A white slim-line telephone rang in the anteroom of a grand office, encouraging a hand to appear and seize the receiver, which was then brought up to a tall equine ear.

"BookYes Corporation, Mister Rory Gliese's office," Crystal replied in a sharp, professional tone.

"Hello, darling, this is Pepe La Rocca from the La Rocca Fabulous Wedding Planners! Could I please speak with Mister Gliese? I would have to check with him a few choice facts about the wonderful flower arrangements that have been ordered from us for the Thirsk Ball Room for the wedding reception."

_ _

"I'm afraid Mister Gliese is busy at the moment. Would you like to leave a message?" the palomino mare negotiated in an awfully unhurried tone.

"Ohhh seriously...I really have to speak with him right away! I am talking about one hundred arrangements of live flowers, and if I do not get the approval now, I will not have the time to have them all ready by the wedding on Saturday! It is outrageous! It would be disorganized!"

_ _

"I'm afraid Mister is Gliese is very busy and cannot take any calls at this moment", Crystal explained as she gave a glance on the dark wooden door on the other side of the walk-through office, "I would suggest that you call again in two hours' time, please."

"What on earth could be more important at this point than the wedding?"

_ _

"Mister Gliese is the managing creative director of a nationwide retail corporation. He has many duties and I am responsible for allocating his time resources for maximum efficiency. Would you like to leave a message?" Crystal's awfully calm voice repeated again.

"Fine! You can tell him that he'll be paying for 10,000 dollars' worth of dead imported flowers if he doesn't contact me about the final details of the flower arrangements soon!"

_ _

"I am sure Mister Gliese will be delighted to contact you", Crystal wriggled her newly polished nails as she listened to the camp voice reach shrill heights on the other end of the line.

"Good day to you!"

_ _

"Good day!" Crystal chimed and closed the phone. "Bitch."

The palomino nickered to herself and began to type down the details of the phone call, addressed to her boss. She had barely managed to hammer down the name of the caller before the phone rang again. Crystal's hand lashed out like a cobra.

"BookYes Corporation, Mister Gliese's office. I'm afraid he is busy at the moment, would you like to leave a message, sir?"

*

The light wooden paneling, the airy ceiling and the tall windows opening out to show the bustling downtown Kirk City made Rory Gliese's office into something to behold, suitably impressive a sight for those who did manage to get an appointment with the busy director of this up and coming successful business. The magazine covers framed on the soft-toned walls showed the lion squeezing paws with the who's who? of the business world and the politics, and even now several copies of the lion stared down into the room and its two occupants, one of whom included the elusive director himself.

"Aaahhhh....Rory..."

"Uhhh...Victor..."

The white leather couch took up a considerable portion of the left side of the office, placed against the floor and flanked by potted plants and floor lamps that could be turned on during those long evenings in the office, but now it was fresh sunlight form the windows that adorned the pair embracing on the couch, locked in their carnal passion. The lion's black Armani dress pants were a heap of black, folded cloth around his ankles, his hips a fluid piston of love as they rocked against the body of the Doberman lying on his back on the couch, head on the armrest, his own legs thrown over the lion's broad, chiseled shoulders.

"Ohhh Victor..." Rory rumbled passionately against the Doberman's lips, his hips rocking to drive his member through the tight, hot canal of his lover, its soft undulations coaxing more moans and slippery leakage from the hotly breathing lion.

"Ohhh I love you!" Victor writhed in his pleasure and tried to buck his hips to meet the soft drive of his partner-in-business-and-passion's rocking sexy hips.

Their tongues met in a hot, warm kiss, their muzzles dancing together quite as their bodies, rocking and thrusting as one as the two rode out their passion, spontaneous, hot and quick, enough to make the couch rock and bump softly against the wall. The firm leather and springs had been chosen especially by the lion so as to reduce squeaking to the minimum, and it surely showed, now that the two males worked their bodies to the max, propelling their passion into a hot, heated turmoil of love and manly desire.

"Ohhh....yess..." Rory moaned hotly as he felt his barbed tool churn the insides of his lover's slippery back passage, "you feel so good...always so tight...."

"Oh, Rory, fill me...you feel so big inside me...aaahhh..."

"I'll fill you with myself as many times as you want, darling..." Rory purred, his hips a blur as he took his fiancé's ass in the rough act of man-love, "ohhh darling..."

Victor cupped the lion's muzzle into his big, warm paws and held him close as their bodies slammed together passionately, faster and faster they moved, undulating, gripping each other, holding each other, sharing the passionate connection only they could.

