolted upright and gazed at the wounded creature. The next thing he knew, Luna gently scooped Luke up in her jaws and carried him out of the burning building, narrowly avoiding the flaming beams from above. As Trixey and Kent began to escort Luna and Luke to Kent's cave, Luke tapped a claw against Luna's flesh. Luna turned her head around, wondering if Luke was okay. Luke crawled up close to her head and gave her a soft lick on the cheek. "I love you, Luna," Luke whispered. Luna's eyes lit up and she licked his face, whispering, "I love you, too." Well, there you go. Hopefully this story will stay on the main page long enough to get noticed. I was unsure how to end it back there; at first I thought about letting Luke die and debated on whether or not I would let Luna survive. But here's the thing: I love happy endings. Call me a sucker, but there's nothing like seeing a romantic couple come out of a dangerous situation with their love stronger than ever. Please comment and vote. F.Y.I.: The series is not over yet!
