#1 of A Soldier's Heart

Chapter one of my first ever furry story. Sorry if it is a little short for some of you, I am still wondering if I should continue (so I guess you can call it an introduction or teaser if you don't call something this short a chapter). I am also sorry to say that is has no yiff, at least for the first chapter or so, for I am new to this kind of genre. Feedback is much appreciated as I am eager to get better.

A Soldier's Heart Chapter One

"I SAID I'M LEAVING!". I yelled as I picked up my bag containing my cloths and the few possessions I had. My mother and I had gotten into a huge fight over my gay sexuality, and now I was being kicked out. I knew it was a mistake to come out to my mom, who was strongly against gays, but my boyfriend had already did and I wanted to be brave like him. Big mistake.

I quickly walked out the front door, trying to get away from the yelling and screaming of my mother. Once I had walked a good distance away, I pulled out my cellphone and dialed my boyfriend's number.

"Hey John, how did it go?", came the voice on the other end.

"Terrible, as I had expected", I stated and sighed, "Can you pick me up?"

"Sure, where are you" he inquired.

"Starbucks on 57th street", I answered

After about 10 minutes, the familiar black truck drove into the parking lot and parked in front of me. I walked over and got into the passenger's seat and turned over to face my boyfriend. His name is Derek Price and we have been dating for over a year, but we have been best friends since the 3rd grade. He was a muscular gray and white husky with deep blue eyes, and about 6 feet and maybe 2 inches tall. I had a similar muscle build and was about the same height. We could have been twins, except for the fact that I was a black wolf with green eyes.

"I'm sorry that it didn't work out", Derek said with a touch of sadness as I entered the car.

"Don't worry, I didn't like it there anyway", I said giving him a fake smile, but I could see that he saw the sadness in my eyes.

Derek gave me a real smile, "Well look on the bright side, maybe you can stay at my house." I smiled at that, he would do and say anything to cheer me up. We sat in silence as we drove to his house and pulled in to his driveway. Before I could get out of the car, he turned to me, "As I had told you before, my parents are fine with me being gay and having you as a boyfriend, so please, don't feel uneasy about it. I nodded and stepped out of the car, getting immediately blown by the strong winds of an approaching storm. I took my bag and followed my boyfriend to the front door silently, he opened the door for me as I walked in behind him.

His house was pretty nice, a spacious two story house complete with expensive furniture and everything. I had only been to his house a few other times and we were always alone to have....our special time.

"Honey, is that you," said a voice coming from a window.

"Yeah Mom, it's me," Derek replied, "I brought John over."

A female husky looking similar to Derek came to meet us, "Oh, hello John, Derek has told me so much about you." This made Derek blush under his fur.

"Well it's nice to finally meet you, Mrs. Price," I smiled.

Derek spoke up, " His mom kicked him out of the house, so I thought that he would stay here with us."

"I'm sorry to hear that, but I'll be happy to let John stay here with us," she said with sympathy but ending with a smile.

Wow, it must have been great to have a mom that will accept you for what you are, I thought to myself. All my life, I've heard my mom saying all these nasty things about gay people, and now after 18 years I'm finally free from it. Even though I knew my mom would never approve of it, I never thought she would disown me.

"Alright, I'm going to show John the guest room," he said to his mom. She nodded, said again how nice it was to meet me, and then turned and went back into the kitchen. "Come on, let's go and get your new room settled," he said playfully taking my hand and leading me upstairs. Once we reached the guest's room, Derek opened the door and let me in first. The room was pretty nice for being just the guest's room. I had only found out recently that Derek's family was pretty wealthy, in fact, one of the most wealthiest families around here. The room had a queen sized bed with very elaborate sheets and pillows, along with a stained oak night stand. There was a dark wooden desk with an expensive looking lamp complete with a big leather chair. This guest room sure beats the shitty room I had back home.

Derek, who has been watching me the whole time and probably saw that my eyes were filled with awe as I stared at the contents of my new room, asked, "You like the room?"

"I love it," I exclaimed and gave him a brief kiss on the cheek. "It's amazing, really, I knew it would be nice, but this, this is just...wow!"

"I'm glad you love it," he smiled as he continued to watch me stare at the room in admiration. I put my bag of my possession on the floor by the nightstand and turned to face him.

"I love you, you have always been there for me", I whispered to him, tears forming in my eyes. He walked over and gave me a big embrace, wrapping his arms completely around me giving me a sense of security. It was a feeling that could only be given from being wrapped in his arms.