"Oh I'm going to cum...oh fuck...I'm going to..."

"So come, Victor...hurry...I want to see your beautiful face when you come..."

The lion didn't stop thrusting into his Doberman, even when Victor wrapped a paw around his own straining erection and began to stroke it in tune to the heavy bucking motions into his rear. Rory gripped the Doberman's shoulders and made sure to kiss him even more intensely while they worked together, reaching even new heights of pleasure with their breathy moans and rocking hips. Victor almost barked when the pleasure pulsed through his groin and his stuffed backside, leading into the magnificent splash of pearly whiteness all over his chest, even as Rory thrust himself mercilessly into his lover's convulsing tunnel and spent himself in a series of gasps and purrs of pleasure.

"Fuck yeah..." Rory rumbled once they had caught their breaths and the lion had slipped out of his lover and now simply rested against his spoogy chest. "Do you think office sex will be this hot once we're married?"

Victor rubbed his fiancé's back with his big paw and nuzzled the lion's fuzzy chin, smiling still.

"I have no doubt of it, darling," the Doberman murmured softly into the lion's ear.

Rory snuggled close to his softly rumbling partner and smiled broadly, taking in the Doberman's handsome, rugged features. The same boyish charm remained, of the very kind that had made him fall in love with the Doberman in the first place...that cheeky smile and those twinkling eyes, that resolute chin and the gentle flaps of his ears...

"Finally..." Victor mused as he stared at the ceiling now, still breathing a little heavy from the exertions of their vigorous illicit lovemaking on the office couch.

Rory gently cupped the Doberman's paw and brought it up to eye level, the large, somewhat calloused paw stared gently by him, taking in the details that culminated in the simple platinum band on the canine's ring finger...the engagement ring he had given to the Doberman on top of that volcano in Hawaii, during the holiday when he had proposed to the Doberman again...and he said yes...blissfully so. Rory smiled as he looked at the symbol of their commitment and softly kissed the cold metal band against his lips, purring gently in the process. Victor let out a pleased rumble and smiled happily, his paw rubbing up and down the lion's smooth back.

"Finally," Rory smiled.

"I can't believe it's only less than a week left," Victor grinned. "Wasn't it only yesterday that we announced our engagement?"

"You silly," Rory patted the Doberman's chin, as if scolding him, though the smile gave him away, "You know it was almost three months ago."

"I am glad we acted this fast," Victor spoke as he curled his arm around the lion and squeezed him close. "This time I won't let anything come between us. Never again."

"Never," Rory murmured softly. "Nothing and nobody..."

"Yeah..."

"Who would've thought..."

"Nobody..."

*BUZZZZZZ*

Their ears flicked sharply at the electronic sound which came from a small box on the lion's neatly organized, large writing desk.

"Mister Gliese? Mrs. Holden is here to see you, and she says it can't wait," Crystal's voice filtered through the intercom.

Victor and Rory glanced at each other and shared a look before the lion snuffled loudly.

"Women," the lion chuckled.

"Hear, hear," the Doberman replied, his fingers still playing with the base of Rory's thick, flippant tail.

"Mister Gliese?"

"Better not let her wait, then," Rory rumbled as he started to get off the couch. "I saw her in the morning and she was furious about something..."

"Hopefully not us," Victor replied, as he too, began to get up.

Rory stood up to his full height and bent down to pull his pants on - giving him a perfect view of his partner's messy body. The scent and the sight made his almost completely soft lionhood to twitch again, but he shook any naughty thoughts away. This wasn't the time for extra rounds, sadly.

"I think you might want to stay in the bathroom while I talk with her," Rory said, buttoning his Armani pants.

Victor glanced down to his messy belly and slightly matted shirt and grinned.

"I think so too..." the Doberman grinned as he stood up, holding his own pants up with his paws while he waddled over to the door that led into the in-suite bathroom of the luxurious office.

Rory watched the pleasant curves of the Doberman's rump for a few titillating moments before he really had no more time, and had to walk over to his desk and flick the small button that opened the intercom.

"Hello, Crystal, let her through, please."

"Yes, Mister Holden."

_ _

Rory sat onto his high-backed ergonomically designed chair and assumed the position of a professional lion, complete with a suitably stern expression on his muzzle as he waved his computer mouse to call up the latest web site design suggestions from the Michaels & Jones Agency.