"I love you too, and I will always be there for you. Wherever you are," he whispered back to me. I looked up and saw his amazing smile, the smile that I loved so much to see. "Come on, let's go have fun," he said cheerfully, taking my hand and led me back downstairs.

For the rest of the day we hanged out, kissed, and went to go for a movie in the evening. After the movie, we were walking out of the theater when a group of three kids saw us holding hands and approached us. This was not my day. Sensing trouble arising, I quickly tried to steer away from them, but they crossed in front of me. Two moved from out in front of us to get both our right and left side. "Problem?", I asked the kid in front of me. He must have been a little older than me, maybe in college, but he was a slender fox. The kid to my right, a German Shepard, a little more muscular, spoke up, "Yeah, you. We don't like fags,"

"I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you become more open-minded as you mature," I replied curtly. The kid on my left this time, another fox, but more muscular than the one in front of me, snarled and said, "I don't think we need to take this crap from a faggot, let's teach 'em a lesson boys." I saw them spring into motion, but I was quicker. At times like these, my adrenaline pumped throughout my entire body, giving me a faster reaction time. I saw them move, but they seemed slower, as if they were moving in a thick liquid. I turned to the German Shepard, possibly the biggest threat and made the first strike. I put all my strength behind the punch and struck the Shepard in the jaw, and with three, consecutive, quick strikes to the throat and a kick to the chest, the Shepard staggered back and fell. I quickly turned to my left to see the fox with a knife out in his paws. In a fluid motion, I quickly moved Derek aside and confronted the threat. He lunged with a knife but I sidestepped avoiding the blade and grabbed his wrist. With a sharp twist I heard and felt his wrist break, allowing the knife to fall from his grasp. As he staggered back holding his broken wrist, I stepped in and gave him a quick strike to the temple of his head, causing him to collapse unconscious. Knowing I still had another potential threat, I quickly turned to the fox who had stepped in front of us with my fists up and ready to strike. But he continued to stand there, shocked by how quickly his friends were taken out. It must have dawned on him that he and his friends were completely outmatched. I stared into his eyes and saw only fear, it was then that I knew he was no longer a threat that needed to be neutralized.

"I will spare you and allow you to help your friends. Your bigotry and your poor decisions I hope you will think very hard when something as little as an opinion gets to you again," I said harshly. With that I turned to Derek, who was staring at me in shock, and grabbed his paw. I was relieved that he didn't pull away from me. I then led him to his car and the second we were in his truck, he turned to face me.

I looked into his eyes but I didn't see any fear, but admiration instead. "Why did you never tell me you could fight so well," he asked.

I shrugged, "I never really thought you would have wanted to know. I would have told you if you had asked and wanted to know." "I do not like mentioning my skills or talents, I don't like the attention it gives me."

"It was amazing how fast and strong you were! And those moves, they looked like you had training," he said in complete admiration.

"I did have training a long time ago, for many years in fact," I replied as he started the car.

"Will you tell me about that some time?" he queried.

"Yes, I will tell you some time, just not now. We should get back to your house," I said looking at the car's clock and seeing that it was 11 pm.

"Our house," he corrected smiling. I returned the smile and we drove back to our house in silence. As we were entering his house and I was heading to my room, he pulled my hand, "Wait, I need to ask you something."

"Yes?" I answered calmly to his request.

"Can you teach me how to fight?" he asked a with his tail curling between his legs. I smiled, he was so cute when he looked at his shoes, trying to hide his embarrassment. "I never learned how to fight, and I really want to learn," he whispered with his voice barely audible.

"Of course I will," I said with a smile. His eyes lit up with excitement and his ears perked up.

"Thank you!" he exclaimed and giving me a hug. I warmly returned his embrace.

"Now we should really get to bed, it's getting late," I whispered into his ear. He released me from his hug and smiled at me. I loved his smiles, it always had made my heart beat faster from the sight of it. "Good night, Derek," I said and started my way up the stairs to my bedroom.

"Good night, John," he replied happily. He then turned and walked toward his room down a hallway. I was able to catch a bright smile on his face as he walked out of my sight. I smiled and continued up the stairs to my room. As I laid in my bed, I thought of the events of today. I got kicked out, but hey, now I get to live with Derek and see him everyday. The thought of living with Derek forever put a smile on my face. Today was a good day_._