The leather-padded door opened noiselessly to admit the queen of the company, sailing into the room on her stiletto heels as smoothly as she had been walking on a catwalk in Milan, rather than the expensive, if utilitarian carpet that covered the floor.

"Marge!" Rory purred expansively. "Sweetie!"

The cougar was dressed in a sharp red, and the padded shoulders only served to accentuate her narrow waist and her all-business attitude, which the intelligent eyes conveyed as much as the attire did. The musk of a precious French perfume followed the cougarette, ahead and behind her.

"Rory!" the cougar purred as she sailed into the room.

"Well, well, you look cheerful now!" Rory stared, rubbing his chin as he regarded the cougar.

"I goddamn am too!" Marge slapped her paw against Rory's desk and smiled victoriously. "We've got Booster Huffman!"

Rory's ears jumped sharply, and the lion leaned forward in his chair.

"We did?" the lion gasped.

"With exactly the provisions we wanted!" the cougar declared sharply.

"Oh my goodness!" Rory laughed.

"You, Rory..." Marge purred as she preened her faultless cheeks with her delicate paws, "are looking at the bitch who negotiated exclusive eBook publishing rights to the hottest young adult novel of the season!"

Rory clapped his paws together and let out a small purr of his own.

"Oh this is wonderful news!" the lion declared. "This is truly great!"

"We'll be signing it next week, and if everything goes well, we can start presales in just two weeks' time, so we'll be ready to publish as soon as the novel comes out on the end of the month."

"Another great triumph for Holdens & Gliese Publishing House, BookYES and The Albrecht Brothers," Rory murmured with pleasure as the dollar signs flicked past his eyes.

"You bet it is!" Marge slammed. "Can't wait to tell Cobb..."

"Well you should go and phone him, of course!" Rory enthused. "What's the time in Tokyo at the moment?"

"I'm not sure, but it's still early," Marge snorted. "The book fair has not surely opened yet."

"So he must be in his hotel room!" Rory smiled. "Just Skype him or something."

"You know how he needs to sleep well or he becomes very cranky..."

"Indeed..." Rory placed his paws together and gazed thoughtfully at the cougar. "And we'd hate that..."

Marge purred.

"But then again...Cobb is in Tokyo and won't be here until Wednesday..." the cougar's eyes flashed with dangerous resolution.

"Oh yes..." Rory nodded.

The sound of a toilet being flushed echoed from the in-suite bathroom. Marge's ears flicked and she gave the door a curious look, after which she looked down at the lion. On the spot now, Rory simply smiled.

"Hello Marge!"

Victor had opened the door and now sauntered into the office, looking - and smelling - much more fresh than before he had entered the cubicle. He smiled broadly as he shared a look with his sister-in-law, and gave a covert wink at the lion, whom observed his arrival from behind his desk.

"Victor..." Marge eyed the tall male curiously.

"What is this commotion I hear here then eh?" Victor folded his beefy arms over his chest and eyed the pair curiously.

"I got the Huffman deal," Marge declared with a smirk.

"Oh that's great!" Victor barked. "That's wonderful! Did you tell Cobb yet?"

The glamorous cougar fluttered her carefully curled lashes and shrugged her oversized shoulders.

"He's still sleeping in Tokyo, we think," Marge stated.

"He probably is," Victor nodded expansively. "Though shouldn't he be at the book fair?"

"Who cares, as long as he makes money," Marge's tail swayed sharply behind her rear.

"And will be back in time for the wedding," Victor commented with a huff.

"Of course he will be," Marge stated. "He'll be back on Wednesday as planned. Just in time for the party I'm throwing for you guys!"

"Oh!" Rory yelped. "My mother phoned yesterday, she says that she and Anderson will definitely be there. I haven't heard from my father, so I'm not sure if he'll make it, but I hope so. I might give him a call."

The cougar smiled broadly.

"At least we know your brother will be coming," Marge said. "Clytemnestra and Justin will arrive tomorrow afternoon on the flight from Chicago."

"I haven't seen my brother in over six months," Rory mused thoughtfully, "not since..."

The lion's ears drooped as he recalled the last time he had met his brother...in the solemn atmosphere of the church...

Victor sensed the turmoil in his partner's soul and stepped over to him, and put one of his big, warm paws on the lion's shoulder.

"Not since Peter's funeral, isn't that right?" the Doberman murmured.

Rory nodded softly, and tilted his head so that he could rest his muzzle against his lover's paw, briefly. Victor stayed there, solid, strong and gentle as he ever was, taking care of his love's needs, with his calm, gentle presence. Marge watched carefully, perhaps with a hint of jealousy as she witnessed the bond the two shared. If only...

"That was such a beautiful ceremony," Marge noted. "All the songs and the flowers...all the crying..."

"At least George will be there," Victor squeezed Rory's arm gently. "Peter will be there, in him."

Rory shook his head softly.

"At least he's still alive...that mechanical heart working properly..."

Victor smiled.

"Peter would want this," he said in an assuring tone. "He'd want his best friend to find happiness..."

Rory placed his paw gently over Victor's and gave it a soft pat.

"Oh I know...I know..." the lion sighed..."But to think of the pain...the...crying..."

"At least it was quick," Marge grunted. "Falling into that icy ravine in Alaska...it sure was quick."

Anger flashed in Rory's eyes as he listened to the cougar's voice, and the burning feelings got the best of him, overthrowing any self-control measures with ease. The lion's tail arched back as he stood up suddenly, tense and with a growl rising from his throat as he eyed the red-dressed cougar..

"Do NOT speak about Peter like THAT!" Rory pointed an accusing finger at the cougar, across the shiny, polished table. "You have NO RIGHT!"

The cougar's whiskers bristled as she regarded the lion coolly.

"I'm only telling the truth..."

Rory's claws extended a she swiped the air in front of him, hissing threateningly, and for a moment it seemed like he was going to lunge at the cougar, across the table and leaping like a feral creature, but Victor placed his paws on the lion's shoulders and held him down.

"Rory..." the Doberman murmured, "Rory...please..."

"It's not my fault that he's gone," Marge shrugged. "Just have to accept the facts."

"You have no right..." Rory shook his head while the menacing hissing continued.

"Whatever you say," the cougar replied, aloof and cool.

"The party is off," Rory grunted. "The Wednesday party is off. I'm not coming there to be gawked by all the society furs if Kirk City and New York State...the party is off!"

"Rory!" Victor gasped surprisingly.

Marge tensed.

"I've worked my ass off to arrange that party for you, you stupid...fag!"

_ _

Rory tore himself away from the Doberman holding him back and circled the table, giving murderous looks at the cougar as he stomped on his way.

"I need some fresh air," the lion grunted.

"Rory!" Victor called, staring at the lion.

"Oh for fuck's sake..." Marge snorted.

Rory pushed the door open and entered into the anteroom, still huffing with anger that boiled in his blood. His sudden arrival did not fail to alarm the secretary sitting behind her own desk.

"Oh, Mister Gliese, the wedding planner called you..."

"Not now!" Rory hissed, not even turning to look at the surprised mare.

"Mister Gliese..."

Rory pushed the glass doors that bore his name open and entered the busy foyer of the Bellamy Financial Palace, the skyscraper that held their offices in downtown Kirk City, and stuffed his paws into his pockets as he tried to force himself to calm down. He couldn't just walk there with his claws showing like that...it just wasn't polite...

Stupid Marge. Stupid wedding. Stupid stress. Stupid everything. His ulcer was sure going to start acting up again with all this stress...maybe he'd have to see Doctor Augustine again...get some new pills...get the nerves under control...

"Oh Mister Gliese..."

"Not now, Mason..." he waved off the bespectacled, smartly dressed wolf who had noticed the boss stomping on his way and decided that it was his chance to make a good impression.

"Oh..."

The elevator foyer seemed almost like an oasis of calm to Rory as he arrived, walked over to the nearest pair of metal door, and slammed his paw against the call button. His heart still raced, his tail twitched...his blood boiled, and not in the good way that was conductive of hot activities with his lover...

The elevator doors finally opened with their usual melodic chime, and Rory stepped in, uncaring of any previous occupants. Rory rolled on his footpaws and smacked the button for the elevator to go down again, facing the doors as they closed. He let out a deep breath, finally alone.

"Rory?"

Or was he?

The lion's head moved sharply as he tried to find the source of the voice. He realized that the elevator hadn't been empty after all, but there was someone else in there...someone who furs were a warm shade of tan, with a peppering of copper...tuffed ears...glasses...that piercing...those neat, professional clothes...and that smile...that heart-stopping smile.

"Haakon!"

"I was going to get off on the sixth floor, Rory," the lynx's soft, murmuring voice seemed to go down along Rory's spine as he listened to its gentle timbre. "I'm starting as an intern at BookYES Corporation today and I want to make a good first impression."

Rory gasped.
